I forgot to mention this earlier in the week when I mentioned an interview with Mr. Cupcakes, but they’ve got a few new designs in store that you might want to check out. One of them (top left of the image) was limited to 200 pieces, so it has unsurprisingly sold out, despite having a ludicrous $50.99 price tag. People rag on JC for overcharging with $35 tees, and I usually don’t think that’s too ridiculous of a price, but I can’t see where the extra value is in this tee to justify the extra $16, making something limited edition isn’t a license to raise the price. I like JC, and when I visit Boston in May his store is pretty much the first place on my list to visit (seriously), but I just don’t like that business tactic.
Oh, and if you’re looking for a mighty fine cupcake in Philadelphia, try Brown Betty, I’ve never been to their location in Northern Liberties, but the one just down the street from my building in Rittenhouse makes a mighty fine cake, though it is a Johnny Cupcakes-esque $3 per cupcake (which is why they’re a rare treat in my apartment). If you’re up near Reading Terminal Market Termini Bros. do a good one for $1, though the frosting is nothing to write home about. It’s a good thing that I walk everywhere in Philly, otherwise I’d probably have to start asking people to send me bigger tees!
