I could do with a tee like this that lists all the different kinds of beef cuts here in America, because they’re different from what we have in the UK. I’ve eaten plenty of beef in my time, so I can usually work it out just by looking at the cut, shape and marbling, but sometimes I have no clue, seriously, what the hell is a ‘Swiss Steak’?

I love those good ol’ fashioned wood cuts. They make for some great designs. thats a beautiful tee.

I’ve never even heard of Swiss Steak, so maybe that one’s not your fault.

Andy, Andy…..wikipedia to the rescue (once again):

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_steak

    in which we learn:

Swiss steak is a method of preparing meat, usually beef, by means of rolling or pounding, and then braising in a cooking pot, either on a stove (cooker) or in an oven.

    It’s not a cut – it’s a dish.

Ahhh Pamlea, but therein lies the mystery. The meat I bought was a steak with Swiss Steak written on the packet, and it wasn’t braising steak intended for a slow cooking (as in “this steak is intended for swiss steak”), it was too thin for that, I’m so confused!

Duh! I should have realized you would have checked that already! Thought maybe the transatlantic experience had fried your thinking apparati (snob appeal version of incorrect plural there!). So – I therefore have NO idea what you bought and even though I am an All-American Girl, I never heard of it.

    :) (:

    Aha! http://www.sonic.net/~alden/MeatBeefChuck.html

Apparently I was meant to braise it, oh well, mystery solved.
