It looks like some of the bigger players in the mainstream market are starting to cotton onto the idea that design competitions are a great way to discover great new artists. Boxfresh, who are pretty big in the UK, have joined the fray with what appears to be a competition to create a small collection of 6 designs. Here’s the deets:
Win a grand Prize of £1,000 cash and the chance to design a 6-piece t-shirt collection
Designs can be submitted at YouvsBoxfresh.com in the You vs. Boxfresh community. Each month, the design with the highest star rating wins £250 cash and is entered into the overall You vs. Boxfresh 2008 Grand Prize.
If more than one design shares the highest rating the winner will be picked by a panel of independent judges.
The Grand Prize entries will be judged by the panel and the overall winner will receive £1,000 cash and the chance to design there very own 6-piece t-shirt collection.
The info above doesn’t make it entirely clear, but I think that the monthly winner also gets their design printed up as well as the £250 cash prize. I know that the amounts of money being talked about are slightly less than some of our more regularly discussed design competitions, but I think there is quite a lot of kudos to come from being associated by a brand like Boxfresh, I know it would certainly impress my friends more if I designed a t-shirt which had a Boxfresh tag rather than Threadless one.
