15 Review: Yay Serotonin! by ClothMoth

Usually, when I get sent a tee, I don’t expect to have to study chemistry to understand the joke. I kinda got it, but I thought I’d better take a better look to make sure I was on track (if you call Wikipedia ‘taking a better look at it’).

In the central nervous system, serotonin is believed to play an important role as a neurotransmitter, in the regulation of anger, aggression, body temperature, mood, sleep, vomiting, sexuality, and appetite.

So, according to this article, serotonin makes you hungry and horny, amongst other things. Those things also sound a lot like a description of parties at chez Andy!

24 Review: Yay Serotonin! by ClothMoth

There’s a pretty interesting style in this design. The way that the letters for ‘yay serotonin!’ are drawn twice kind of reminds me of being bored in chemistry class and going over and over what you’ve written because you wanted it to look like you were doing something when you were actually just daydreaming. Although why you’d write “yay serotonin!” in one of your schoolbooks is another matter althogether. And in that sense I think ClothMoth have really got the sentiment right on this design, its weird, you don’t really understand it, but at the same time you kinda like it.

34 Review: Yay Serotonin! by ClothMoth

As mentioned in my past two ClothMoth reviews, this tee is printed on a Fruit of the Loom ‘Best’ tee, and I’m impressed with it, but they are moving over to the industry standard of American Apparel soon, so be aware of that when you order since FotL are a bit more of a regular fit compared to the AA. The print quality is top notch as well, with the colours popping well with the brown of the tee.

jtendends102porciento j`tendends by 102porciento @ Clear Cut Case

Not often that we run a sweatshirt around these parts, but this one is a real beauty, with a great detailed print with a subtle colourway. Printed on American Apparel by the looks of that tag.

Wire Birds by No Star Clothing

pw_wirebirds Wire Birds by No Star Clothing

I’m starting to think that the rather niche subject of ‘birds sitting on telephone/power lines’ might need to be the subject of a HYA* list, not because I think they’re particularly cool, just because there’s so many of them out there.

mw_wirebirds Wire Birds by No Star Clothing

This one from No Star is a good example, and unlike most of the others in this style isn’t so emo that it makes me want to share the pain of Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance, a man who I have never personally seen booed and laughed at by more people (about 80,000 at Wembley Stadium).

turtlehead060911_gallery_pic3401 Turtlehead: Weve got news

I don’t particularly know why, but the way this is written makes me think of Keith from Turtlehead dressed as a circus ringmaster trying to entice into a carnival… I spend a lot of time daydreaming…

We’ve redesigned the site. Our new t-shirts from Laurina Paperina are on our interweb. She’s a simply amazing artist coming at ya straight outta Italy.

Our Polyphonic Spree [Fragile Army] t-shirts are at the printers and we’ll be launching them on Valentines Day 2008. We now have girls tees. We’ve got hoodies for sale. We’ve got long sleeved tees. We’ve got underpants. We’ve got bags - and we’ve got more bags that are different from the first bags. We’ve got new badges. We’ve got new art from the one, the only, the incredible, Chrissssssssss Judge. We have girls tees, I know I said that already but it’s worth repeating. We’ve got 4 amazing new artists lined up for 2008. We’ve still got free shipping and we’re giving you 10% off everything until Christmas because we’re just that nice.

We, we, we, we, we, we.

radiohead_tshirt How Much Did You Pay For The_Radiohead Album? by Tasty Tees

Me? Nothing. Didn’t pay for it. Didn’t download it either. How much do you pay for this t-shirt? Whatever you want.

Yup, whatever you want. A great idea from the Tasty Tees crew, although perhaps a slightly less viable business strategy than the Radiohead guys since tees cost rather more than bandwidth. Orders for this limited edition tee are being taken up until December 1st at which point they will be printed out and shipped off in time for the holidays.

brooklynindustries1192744173497 Wool Military Coat by Brooklyn Industries

Feelin’ chilly? Yeah, it really is getting that way.

Since this is a military style coat, lets rock some technical blurbage, since that just feels right!

Military-styled wool coat with epaulettes and multiple oversized patch pockets.. Corduroy detailing at back yoke, shoulders, and pockets.

* Body: 70% wool / 15 viscose / 15% polyester
* Lining: 97% polyester / 3% spandex
* Constrast corduroy: 100% cotton

Any word on whether Brooklyn Industries still charges an arm and a leg to ship things outside the US?

HYA* x Mimoco Illustration Contest: Remember, the deadline for submissions is November 21st, just 2 days away!

Threadless Holiday Sale: $10 tees, you know the deal. There’s also a video to go with the sale that looks slightly funny that I’ve embedded below, but I can’t listen to it because my soundcard is still busted. They’re also giving away free MP3 downloads of Christmas songs sung by the Threadless staff, so maybe having a busted soundcard isn’t all bad!

Past Present Future from cshimala on Vimeo.

Limitees: The guys from SELEKKT, the tee blog that I respect a lot more than most, have opened a store which is a veritable Candyland of fantastic designs from great labels like WEMOTO and Human Empire. If you like the stuff you see at Selekkt, you might as well open up your wallet and pull out your credit card before clicking on that link.

Go Ape Shirts: Dawn of the Dead x The Big Lebowski mashup, good stuff indeed (pictured at top).

A-Better-Tomorrow
: They seem to be launching a new shirt-a-day service where a selected design will only be sold for one day then never printed again.

SplitReason.com: They’ve added a load of new gamer-tees that don’t suck, which is an unfortunately rare occurrence in the gaming tee world.

No Demographic: They’ve got some new designs out, which, presumably, are aimed at everyone.

Attus Apparel: Big Holiday sale (literally, ’tis the season), with 50% off all their polo’s. Also some cool new pics and vids to take a gander at.

Threadbanger: They went to Stitch (a big-ass craft fair in Austin, Texas), and guess who they ran into, our old buddy David from Seibei! Again, I don’t know what was said, but the vid sure looks good, and is embedded below.

2kridgemont06 Fast Times At Ridgemont High Synopsis by 2k @ Giant Robot

Happy Asian girl is back!

Does anyone else think that it’s odd that I keep posting tees from Giant Robot, who I think of more as a magazine and book company? And to add to that, I first saw this line of movie synopsis tees by 2k at a bookshop in the UK, well, I guess its all text.

This movie synopsis series really is one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” ideas, so simple, so cool. But come on, 2 stars? What the hell were they thinking?!

britneyhoodie The Clover by Primp @ Karmaloop

I can’t believe I’m actually looking at a picture of Britney Spears (from this year) and saying “hey, that looks good.” Of course, you haven’t stumbled upon some lame-o celeb gossip blog, this is HYA* dammit and I’m only looking at one thing. The hoodie.

It’s a pretty cool hoodie, nice colourway, an all-over print that isn’t too in your face, and is presumably astoundingly lucky… y’know, since everything is going so great for Britney. I like the way that the clover print runs onto the inside of the hoodie too, although presumably it doesn’t have the rhinestones on the inside.
