Folklore Hoodie by Rare Device

folklore hoodie by princess tina, available at Rare Device, Brooklyn, NY

When I saw this hoodie I got a little excited about it. This is a pretty special looking hoodie, the print looks really interesting, and there’s the oversized and largely superfluous button tab closure up at the top of the zip (for a cape-like look, apparently). Then I saw the price, $125, I know I’ve run more expensive things on HYA in the past, and will in the future, but it did get me thinking about the economy, so I’m going to try and hunt out some cheaper hoodies in the future so that when capitalism collapses we’ll all have something to keep us warm.

‘the most fantastic things’ t-shirt by Linty Fresh

Great design here from Linty Fresh that feels a lot like a Threadless-kinda submission, artsy, plenty of different design elements, and a few cute characters thrown in for good measure. LF also appear to be putting out a decent quality product too, judging by this lovely printed tag inside the shirt.

Pistol t-shirt by Tank Theory @ Karmaloop

Now this here is a really clever design, I love the way that the head seamlessly transitions into being the butt/handle of the revolver, and as ever, there ain’t nothing wrong with putting some gold foil onto a design, especially a gun, it kinda makes it feel like we’re in an African dictatorship!

Oh, and there’s an oversized, Thank Theory branded bullet on the back right should, which looks kinda badass since its in gold too, if it were in white then it would probably just look like a bird crapped on your shoulder.

Chris from Ichabods dropped me a line so that I could help spread the word about a guy whose been e-mailing tee producers telling them that they can get there tee’s into films if they send a few over to him. I guess its really exciting for small labels when a celebrity wears their stuff, so people may be tempted to ship over a few tees no questions asked, but I’m afraid this guy doesn’t seem to be legit. He goes by a few names, Will Skrivseth and Bill Farley amongst them, and lists his address as being in Minneapolis.

Whilst I don’t have much experience with this side of the industry, always research any kind of offer or company when they ask you for free clothes (if you google them and can’t find anything, something Fishy may be going on). Whilst we’re on the subject, I will never contact anyone asking them for a sample for review, in fact I don’t accept samples unless I think that the company in question makes good and interesting clothing, so if you get an e-mail claiming to be from me asking for a sample, forward it on to me and I’ll deal with it.
