A blog about hoodies & t-shirts

The Rumplo crew have put together a blog post that has twenty high quality costume tees. I’m usually not a fan of costume tees since they’re a bit too novelty for my tastes, but some of these are actually pretty cool, especially since most aren’t really for costumes, more like visual tricks (like the one in the pic).

I feel like I’ve been hitting the high-end a bit too much recently and posting items that cost in the triple digits, and I’m sorry about that because I know that not everyone gets to enjoy the exchange-rate like I do, but since I post about items I like, sometimes I don’t even look at the price because I know I’m not going to buy it, and I just appreciate the style regardless of price.

I’m really impressed with the modern cut of this hoodie, certainly not one for those of us that make too many visits to Krispy Kreme, the simplicity of the design leaves me struggling to find an adequate description, but everything out this hoodie (other than the lack of colour coordination on the cuffs and drawstring) seems to be spot on for me, although I guess it does look more like a coat than a hoodie, which might put some people off.

Night’s Fear by LaFraise

Night’s Fear by La Fraise

I thought I’d better show my Gallic neighbours some love this week since my good friend Richard moved to Paris this week. Hopefully I’ll be visiting in a couple of weeks which means I can give you a report of what the real Dadawan store is like after all these posts about their online store… and eat a boat-load of pain au chocolat, whoever decided that chocolate could be part of breakfast is a genius!

I really like the use of negative space in this, naturally the black lends itself.to being used as a canvas for the night sky, but this design really uses it well, and the (fairly) subtle skull is a nice touch as well.

I look at this hoodie and all I can think about is Zach Morris and his hilariously large mobile phone. How is it even possible that something so retro can look so fresh? I’ve been saying the phrase “what’s old is new again” quite a lot recently, maybe I might actually be right this time?

TeeBurst: A thing that I made!

teeburst.jpg

You might have noticed me slipping in a link to this site a couple of days ago, which was a little sneaky, I’ll admit, so I thought I’d better give it a proper mention.

TeeBurst is a site I’ve created (using this clever persons code) to deliver a constantly updated stream of t-shirt news and media. The news comes from Google News, Digg, Reddit & Technorati, whilst del.icio.us covers the social bookmarking angle, whenever someone tags something as t-shirt related on those sites, the headline of that story goes onto their TeeBurst feed. I’ve also included HYAs headlines on there since I’m a shameless self-promoter.

The media side of things keeps things looking fairly pretty, pictures of t-shirts from Flickr, and videos about t-shirts from YouTube. Interestingly, if you do a search on YouTube for ‘t-shirt‘, then most of the results (when sorted by date added) are about wet t-shirt competitions or not related to tees at all (could people please stop tagging vids with ‘t-shirt’ because someone in the video is wearing a tee?), but if you search for ‘t-shirts‘ then you find out that quite a lot of tee companies are using youtube to promote themselves.

I don’t expect TeeBurst to be a massive success, as it is just a PopUrls clone, but I’ve actually found it pretty useful over the past few days for getting new stories and keeping some of the websites I check out in one place, and hopefully you’ll find it useful too. Suggestions and comments are welcome obviously, I’d like to tweak a few things about it (colour scheme, a logo, maybe put some other tee blogs in the roster), so if you can think of anything just let me know.

Lazy Oaf now has a sale section

I wouldn’t normally post about a store adding a sale section to their site (especially since I wrote about them yesterday), but since regular-priced items in Lazy Oaf’s store are a bit much for you Dollar spenders, the sale section should be rather more welcoming to you.
