Coltesse are one of those brands that I think typify a European style of design and illustration even though I’m not really able to pin-point what it is about them that makes them seem so European (oh Andy, so good with ideas, so poor with execution). They’re running a 33% off
sale at the moment, which drops their tees from €29.90 to an altogether more friendly €20 each. The sale runs until October 10th, which is the day after International Andy Day (… my birthday).

Byron dropped a tip my way about some new
hoodies up on
sale at streetwear giant
KidRobot, pointing out
this one as his particular favourite, and whilst I’m all for bright colourways, I think that one goes a bit further than I’d be willing to. However, I do really like their rather-expensive but rather-awesome raincoat, or ‘Plastic Jacket’ to use KRs own parlance. If this was a
hoodie I’d probably be slightly unsure about buying and wearing it, but I think people can get away with a lot more when wearing something designed to combat the rain, as if the public can justify any design as long as they think the person wearing it is just wearing it to protect themselves from the wet, meaning people can wear all the crazy designs that they’d secretly love to in the dry.

Diogo Machado (aka
add fuel to the fire) is yet another artist I’d never heard of but will be trying to keep an eye on in the future because he’s “got mad skillz” when it comes to creating cute characters and crazy typography, as this design that he’s done for Yes No Maybe attests.

Just a quick note to remind you that there’s just one day left to enter the ‘Tell Andy where to go and win a $50
Threadless Gift certificate and T-shirt’ contest.
All you have to do is leave a comment on the contest post and you’ll be entered into the random draw. The best comment, as judged by me, will be receiving a $25 gift certificate. A few of the comments were picked up as being spam, and I think I caught all of them but I get a lot of spam comments so its possible I missed a few of the real comments, so if you leave a comment which don’t have loads of links in I think you’ll be okay.
Oh, and if you don’t know anything about Philadelphia, and don’t want to just make something up (I will be visiting a lot of your recommendations, remember), you could tell me something cool about where you live, since I’ll be having a bit of a road trip around the US when my internship finishes.
Tell me where to go and win a $50 Threadless Gift Certificate (and a t-shirt)!
