Tell me where to go and win a $50 Threadless Gift Certificate! (and a T-shirt!)

threadlesscontest Tell me where to go and win a $50 Threadless Gift Certificate! (and a T shirt!)

I know that Threadless‘ recent sale gave you guys a great opportunity to grab some cheap tees, but who fancies picking up some free tees using a $50 gift certificate?

As I mentioned in a post yesterday, hopefully I will be moving to Philadelphia soon for an internship. I don’t really know very much about Philadelphia, other than that I’ll probably get in some kind of trouble from guys who were up to no good if I were to go and play basketball outside of school in West Philadelphia (on the plus side I would get sent to Los Angeles when my mother got scared), so I need advice from you guys about where I should go and what I should do when I make it to the city of brotherly Love.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is leave a comment on this page telling me what I should do when I get to Philadelphia. Simple, huh?

The winner of the $50 gift certificate will be judged entirely at random (using a random number generator), so even if you don’t know anything about Philadelphia you can still get in on the action. That said, if I get some really good suggestions then I’ll probably throw in another gift certificate to my favourite comment. Multiple entries do not increase your chance of winning, but feel free to comment as much as you want. I’ll keep the contest open to entries for two weeks, meaning that you’ve got until midnight on September 23rd (GMT) to get your suggestions to me.

*It appears I’ve had my wires slightly crossed, as well as the $50 gift certificate, the winner will receive Animals with Eyepatches, a design which recently won the Threadless loves Lollapalooza contest. For those of you that are unaware, Threadless Love’s… is the section of Threadless where design contests are based on a theme decided by sponsors. Threadless’ Loves… contests also have unusual prize packages beyond the usual cash and gift certificates that winners usually receive.

Wooshka’s 40-70% off sale!

by Andy on September 9, 2008

in Bargains!, Mens, Sales, T-shirts, Womens

ed719d9260cf23a804d893909e7403a9 l Wooshkas 40 70% off sale!

I know this sale doesn’t quite compare with the magic of the $1 sale that they held at the end of May, but tees for as low as $9 up to a maximum of $12 (hmmm, just like Threadless‘ last sale) is still a really good deal.

The sale runs from now until midnight (EDT) on September 18th.

Hmmm, it feels like its been way too long since I last posted about a robot t-shirt, so here’s one from Bang Bang T-shirts (who you may have noticed have a lovely new ad banner).

This design, showing a robot appreciating robotic takes on classic artworks, was the winner of their recent ‘Robots’ design competition, and was designed by daniellesgarden.

Dirty Laundry: The Art of the Stain in Modern T-Shirt Design

by Andy on September 9, 2008

in Bricks & Mortar, T-shirts

You’d think I’d be pretty skeptical of an exhibition where the only art on display is t-shirts with stains on them, but I guess that two and a half years of writing about t-shirts has changed my perspective on what art is.

Just so we’re clear, these aren’t necessarily ink stains either, some of the ‘inks’ used are made from henna, wheat grass, fish guts, and delicious ice lollies. Dirty Laundry invited artists to stain t-shirts with a medium of their choice to be exhibited in the Nuuanu Gallery in Honolulu, Hawaii. The idea behind it is to make you question whether its possible to actually ruin a t-shirt, someone spills wine on your tee? Pour more wine on it! It’s not a ruined t-shirt, its art!

The exhibition runs from now until September 20th.

PleaseDressMe – a search engine for t-shirts!

09.09.2008

I’ve read about PleaseDressMe on a few sites, and whilst the idea of a t-shirt search engine sounds a little odd to me (I don’t go hunting for tees based upon their design elements), there does seem to be a lot of people that think its a great idea, so what the hell do I [...]
