As if you hadn’t noticed the two previous entries, and the rather spiffy-looking banner at the top of the blog, I thought I’d remind you about
the contest that HYA* is currently running. Entries are coming in at a pretty decent rate now, and I’m impressed with the level of quality that you’re all showing in terms of both illustration and concept. You’ve still got 12 days left to enter before the judging begins.
Just to help you along a bit, after downloading Inkscape, the free and open-source vector programme, last night I was having a play around and managed to make a fairly decent looking mimobot outline for you to use in your designs. You can find it here. This vector isn’t official, I whipped it up myself, using just a laptop touchpad, so don’t go complaining about the quality!
If you’re not a vector person, here’s a massive .jpg of the Mimoco logo. I guess it’s a little unfair on the earlybrid entries to give out new materials halfway through, but I thought that some people might need the help.

The colouring in this design is pretty odd, but a nice odd, I can’t really put my finger on it, it’s kind of as if they were designing an element for a website and figured it would good on a t-shirt… which it does!
Might be nice if the print was a little bigger though.

It sure is a lazy Friday, so lazy in fact that I’m just going to give you the rather fun bit of blurb from Glarkware:
No one really likes to go to the dentist, what with the scraping and poking and the spitting. Frankly, it’s undignified.
But have you ever seen inside the mouth of a person who didn’t take adequate care of his or her teeth? It’s gnarly — the sunken lips, the excess of saliva, what-have-you. It’s not just old people, either; it’s hard to forget that infamous magazine story of the starlet who was getting a bridge to replace almost her whole top grill because she “never brushed.” It’s no way to live.
There’s no reason to be scared of the dentist, y’all! You just have to do the necessary preventative maintenance between visits: brush, floss, rinse with a mouthwash a couple of times a week, and keep your choppers strong and healthy. Start and end every day right: throw a party in your mouth!
So, who was the starlet that it’s hard to forget about?

To be honest, I usually far prefer Harajuku Lovers’ name to their clothes, but this allover heart print works really well, grey is often a great base colour for a hoodie, and they’ve balanced their colour pallette nicely to give it a crazy-but-not-too-crazy look.
