Here’s Andy’s pick o’ the week from the latest crop of
Threadless tees. I’ve picked ‘we have ways of making you talk’ because these tees which have lots of little elements on a theme neatly arranged seem to be gaining in popularity (there were similar
Threadless designs with stereos and rayguns), and because this tee actually has more depth than you’d imagine. Do you see the the feather, I can’t decide if that’s a ‘pen is mightier than the sword’ reference, or if the designer just really hates being tickled. This tee also has ‘we have ways of making you talk’ printed on the upper back of the tee, which is fairly rare to see from the typically front-printing Threadless.

Oh, and if they’re listening, top notch bunch of product photos this week Threadgang!

Spear Talks: Tado: One of my favourite blogs talks to one of my favourite art/illustration duos. No huge revelations, but a fun little interview.
The Quiet Life: A little holiday bonus from the guys at TQL:
Every order placed before Dec. 25th that’s over $75.00 will receive a free QL Camera Club book (vol. 2) and a free Poo Poodles CD. And every order over $100.00 will recieve a free Camera Club book, a free Poo Poodles CD, and a free QL Tshirt.
Threadbanger: Our friends over at Threadbanger have a new episode out, this ones all about hair! (yeah, I know, this ain’t ‘Hide Your Scalp’…)
Bountee gets a forum: I don’t really understand why all t-shirt design competitions don’t have forums in some form or another, it seems like something that would help to create a better feeling of community. It’s pretty bare bones and quiet at the moment as it was only announced a few days ago, but it still seems like a good addition to this increasingly impressive site.
Glarkware: Free shipping on orders over $75

I’m giving this design a shout out, not because I think its amazing (its good, but I’m not ga-ga for it), but because I wanted to give props (‘props’ am I using that right?) to the designer, PsyKopaT, for not giving up at laFraise and getting printed after his 70th submission, something which surprises me considering the quality of the designs on his blog.

Now this is a lot more what I expect when I think of Artful Dodger, and even though I can admit that the patterns on this blazer and the tee I mentioned on Thursday are actually pretty similar, it feels like a whole different ball-game to be audacious enough to put that kind of pattern onto what is generally considered quite a dressy item.
Even though I don’t think that I quite have the cajones to wear this, I do kinda like it, even if it is just in a “people that wear streetwear are crazy” kind of way. If you click through you’ll see that the blazer has a burgundly lining with pink trim, which contrats really well with the white. Oh, and whilst I like it, I don’t necessarily $200 like it (which is circa $100 off the original price).

Has anyone else noticed that if you’re a clothing company and you base yourself in Germany then chances are you’re going to consistently put out awesome designs? Think about it, Human Empire, Yackfou, A Better Tomorrow, Scribtee… others.
I’ve got no clue what the deal is with the design (are they meant to be angel wings?) and how it relates to the ‘Midwest’ title, but that doesn’t stop the hand drawn style from being really endearing, especially the way that their name is hand drawn.
