The Ryde are rapidly climbing up the non-existent HYA* leaderboard (actually, wouldn’t that be cool?). First, they ask me to pick some tees and get a 50% off coupon for all you guys, and then they send over some cool tees (random selection, not the three I later picked, as per HYA* rules) so that I know that when I’m handing out coupons I know that the merchandise is quality. And on top of that, they just seem like a top notch bunch of people.

Summer is clearly long gone where I live. When I went out to the wood shed tonight to get firewood I had to do a triple-check that it wasn’t snowing outside (it was just very light rain), although I guess the fact that I needed to get firewood in the first place is a strong indicator that it isn’t so warm in HYAland. This tee doesn’t really feel as if it suits the weather at the moment, but it certainly would lighten my mood on a particularly overcast day. The design is bright and bold, yet somehow manages to remain subtle. It’s not often that I see a tee with a photo style print on it that doesn’t disappoint me, the quality just never seems to match up to the hopes, but in this case it works really well, and the effect is surprisingly true-to-life, with a style that looks like the print that you get in colour prints of a newspaper.

The quality is great. From the looks of things they’re using custom tees. Comparing them to American Apparel, I’d say that they’re slightly shorter and slightly wider in the body, and possibly a bit softer (gasp!), but other than that pretty similar. There’s something cool about their tags too, they encourage you to rip it out, ensuring you don’t have to suffer from the embarrassment of “hey, your tags out of your shirt” ever again. Print quality is very impressive too, you can barely feel that its there when you run your hand over it, which I’m sure most of you do to your tees very frequently. I do wonder how long the boldness of the colour in the print will last, but since The Ryde are a surfer brand, I would presume that the older and more worn it gets the cooler and cooler it becomes, right?
