Threadless: It’s a floorplan!

by Andy on August 7, 2007

I really wish I could decide whether I’m posting this with irony or not, but hey, why not?

Straight from their blog (although as of 22:39GMT the site is down):

“Walk into Threadless Chicago and you’ll have 2 choices. Up or down. Downstairs is where the shopping takes place. Upstairs you’ll find a mezzanine area overlooking the first floor with all kinds of different things going on. Primarily, it’s a gallery. The gallery will showcase all kinds of different artists but will consist mainly of work by winning Threadless designers.”

“There are 6 portable desks, each with 2 chairs and a computer that can be moved in and out of the space depending on the type of event. In addition to having gallery showings and openings, we’ll be hosting various events like group critiques or flying a winning designer in to show how they created their design. Or maybe free milk & cookies on new tee shirt day every week icon smile Threadless: Its a floorplan!

And I saved the best for last! We’ve teamed up with Digital Bootcamp to provide courses on all sorts of different creative subjects and programs right in the store. Anywhere from courses on ideas like web design or photography to specific programs like Photoshop or Illustrator.

There will be no shortage of things to learn, see and do upstairs in the Threadless store… we’ll have a calendar of events put together by the grand opening on September 14th so stay tuned!”

Anyone heading over to the grand opening next month?

11 Review: 3D People by Paper Root Clothing

Do you ever find it weird that there are no films made in 3D that don’t really exaggerate the whole 3D aspect of the film? I know that’s probably because 3D technology hasn’t become as widespread as the people in the this tee were led to believe so it would be pretty pointless to go to all the trouble of making a 3D film and only using it subtly, but still, I guy can dream…

I dig the image that Paper Root have used, it really sits well with this style, and the heather grey tee really helps to bring out vintage look of the faded image. It is a pretty big print, which might put a few people off, but it feels entirely necessary for it to be this size, so that we can get that sweet perspective effect to work well on the print.

The print is a real beauty, I don’t really know all that much about ink processes (its a ‘to do’ list item), but the print is also visible on the inside of the tee, so does that means that this tee is printed with discharge ink? The tee feels really soft too, I would hazard a guess that it is American Apparel stock considering the tiny remnants of where the tag has been cut out, but I’m not entirely sure. The cut is on the slim-fit side, but quite stretchy too so its pretty forgiving.
