springleap Quicktees: Spring Leap

Springleap is (yet) another design competition, excpet this one is from South Africa (I don’t think we’ve ever had an SA company on HYA before). You know the deal, tee designs get submitted, voted on (that starts April 1st on SL), and eventually winning designs are printed and sold (which should happen at SL in May).

The site design is pretty cool, and the prizes are decent (I’m a fan of designers being paid on a per-tee basis on top of a lump sum, even if it isn’t much per tee), and there is a focus upon community that isn’t seen in many other design competitions, but a design competition is only as strong as the talent in its community, so we’ll have to wait until April 1st to see what kind of design quality is available to be voted on.

In a land of doves and picturesque mountains, bad days are hard to come by. Welcome to Dove Mountain. Design also available on a clock.

I love it when artistic blurb gives way to practicalities!

Hello Kitty No 5 by Public Library

I don’t know if this is an officially licensed product (after being in Hong Kong, I’m skeptical of all Hello Kitty merchandise’s authenticity), but judging by the amount of kitten cuteness associated with Public Library from a quick Google search I’d be willing to accept them as legit.

It’s a funny design, the red bow on the corner is such a cute touch, although it would be nice if they’d actually used a white t-shirt since the Chanel No 5 perfume box is white (if I remember all of those birthday presents for my mother correctly).

Costiness=$48 (now that’s an authentic price!) Link

Cars and guns, now that’s a recipe for success!

There’s something totally 80s about the way that they’ve got a blue to pink fade going on with the print, which I guess makes sense considering Cardboard Robot’s inspiration comes from the most 80s-tastic version of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Costiness=$25 Link (I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but you can get up to 20% off your order at Karmaloop by using the rep code AS7594)
