One of the great things about Johnny Cupcakes is the way that they manage to put their own little twist on fairly traditional t-shirt design staples (like wreaths or crests) and make them seem so fresh. I guess that’s the magic ingredient in the Johnny Cupcake formula (hey, that sentence could have been worse, I couldn’t written ‘Johnny Cupcake recipe’).
It’s also cool how their blog posts, which are the first thing you see when you get to the site proper (after the splash screen) usually have pretty muvh nothing to do with clothing. I know that’s a strange thing to say, but it feels good not to constantly have them promoting their own tees on their own site, and with JC owing so much of its success to Johnny himself then I guess it makes a lot of sense for the blog to be about him, for the most part. Oh, and if I haven’t given you enough of a JC fix, check out this interview with Johnny Cupcakes and The Hundreds over at HighSnobriety.

1Eep! Those nails are creeping me out.
I like the simplicity of this though. Could this be the first JC tee to not feature a cupcake?

2I think some of the Halloween tees didn’t feature cupcakes… but I’m not sure if they were the first.
