Pi By Numbers from ThinkGeek

by Andy on January 17, 2008

pi hoodie Pi By Numbers from ThinkGeek
You will find no pie/pi references here, no matter how easy it would be for a pun-lover such as to be impaled upon the sword of lame writing (which, lets be frank, happens around here quite a lot), I shall resist!

The cool thing about this hoodie is that the pi symbol itself is actually made up of lots of tiny numbers, and apparently the numbers follow the sequence of pi, which in your head is a pretty logical thing to do if you were brainstorming pi related design ideas, but its still nice to see someone actually make it.

Space Invaders @ Palmer Cash

by Andy on January 17, 2008

guys spaceinvaders big Space Invaders @ Palmer Cash
My love of Space Invaders knows no bounds. Not necessarily the video game, I probably haven’t played that for the best part of a decade, I’m talking about the real-world treasure hunt of Space Invader mosaics really does capture my imagination in a way that I simply cannot describe adequately. I actually spotted the newly-released Invasion UK book a few days ago, and even though it was $90 (a fair amount above the €45 rrp) I seriously thought about laying down the cash so that I could hunt out those elusive mosaics on my semi-regular trips to Newcastle (went there yesterday, no sightings).

I like the hint of melancholy in PalmerCash‘s description of this tee:

One of my favorite games when I was a kid. Although, the older kids would just let me watch them play. I really never got to actually play it. But it looked fun.

Poor guy/gal, didn’t know what they were missin’!

detail hippo Kopie large Unglaublich! Ich kann fliegen! @ A Better Tomorrow
Unglaublich! Ich kann fliegen!…. that’s what she said… Basically I have no idea what that particular bit of German means, so if what I said makes sense and is funny, awesome, but if not, it isn’t meant to make sense and that’s why its funny.

Not only do I not know what the name is in English, I don’t really know what is going on in the design, but I do know that it’s one of the cutest things that I’ve seen in a long time, which probably has something to do with how I think hippoes are amazing cute, even if they would bite your face off given half the chance. It’s not actually available yet, making this one of those rare occasions where I write about a tee that’s merely a submission in a design competition, but I thought it was worth a look.

*Andre from ABT has informed us in the comments that this design is a winner in their design competition and will be available soon, also, the title means “unbelievable! I can fly”…. uhhh…. that’s what she said?*

IF707zoom1 Create the Future by Imaginary Foundation @ Karmaloop
Considering everyone, everyone, loves Imaginary Foundation, the shadowy and mystery design think tank, I don’t really mention them all that often do I?

I think that this tee is from their latest batch of designs, I really like the way that the perspective is set so that it actually looks like you’re moving into the future the further along the line you go. Without having seen the title and if the colours were a little more dour I would have presumed that this tee was a commentary upon the monotonous routine that a lot of white collar workers endure on a daily basis, but that just wouldn’t be very Imaginary Foundation-like now, would it?
