T-shirt search directory Please Dress Me have released a really cool set of information about the t-shirt trends for the year. Well, I think it’s really cool, but I would, wouldn’t I?

You can see the top three tees of 2008, I’m not sure how that is judged, presumably by the amount of people that have viewed the page after seeing the thumbnails after a search. All three are Threadless tees, but aren’t necessarily the ‘famous’ Threadless designs.

The most popular searches of 2008 is the most interesting to me, since it is the most telling for what people are looking for and therefore the most representative of trends. Zombies are apparently de rigeur, as they sit on top of the pile, followed by the boringly generic search of tv show, and I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that people were on the hunt for Obama tees this year.

Anyone care to stick their neck out and make some predictions for hot trends next year?

Helvetica Neue Descending Sweatshirt from Typography Shop

helveticaneuesweatshirt 20 Helvetica Neue Descending Sweatshirt from Typography Shop

To be completely honest, I prefer the t-shirt version of this design to the fleece sweatshirt, the print feels a bit small for a sweatshirt, which is a garment I usually associate with a larger print. Still, its pretty rare that I get to post a sweashirt (clearly they’ve fallen out of favour with a lot of designers), and the price is certainly very attractive.

Costiness=$24.99 ($29.99 after the end of the month) Buy it at the Typography Shop

No Star dropped six new tees at the weekend, and I didn’t think they looked at good when I just looked at the thumbnails on their website (which is what you can see at the top), but then I took a look at the actual tees, and they actually look really cool, and for some reason, seem funnier.

Also, use the coupon code BIGUPS to get 40% off when you spend $100 or more, and the coupon code MEDUPS will get you 30% off orders of $40 or more. I’m not sure how long those coupons will work, but I’d be pretty surprised if they still worked after the holidays.

Sarge Hoodie by Kidrobot

6309 default l Sarge Hoodie by Kidrobot

The funny thing about this hoodie was that I was all over in until I actually saw Sarge on the back (peep the gallery for a couple of pics). I don’t actually have any real kind of a problem with the print, but when I saw the front I was hoping for a simple hoodie with just a few nice touches, but I guess I shouldn’t have expected that since this is a KidRobot hoodie. Limited to just 375 pieces, each one is individually numbered, if you’re into the whole ‘I own something barely anyone else does’ thing.

Costiness=$122.50 Buy Sarge at Kidrobot

a.mar.illo & siXsiXsiX are making A Better Tomorrow

Andre from A Better Tomorrow got in touch to let me know about a couple of new tees that won their design competition. The one in the top picture of this post is called ‘Night of the Dead’ (way to keep it festive ABT!) and is firmly planted in the burgeoning niche of ’80s puke horror’, a genre that I must thank Alex from Dance Party Massacre for coining, though he’ll get pretty pissed if you lump his tees in with them. The tee marks the first time that ABT have used waterbased ink on their tees, so this will probably be one of their softest tees yet.

The lower tee is by that most excellent stalwart of tee design competitions, Sven Palmowski, or a.mar.illo if you want to get all ‘aka’ about this. The tee is a pretty clever take on 50s B-Movies, except for instead of thinly-guised metaphors about Communists invading the US, he’s tackling the much more dangerous, and surely much more real, threat of giant fruits laying waste to the Earth.

Close ups in the gallery.

Another tee from Graniph [Review]

17.12.2008

I was about to write up another Graniph t-shirt review from the package they sent me a couple of weeks ago, but then I noticed that it wasn’t actually available on the Graniph website, as far as I can tell, so instead of doing a traditional review, I’m just going to post a few pictures. [...]
