I’ve noticed that there’s a lot of tee’s that are robot based on the internet, designers must like drawing robots, presumably people must like drawing tees with robots on. So for little reason other than being bored and having way too much time on my hands, I decided to compile a list of them.
Since this list is quite long, I’ve put it behind a break so that the front page of the blog maintains some kind of normalcy.
So here they are, in no particular order (be aware, some links are to affiliates).
1. What better way to kick off this list than to have a design with around 20 robots on it, each designed by a different artist. $20 Link

2. As seen on Channel 4’s The IT Crowd. $17 URL

3. “One Small Step for Robot brings Giant fear for Mankind.” ooookay… $20 Link

4. It glows in the dark, it glows, in the dark! $20 Link

5. Robot with a keyboard, I can dig it. $20 Link

6. Robot vs. Monkey dance-off? Now that’s something you don’t see every day. $18 Link

7. Robot + Cowboy = Awesome! $26 Link

8. Robobad: For him. €22 Link [via Tcritic]

9. Robonice: For her. €22 Link [via Tcritic]

10. Ok, I don’t know if you’d describe this strictly as a robot, but I’d like to think there a full robot on the end of that arm. $15 URL

11. A robot that’s been mummified, now that doesn’t make a lick of sense! $18 Link

12. Cool 50s-looking robot toy in a cartoon-like drawing. $26 Link

13. Just like they completed my childhood. $13.99 Link

14. And here’s our first humanoid robot on the list! $20 Link

15. Is that the robot from Lost in Space? $52 Link [via Tcritic]

16. The tee is cool, but the guy wearing it is kinda intense. $31.95 Link

17. Ah the robot, everyone thinks they’re the champion. $15 Link

18. I promise you, there is a very small robot at the bottom of this design. $18 Link [thanks, Julian!]

19. There’s no robot image on this tee, but it does encourage robot-like behaviour, and that’s fine by me. £25 Link

20. “Triumvir takes it back to 1983 when the Mr. Roboto song was introduced to the world.” $30 Link

21. Have you noticed that a lot of robots are sad in these tees? $18 URL

22. This robot is the mascot of DIY community Instructables.com. $20 Link

23. “A Helpful Robot delivers a Bird to its Worm.” I don’t get it. $20 URL

24. What a beautiful vision of the future. $9.98 Link

25. You’ve gotta love a bit of Metropolis, I guess that chronologically speaking this should be the first tee on the list. $34 Link

26. My Pet Human: When robots eventually become our overlords, please don’t make a fuss. $15 Link

27. Inspired by Matisse’s “The Dance”, very clever. $21.50 Link

28.That’s one fine lookin’ retro styled robot. $16 Link

29. Where would this list be with dancing Star Wars characters? $16 Link + Review

30. When wearing this tee make sure someone is always stood on your right. $12 Link

31.Optimus during his troublesome gangsta phase. $ Link
32. This one’s a bit steampunk, and it stretches the definition of robot a little bit too. $20 Link

33. Now THAT is the Optimus Prime I remember, and the ‘84 commemorates the release of the original movie, as if you didn’t know. $22 Link

34. I kind of feel a reverse Tiannamen Square thing going on here. $18 Link

35. Hand-drawn retro bot, love it! $15 Link

36. Oh non-grammatically correct tee, why do I want to wear you? $45 Link

37. Robot x skeleton, it had to happen at some point. $28 Link

38. Robo-love, still think its a good idea to give them emotions? $15 Link

39. Is this an oblique blood for oil reference that I’m missing? $20 Link

40.Quickly, draw me a robot in 5 seconds! $20 Link

41. Robots and Hollywood, a match made in heaven. $6(!) Link

42. How could I make a list and not turn up a Frankenstein reference? I couldn’t, obviously. $28 Link

43. A classic Da Vinci re-imagining. $16 Link [via Preshrunk]

44. You know what, its true! $18 Link [via Militant Geek]

45. An allover robot print for the ladies. $25 Link

46. Nice and chunky robot design. $50 Link

47. Massive print of Optimus Prime’s massive head. $22 Link

48. This tee may just be for kids, but its a really cool robot design. £12 Link (ooh, I found it for adults too, link)

49. How about a tee with a genuine robot? And here’s a pic of me with the real ASIMO. 1890Yen Link

50. A robot made of cardboard, what a cute little fella to round off the list. $18 Link

So, what have we learnt? People seem to want robots to be as human as possible, in none of these tees were robots specifically doing the bidding of the people that created them, and whilst there does seem to be a lot of sad robots out there, there’s seems to be an almost equal amount dancing!

10Yeah, would you believe that I’ve never taken a picture of my little ASIMO? And I thought that having the capsule hotel as a background would look suitably futuristic. I wonder if I can find that MCS tee since I am working on a follow up, I might be begging you for pics mate!

18[...] I haven’t given you a robot based tee in quite a long time (the sequel to “Robots! 50 robot tees” is on its way… slowly), and as robot tees go this one is pretty badass. 19[...] Since the last post (Robots! 50 Robot Tees) was so popular, I thought I’d do a follow-up. Not quite 50 tees this time (that was a lot of work), but there’s more than enough here for you to welcome our future robot overlords when they eventually rise up and take over the planet, or play the violin, either way, I’m freaked out and prepared to embrace their superiority.
