gallery enlarged 0610 rpatz kristen ultimatum 11 426x640 OMG Robert Pattison and Kristin Stewart Have Both Worn a Delicious Vinyl T Shirt!!!11!!!

I guess you could call this a shameless attempt for me to get extra traffic to HYA, and you’d be right. I don’t really understand what all the fuss is about Twilight, I guess it’s the new Harry Potter. I was at lunch in Philly one day across the street from a rock venue/bar called The Khyber, and there was a queue of women (who all looked the same, which was weird) who had obviously been queuing for quite some time, some had self-made t-shirts for a band called 100 Monkeys, some people had monkey hats, someone even had an inflatable banana. I guess it was pretty obvious that my friends and I were confused as to 1) who were 100 Monkeys, and 2) why were people queuing up several hours before a gig to see them, as a group of people from the queue told us that they were waiting to see “Jackson from Twilight’s band.” Naturally, when he and the rest of the band arrived, I expected Beatle-mania, but things were actually pretty calm and no one tried to cut off a lock of his hair for their vampire-styled shrines.

Anyway, whilst I was learning the fascinating news that Robert Pattison was issuing Kristen Stewart an ultimatum to get serious about their relationship (I hate myself for writing that, and admitting I know about it), I noticed that Kristen was wearing a pretty cool tee in the accompanying shots, and whilst I was searching for the tee I found that Robert Pattison had been spotted in the same design (possibly even the same tee). Two birds, one stone, I love it!

The tee has ‘Delicious Vinyl’ written on it, which made this celebritee sleuthing really rather easy since I just had to Google it, but hey, I did find the tees..

The Werd – Got My Druks On

by Andy on June 12, 2009

The Werd – Got My Druks On from Druks Paris on Vimeo.

Is it weird that on the very same day that I post about how me blaming anything on gangsta rap would be ridiculous that I post a rap video and actually quite like it?

Anyway (the bird is) The Werd apparently really like Druks clothing, because he wrote a whole song about them, and fair play to him, because they do have some pretty sweet streetwear.

burnkylie3 480x270 Grim Threads dont depress me nearly as much as they should

In their words:

My clothing line, Grim Threads, blends the darkness of the macabre with bright, bold colors of graffiti
and street art.

It’s unusual to find a brand that has designs focused on the more macabre side of life (though I don’t find these designs to be that ‘dark’), and yet they’re totally onboard with non-depressing colourways. It’s unusual, and I like it.

Can you imagine if I wore this? The levels of irony would be so dangerously high that if I started listening to Journey at the same time I’m pretty sure the world would kerplode.

Congrats to Alex Vandenberg who put together the above gif showing off his extensive collection of Threadless tees to win T-shirt Magazine’s Tee Maniacs comeptition. I wouldn’t usually post about someone winning a competition on another site, but come on, how cool is that gif!

grover jones black curious tales mens organic t shirt 6a Curious Tales make Curious T shirts (and give HYAers a 25% off coupon code)

In their own words:

The label is called Curious Tales and it combines my love of
storytelling, fashion and the environment. (I also do upcycled clothes
and they were the inspiration for the stories, I started wondering
about who had worn the clothes before and started writing about them!)

All the tees feature scribbly drawings and the start of a story about
a weird character. On some of the men’s tees there’s a scribbly
headless body printed on the front so you become the character as soon
as you put it on.

They’re interactive as well, because you can get creative and continue
the tale yourself, uploading endings to the tale on the website.

Check them out at www.curioustales.com

Because I’m a boring old cynic I don’t really buy into all this ‘tales’ business, no matter how whimsical they might be, but I do like the hand drawn designs, and the tees being made of organic cotton or bamboo is a plus as well (I’m so into bamboo tees at the moment, really soft, great for summer). Curious Tales don’t just do tees either, they’ve got a whole load of accessories too.

From now until July 10th you guys can enjoy a very generous 25% off your order by entering the coupon code hideyourarms at the checkout, which is nice.

June 12, 2009

This cool looking scarf/necklace was featured in Instructable’s weekly newsletter, and I thought it looks no nice (and presumably easy though I haven’t actually looked at the tutorial properly yet) that I’d share it with you, so if you were wondering “what should I do with this old t-shirt?” wonder no more! Bloc28 x Disney at Urban Retro, because apparently Mickey Mouse is cool

June 12, 2009

One of the things I noticed on my two trips to Asia in ’07 and ’08 (cripes, I might not make it to Asia this year) is that big brands there like to collaborate with smaller brands, especially in the clothing world. I can understand why Louis Vuitton want to collaborate with Murakami, but why [...]
