Win a grand Prize of £1,000 cash and the chance to design a 6-piece t-shirt collection
Designs can be submitted at YouvsBoxfresh.com in the You vs. Boxfresh community. Each month, the design with the highest star rating wins £250 cash and is entered into the overall You vs. Boxfresh 2008 Grand Prize.
If more than one design shares the highest rating the winner will be picked by a panel of independent judges.
The Grand Prize entries will be judged by the panel and the overall winner will receive £1,000 cash and the chance to design there very own 6-piece t-shirt collection.
The info above doesn’t make it entirely clear, but I think that the monthly winner also gets their design printed up as well as the £250 cash prize. I know that the amounts of money being talked about are slightly less than some of our more regularly discussed design competitions, but I think there is quite a lot of kudos to come from being associated by a brand like Boxfresh, I know it would certainly impress my friends more if I designed a t-shirt which had a Boxfresh tag rather than Threadless one.

1You really shouldn’t promote spec work. It devalues the work of designers everywhere by letting companies think it’s okay to get work for free on the CHANCE of getting paid.

2I think that this is probably a case of not shooting the messenger, there’s interest in design competitions, especially in the t-shirt world. I know where you’re coming from, if I were a professional designer (see the logo of this blog for an example of my skill level) I wouldn’t be happy spending time working on t-shirt designs on the off chance that I earned money.
Basically, I agree with you on a certain level, but design competitions often produce some amazing t-shirts, so I am compelled to write about them.

3Hey guys, i’ve been onto the site and it’s actually quite addictive! I’ve read the deets and i dont think they are like Threadless where they produce all deisgns, the only produce the winners and the designer gets paid? which is cool. I also saw a blog where they are attracting students and design schools so maybe its all about teh underground talent thing? Pretty cool. I know my entry is up there in teh running!

4Ummm, Threadless don’t produce all submitted designs, not by a long shot.
