ShirtDeck is reborn!

t-shirt coupon codes

You will probably remember last year when I told you about a new site that I was working on called ShirtDeck that would be a marketplace for secondhand and rare t-shirts. Well, that didn’t pan out, to be honest it was too big of a job for just me to accomplish to a point where I’d actually be happy with it.

I’d been thinking for a while that it would be cool if there was a RetailMeNot that was focused more closely on the indie t-shirt world, so why shouldn’t I be the one to build it? People like t-shirts, people like spending less money on things, and brands like getting exposure, so it seemed like a winner for everyone involved. With that in mind I decided to switch the generic-but-cool-sounding ShirtDeck to being a t-shirt coupon codes website, where people can find and share t-shirt coupon codes and other deals.

I soft-launched the site yesterday over Twitter & Facebook and so far the response has been pretty good. As we’re only a day in obviously the database of coupons is quite small, but it is growing and with the help and support of t-shirt brands the amount of coupons will grow massively over the next few months, creating a fantastic resource for t-shirt buyers.

If you’d like to help out, please submit a t-shirt coupon or deal , the submissions go straight onto the site (no waiting), though you do have to pass one of those pesky reCAPTCHA tests which are a necessary evil. You can also sign up for an account which has a few benefits such as being able to manage your own coupons (editing them and the expiry date, that kind of thing). I would also be very appreciative of any tweets (@ShirtDeck is the twitter account for this project, and unlike @hideyourarms it will be all business), Facebook status updates (here’s the obligatory ShirtDeck Facebook page), blog posts, Stumbles, anything to help get this off the ground and rolling.

So you decided to turn a site for rare second hand shirts into a site for coupons. Sorry about being a negative creep, but for me that’s taking something super exciting and turning it into what my least favorite shirt blogs are already doing all the time.

Please give the “old and rare” idea another chance – that idea is great!

I get what you’re saying Ola, but like I said in the first papragraph, I just couldn’t build the first idea myself, and I’d rather do something with the name than nothing. I’m not a web developer and there isn’t really anything out there that would have worked for me out of the box or with little modification, and I wasn’t willing to take the risk of spending thousands of dollars having it developed when I didn’t really know how big the market would be.

It would have been nice if I could build it, but at the moment it’s not possible for me.

Yeah, I understand. It’s just… it sounds like such a great thing if you could get it to take off…. All the best of luck anyway!
