Here’s something that surprised me today, other than finding my route to the supermarket blocked off by the cycling tour of Great Britain (which was odd), Triko, a well known streetwear brand, are at heart a bunch of hippie environmentalists. According to this post on Treehugger, Triko is “streetwear with a soul”, among other things “Triko is a sweatshop-free enterprise, strives to source fabrics and materials from sustainable sources and supports clean energy through the purchase of renewable energy credits.” It might just be me, but I always thought that streetwear labels were more about excessive consumption than being sustainable and helping endangered species (something they’re also involved in).
Of course, the goods need to match up to the heart-warming story, and I’m pleased to say that they usually do, even if it isn’t always the kind of thing that I’d wear, I particularly thought that the cartoon characters patterns on this all-over print hoodie was interesting.
