Hey guys, i've been onto the site and it's actually quite addictive! I've read the deets and i dont think they are like threadless where they produce all deisgns, the only produce the winners and the designer gets paid? which is cool. I also saw a blog where they are attracting students and design schools so maybe its all about teh underground talent thing? Pretty cool. I know my entry is up there in teh running! ;) Get involve man

I think that this is probably a case of not shooting the messenger, there's interest in design competitions, especially in the t-shirt world. I know where you're coming from, if I were a professional designer (see the logo of this blog for an example of my skill level) I wouldn't be happy spending time working on t-shirt designs on the off chance that I earned money.

Basically, I agree with you on a certain level, but design competitions often produce some amazing t-shirts, so I am compelled to write about them.

You really shouldn't promote spec work. It devalues the work of designers everywhere by letting companies think it's okay to get work for free on the CHANCE of getting paid.
