I got an e-mail from Dave at Chateaux Roux letting me know about their latest extremely limited edition tees. I actually had to e-mail back to make sure that I’d read it correctly. I suppose you’re wondering what exaclty had confused me. Well, here it is:
“…part of our ‘limited edition’ range of tees to bridge the gap between Winter and Summer. They are all Gold Leaf…”
I figured this would be marketing speak, surely they hadn’t put real gold on a t-shirt? But no, it is real gold, each bit of foil has been individually stuck to the tee. You’d expect to find a premium placed on this kind of luxury, right? Actually no, they’re £40, which is less than some of their other designs (yes Americans, I know $80 is a lot for a tee, but trust me on this, they’re great tees).
On a slightly related note, I spotted Tim Lovejoy (British TV presenter) wearing a Chateau Roux tee on Fifth Gear (a car show) a couple of months back.
