I don’t think I’d written anything about Threadless for absolutely ages (I figure that you guys all get their newsletters, and I’m rarely privy to any other information beyond that), and now I’ve gone and posted two Threadless-based items in 8 hours. Anyway, I’m sure that if you don’t care you can just skip over reading the press release:

LOLLAPALOOZA WANTS YOU TO DESIGN A T-SHIRT!

In the ongoing “Threadless Loves” series comes an exciting new partner, Lollapalooza! Yes, THE Lollapalooza that takes place in Chicago on August 1-3, 2008. The Lollapalooza that’s got a lineup of 130+ acts including Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, Wilco, The Raconteurs, Love and Rockets, Gnarls Barkley, Bloc Party, The Black Keys, Broken Social Scene and a whole bunch more. Created in 1991, by Jane’s Addiction front man, Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza established itself as the first large-scale showcase in the U.S. for the alternative music scene. It quickly became a lifestyle festival staple for exposing concertgoers to a subculture of ‘alternative’ living and art, and providing a platform for numerous human rights and environmental causes.

After all that, did you know that the actual word “lollapalooza” means “remarkable or wonderful person or thing?” This will be the theme for the “Threadless Loves” design submissions. If you chose to take on this challenge, your goal is to show us what inspires you and show us what makes you happy. Show us what “lollapalooza” means to you. Be sure to make it exceptional! If your design is chosen you get two 3-day passes to the Festival, two round trip air fares to the Festival from anywhere in the world, hotel accommodations for you and a friend, your design printed and sold through the Threadless store, $2000 in cash (yes, CASH) and more. Find out more and submit your design here:

I don’t know how big of a deal Lollapalooza is in the US, but it seems to me like this is one of the highest profile ‘Loves’ contests yet. I think its cool that the flights are for anywhere in the world, since contests like this usually have a little “48 contiguous states” disclaimer on them, although I can’t work out why the t-shirts aren’t being sold at the festival, unless they are and I’m being stupid.

Electric Tape by epidemic @ Bang Bang T-shirts

electrictapethumb2fullsize Electric Tape by epidemic @ Bang Bang T shirts

Ahhh, another day, another robot design, considering I only have one robot-based item of clothing (I think), I sure do write about them a lot, don’t I?

I also have a bit of a tendency to fall in love with hand drawn designs, so this tee has swept me off my feet on two counts. The designer (‘epidemic’ in the BBT community) also has a pretty great gallery on DeviantArt.

view1 Threadless: Prints you say?

Hold up! Threadless are diversifying their product offerings yet again:

Yes! Finally, you will be able to adorn your walls with awesome Threadless designs!

Starting today, we will be releasing three new THREADLESS PRINTS every Monday. Hand-numbered and in super limited initial runs of 250, these 18″ x 24″ sweet pieces of art are screen-printed locally onto high quality paper from French Paper Company. We’ve taken great care in their development and creation, and of course in their sturdy shipping vessels (as seen on Tee-V), so they’ll arrive safe, pristine, and ready for framing. Priced at $35 apiece.

This week’s lineup:
Infinity MPG
Permafrost Pollution (pictured)
Tree Town

Designers! Have your printed tee design chosen to be a THREADLESS PRINT and pocket an extra $500! Be sure to stay tuned for more fun PRINTS developments over the next few weeks.

Show off your favorite designs not only on your body… but also on display in your home, office, or wherever!

I think this has been a long time coming to be honest, and after they started offering the Blik graphics it was pretty inevitably that your chest-candy (and for once I’m not talking about boobs) was going to become wall-candy in a paper form.

turtleheadxchrisjudge Turtlehead: Chris Judge online exhibition

I was going to write a proper post about this, but Karl has done such a good job that I’m not going to bother, just go an read what he has to say about it. Oh, and if you’re wondering what this has to do with clothes, if you purchase a piece of original art from the exhibition then you get a free limited edition tee which, unsurprisingly, has been designed by Chris Judge.

All You Can Eat by Wyel88 @ Redbubble

945686 1 all you can eat All You Can Eat by Wyel88 @ Redbubble

Remember when I pointed out that Flickr Find by Wyel a couple of weeks ago? Well I had a little hunt around and found this tee by him. I think the idea is that the print is all the tings that could be found in a snakes stomach, or something like that. RedBubble are quite a new name to me, but according to their about page “RedBubble is an open and inclusive website where you can share your creative genius with the world.”…. and sell it! From the looks of things they handle the bothersome task of printing up your artwork onto t-shirts, prints, canvases, and you earn a cut. I’d really appreciate it if anyone could leave a comment if they have any experience of the quality of RedBubble products, since I haven’t heard much RedBubble chatter in the past on the blogs I read or forums I frequent.

Flickr Finds: Cigars Aren’t Penises

20.05.2008

I think that the thing I find funniest about this shirt is that it looks as if its been printed into a womens t-shirt, it seems more like something a guy would wear, in defense of his love of cigars. Well, that, and the artist “split [her] pajama trousers stooping down to paint this, right [...]
