GemStones wearing Gorilla Fronts by Chaunce Clothing

I may not know who GemStones is (apparently a big buddy of Lupe Fiasco), but when I’m told that he’s the next big thing in rap, I know I want to get onto that band wagon as early as I can, and ride it as far as I can. Also, he’s wearing one of my favourite tees of the moment (it goes with practically anything), Gorilla Fronts, by Chaunce Clothing, who are in the ‘Friends of HYA Club’, which isn’t actually a real thing.GemStones

367_3_lg Sara Sweatshirt by Rebe

Well, isn’t this an interesting looking piece? Obviously I’m being a bit of a tease with the close-up image, but since the tie on this hoodie/coat is the interesting part it deserves a decent view.

It’s a pretty clever garment too, I’ll let Rebe explain:

It is made of recycled fiber and trimmed with contrasting rib knit. Tie the Bow and show your support for breast cancer research. With each purchase of our Sara Sweatshirt, made from recycled fiber, we will donate 5% of all proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

How cool is that bow idea? I guess that no one except the wearer will realise the poignancy of the bow, but that’s hardly the point, is it? I like the way that the lining of the hood and back of the bow (and presumably lining of the whole thing) are a bright, refreshing pastel colour to compliment the subdued, natural colours that are on the outside of this outerwear.

This is most definitely the best shirt I’ve seen in my entire life… and I think that you would look soooooo great wearing it!

You know what’s hard to write on the internet? Sarcasm. Which is unfortunate, since almost everything said in blog comments and on forums is said sarcastically. It might just be me, I dunno, but whenever I write something sarcastic it just makes me sound mean, so I have to preface it with *The is sarcasm*, which takes the sting out of the blow somewhat.

Still, even if text t-shirts tend to get the cold shoulder in HYA, I like this one, it raised a smile, and can you really put a price on happiness? Oh, sorry, apparently you can, $16.95… I think I’ll stick with depression, thanks.

Adios & Ciao Ciao Stripes Hoody by tokidoki

tokidoki were one of the brands/artists that I didn’t expect to see popping up across Hong Kong, but I spotted a lot of people carrying their ‘tokidoki for Lesportsac‘ bags. At first I just presumed that it was another case of HK copyright infringement, but when I saw the same bags on sale in the bowels of hell (also known as Paris Charles De Gaulle airport) I presumed they were the real deal.

tokidoki’s illustrative style is pretty much perfect for me, not so much as clothes (cos I’m a dude), but in terms of art I really like it. There’s a great balance to this hoody, it seems to be teetering on the edge of craziness without ever going too far; the colourway, fun but not too loud; the characters, keeping interest without dominating the piece.
