The
I Am The Trend crew released the latest iteration of their guide to all things independent last week and I must say that it looks great. Unless I’m missing something they seem to have dropped the directory nature of the site (this may have happened a while ago?), so I guess they’re a competitor now… so I should probably be doing some trash talking, but you
know HYA is too nice to stoop to that level!

Threyda are a new clothing line who look as if they’ve been doing this for years judging by how accomplished their designs look and the way that despite having a few different styles the tees are all brought together as what appears to be a pretty cohesive range. So, if you like the look of this tee, then it’s pretty likely that you’ll enjoy their other designs too. Also, from what I can tell, the tees come in boxes too, which is always fun for packaging fans.
Costiness=$29.95 For men, for women

Apparently, Hollywood Gum is big in France and that’s why this tee is funny, and whilst I wasn’t really on a gum hunt in France last month I don’t remember seeing it during my daily visits to the supermarkets around the St. Tropez Bay, so maybe they’re more of a cult product? So clearly, my understanding of this design doesn’t go past the skills of Piu Piu as an illustrator, and it’s obvious that she’s got that nailed, but since I can’t relate to the pop culture reference them I’m still struggling to get excited about the tee that won
laFraise‘s €15,000 competition.
Costiness=€19 for men, €24 for women

Bile Hendersen are clearly a young brand, if you click on any of the links on their site other than buy, you will be met with the words ‘coming soon’. However, what you’ll find in
their Big Cartel powered store is most definitely ready for viewing, as is clearly evidenced by the cool tee above. From the looks of things they’re aiming to promote each of their designs in fun ways too:
Our goal with this company is to make bizarre, outlandish and tongue-in-cheek designs and then promote them by doing strange and hopefully amusing skits out in public that we would tape and then post on our website, youtube, etc…The idea is to share the attitude and personality behind our designs and beyond them.

To promote this tee and the brand in general they went around with a parade float dressed as the character, which is unusual to say the least, and I’m interested to see what they come up with for the other designs.

If you’re wanting to get a jump on next year’s Halloween festivities (I’ve missed out on Halloween for the past 4 years because of my French adventures) then there would be few better ways to do it than with a tee or two from
Akumu Ink. The latest release is the single tee you can see in the pics, dubbed ‘The Ripper’, which it’s probably fair to assume is a design based upon famed serial killer
Jack The Ripper. If you like the Akumu style then it’s pretty likely that you’re going to like this design, they have a look tha works and it’s no surprise that they stick to it, especially as there aren’t any other companies out there that I can think of with a similar style.
Also added to their store recently are some package options. You get to pick the tees and/or hoodie in each of the three package options (one package does feature a ‘mystery’ tee), and receive a discount that equates to 10-15% off buying the items individually.

When I first found out about
Holebrain back in August I was pretty excited because it was a British designer, prionting tees himself, going out to markets and selling them himself, and selling them at a price that shouldn’t be too shocking to American wallets. In short, I like Holebrain and want them to do well, this second wave of releases doesn’t change my stance, as these latest designs are from the same mould as what we have seen before, and as the saying goes “if it ain’t broke, keep making cool t-shirts.”
You’ll need to click through to see the rest of the new releases, but I thought I’d better point out that Holebrain are now selling a hoodie with a hood print, because it was so cold in my room this morning I didn’t want to get up, so clearly it’s hoodie weather now.
