niwl7 Say Hello to Never In Wonderland Clothing

Here’s another brand that floated into my inbox a few days ago. The design style seems to reflect a lot of what I see over at Emptees, so hopefully Never In Wonderland will do pretty well, because, really, doesn’t the world need monster-based t-shirts right now?

Oh, and they’re pretty cheap too, so there’s no need to let the economic downturn/catasthophe stop you from getting some new threads.

bully tee 480x480 Chunky Chunk Apparel... its for kids!

We’ve already covered maternity wear this week, so I might as well move things along a couple of months and point you towards some cool clothes for babies and toddlers. I know very little about baby clothes, but I like that Chunky Chunk are producing designs which aren’t overly baby-ish, I’d actually be pretty happy wearing some of them myself, as long as they weren’t an adult one-piece… no one wants to see that, right?

Newvember at Lucha Workshop

scifidudes lg Newvember at Lucha Workshop

The folks over at Lucha Workshop dropped me a line to let me know that they’ve got a few new items in their store for November that continue to riff on their usual themes of sci-fi and vintage technology. If the tee above (a collage of many characters from sci-fi) or the hoodie and tee in the gallery don’t tickle your fancy, they’ve got an Etsy store that contains one-offs, sample items and alternate colourways.

Burger King sell t-shirts now?

by Andy on November 13, 2008

burgerkingstudio 480x305 Burger King sell t shirts now?

When I was driving up from France (reminder: just one day left to put your entry in to HYAs road-trip related competition) when we were on the British side we stopped off at a motorway service station (yes, I filled up on diesel) for lunch and I got a burger and fries from Burger King. After all that French food I thought I deserved something decent. Burger King sell burgers, that makes sense, but what doesn’t make sense is that they’ve launched a t-shirt customisation site called the Burger King Studio.

As a t-shirt site, its fairly basic, but BK probably aren’t intending to pick up on any of Threadless‘ market share, and the graphics that you can slap onto a tee are actually surprisingly cool… if you’re a fan of the Whopper.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned Cameesa before on Hide Your Arms, which is borderline criminal because they’re a website that are genuinely doing something different in a world where so many t-shirt sites seem to be pretty much the same. In case you hadn’t heard from everyone else, Cameesa are a t-shirt design competition, except that they ‘crowdfund’ the t-shirts which are released. What does crowdfunding mean? It means that instead of just voting for a tee to say you like it, you can put your money where your mouth is and actually pledge money to the design and if enough people do the same, the design will be produced, you receive a copy of the tee, and even a small dividend every time the tee is purchased. Admittedly, you probably won’t become rich by backing t-shirt designers on Cameesa, but I do think that it helps to create a sense of community on the site, and I’d presume that it also helps to ensure that Cameesa can keep business running smoothly.

Of course, like all design competitions, the thing that matters above all is the the quality of the designs that they produce and whether Cameesa can attract designers who know what makes a popular t-shirt. I like this tee, and I like what else is in their catalogue, so I don’t think that Cameesa have much to worry about in that regard. Obviously this is a tee based on a pun, so its got that going for it, but it does stand up well on its own too.

Cameesa seem to have quality levels down too, and by down, I mean that they’re good, so… the levels are high? The tee has the look and feel of an American Apparel tee, which is largely because the tee is by American Apparel, so you know what you’re in for in that regard. Print quality is pretty impressive too, I couldn’t find anything to complain about, and I looked pretty hard.
