Sometimes I get an e-mail and I’m so dumbfounded that I have to post it. MyFreeImplants.com is exactly what you think it is, it’s a site where women who want breast implants but don’t want to or can’t pay for them, so they chat and interact with benefactors. Benefactors pay to be on the site by using ‘credits’ to send messages and that kind of thing, and the credits go to the women. I feel slightly uneasy that such a site exists, but at the same time I have to keep reminding myself that “different strokes for different folks”, and maybe this is empowering to women in some way.
Apparently, there is a big demand for t-shirts on the site, and so they’re having a design competition to find that design. The deadline is June 21st, and the prize is $100 of site credit, find all the details here. I can’t see too many designers from the HYA audience being too interested, but who knows, maybe a totally badass t-shirt would make me change my mind about this site.
