As someone with an unhealthy love of sugary things and t-shirts any brand that fuses food and fashion interests me, so when I got an e-mail from Brandon at Mister Pops I thought they seemed right up my street. They are!

I’ve actually written about some of Brandon’s work in the past as he was the man behind Electric Threads. Hopefully thats the right link, I can’t find another Electric Threads on HYA. That Brandon isn’t completely new to the tee world is reassuring to me, it suggests that he will have taken everything that he’s learned from that experience and will be able to avoid many of the pitfalls that hinder new brands during their formative months.

The brand takes it’s inspiration for a candy shop in the 50s, with the candy shop representing being a child at heart. The ‘child at heart’ aspect isn’t coming through strongly in the designs or style yet, but it’s tough to judge a brand based on four designs. The designs are pretty strong, I’d happily wear any of them and it’s pretty unusual that I feel that way, the simplicity of the crossed lollipops works really well for me, and the two more complicated crest-style designs are something that a lot of brands (and customers) are going for at the moment. Mister Pops shows a lot of promise and I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with in the future.
