T-Shirt Hell can go to Hell… or a wittier title

Our worst fears have been confirmed, T-Shirt Hell isn’t closing, the whole “I’m closing down because of hate mail” thing was just a publicity stunt, and apparently it sold 100,000 shirts, though I don’t trust anything that comes out of Sunshine Megatron’s mouth so it could just as easily be a much smaller number…. hopefully.

Did any of you misguided souls pick up an offensive tee when you thought they were going out of buisiness?

*If you’re wondering why the picture has nothing to do with the post, I just want to have as little to do with T-Shirt Hell as possible. Also, yay Rocky!

I think it’s funny that T-Shirt Hell is the antonym of our brand, Goodie Two Sleeves. Where they try and objectify and ostracize, we try and make positive and lighthearted. We didn’t get into the shirt industry because of them by any means, but it’s certainly been interesting having a polar opposite approach to business and content than them, and still see success.

As for this stunt, I wouldn’t have expected anything different from Sunshine than that. Ever.

Well, I’m certainly not a fan of the site, but I must say that Sunshine Megatron is a pretty intense name.

Must you really hate and waa about this? Did you have yourself a good cry? Do you feel better now?

I think I could be a lot whinier about this issue Mike, I don’t like T-Shirt Hell, I don’t have a particular problem with Sunshine Megatron, he’s a businessman, I just don’t like their shirts, and if you looked back through my archives you’d understand why, because I’ve explained my reasoning. If you like them, I’m okay with that, everyone is allowed to like different things, so there’s no need to act like a jerk just because someone has a different opinion to you.

the site may be trashy as all hell… but this is hilarious:

I’m not trying to be a jerk here, Andy. As a stand-alone article, this simply reads as an unsubstantiated whine. I’ve never seen your site before, and I’m not even sure what brought me here today – but here I am. It would have been good to have a reference/link back to a previous article where you detailed your gripe against T-Shirt Hell – and I would have certainly followed it to read why, and simply be on my way.

It would be good to have references like that to substantiate your view/opinion when you whitewash people as “misguided” for enjoying the depraved humor over at TSH. I consider that acting like a jerk too.

Namaste

You make a fair point Mike, maybe I should have linked back to my original article (http://hideyourarms.com/2009/01/26/tshirt-hell-shuts-internet-gasps/) but at the time TSH ‘closing’ was big news across all tee blogs, so it didn’t really need much explaining at the time, I usually write my posts with the regular readers in mind, rather than the ones surfing in from Google or other sources.

The ‘misguided souls’ thing was partly a joke, like I said before, if you like them that’s fine, I wear what I like, you wear what you like, and my readers know that, I’ve written about t-shirts before that I don’t like because I think other people might like them. I can see why it would look like me being a jerk to someone that’s only seen one post on this site, if you saw a few others (there’s 2619 of them as I write this comment) you’d probably see the way I write and that I never mean any harm, though I’d like to think that people that buy TSH tees would have thicker skins than to be offended by being called ‘misguided souls’ I know a lot of people have been called worse on the street.

And if you think I’m whiny, I recommend that you don’t research what other t-shirt bloggers wrote about them when the whole ‘closing down’ saga was occurring, you’ll find that I’m actually quite moderate. And yes, having a good cry now and then is actually quite healthy, so I did, thanks.
