I thought I’d better show my Gallic neighbours some love this week since my good friend
Richard moved to Paris this week. Hopefully I’ll be visiting in a couple of weeks which means I can give you a report of what the real
Dadawan store is like after all these posts about their online store… and eat a boat-load of
pain au chocolat, whoever decided that chocolate could be part of breakfast is a genius!
I really like the use of negative space in this, naturally the black lends itself.to being used as a canvas for the night sky, but this design really uses it well, and the (fairly) subtle skull is a nice touch as well.

1i practically lived on pain au chocolat’s as well as normal croissants when i was in France. It is really hard to find good croissants etc. in the USA, so I gorged myself when i was surrounded by the good stuff. On a different subject…I’d like to put my vote in that I love when artists do a successful job of blending the design into the shirt. This is a pretty good example and there are a few great examples I’ve seen on Threadless (usually involving some kind of forest). Andy, I think you should make a megapost in the future with only shirts that use the negative space.

2I always liked going to get breakfast in France, picking up some different treat every morning, but I’d imagine that going to the boulangerie everyday could get a bit tiresome.
I love shirts that make decent use of negative space, but I’m not sure how popular a post like that would be (megaposts take so much time that I like to do ones that have a broad appeal).
