Post image for “Hallows Kitty” Harry Potter x Hello Kitty shirt at MySoti

I shouldn’t really post this shirt since it’s one of those mashups where I think it pushes the boundaries a bit in terms of copyright, especially as there are so many Hello Kitty collaborations which play with the iconic character which mean that a parody or mashup shirt could easily be confused with the real thing. Still, fun looking shirt!

Post image for LOTS of New Tees, Hoodies, and More Over at Venus Fallen!

Venus Fallen added 33 new items into their shop, wow, what a selection of products AND styles. A wide variety including tees (of course), long sleeved crewnecks, pull-overs, hoodies, baseball tees, sweatshirts, belts, wallets, buttons – it’s a lot, I’m telling you! It was hard for me to pick only a few to show you, so go take a look in the shop for the whole selection.

Also, the popular and obviously fun Science Gives Me A Hadron tee (that was even shared by the one and only, George Takei) has been made into a zip-up, neat!

Post image for 6dollarshirts launches in the UK as £10poundtees, gives you a worse deal in the process

In my Facebook sidebar a few days ago I noticed an ad for a site called 10poundtees who had a rather familiar model with an epic beard, so I just had to click though. Proof that Facebook advertising works every so often!

Clearly, this is just a UK front for the 6dollarshirts empire, the shirts are still sent from their HQ in Florida and the designs are the same. Maybe in the future they’ll add some more Brit-centric designs but for now there’s just a selection of their designs which are currently available on their main site.

In terms of price, you’re probably thinking that $6 is a lot less than £10, and you’d be right, but 10poundtees do offer ‘free’ shipping on UK orders. This made me wonder what the price difference is compared to ordering from the main 6dollarshirt site, let’s look at the numbers remembering that these are the same shirts being sent from the same location to the UK.

1 shirt from 10poundtees = £10
1 shirt from 6dollarshirts = $6 + $9.78 delivery charge (approximately £9.83 according to a Google currency conversion checked 30/10/12)

2 shirts from 10poundtees = £20
2 shirts from 6dollarshirts = $6 + $6 + $15.78 delivery charge (approximately £17.31)

3 shirts from 10poundtees = £30
3 shirts from 6dollar shirts = $6 + $6 + $6 + $20.68 delivery charge (approximately £24.08)

10poundtees do have a discount for buying 10 shirts, there doesn’t seem to be a mention of it on the site but when you add 10 shirts to your cart the grand total comes to £90, a £10 saving. At 6dollarshirts you get a $10 saving making 10 tees $50. Let’s run the numbers on that one:

10 tees from 6dollarshirts = $50 + $56.22 delivery charge = $106.22 (approximately £66.13)
10 tees from 10poundtees = £90

I could go on, but I think that I’ve made my point, with the exchange rate being as it is at the moment there is no reason for you to make an order through 10poundtees, even when buying a single shirt. If you’re going to get more then you’re spending about £3 more per shirt ordering through 10poundtees instead of 6dollarshirts since their delivery rates scale by weight whereas 10poundtees build the delivery prince into the shirt price, so the delivery cost is effectively fixed per shirt.

I have found two instances in which it IS cheaper for Brits to order from 10poundtees. 10poundtees charge £10 for all their shirts, including 2XL sized shirts, whereas 6dollarshirts add on a $2 charge for that, so in that case the overall price for ordering 1 shirt is £10 vs $17.78 (approximately £11.08), but if you’re going to order more than one XXL shirt in your order then you might as well go to 6dollarshirts as 2 shirts will cost about £19.80 vs £20 at 10poundtees, and the gap only gets wider as you add more shirts. Similarly, 6dollarshirts charge $0.50 for a girly fitted tee, which makes ordering a single girls shirt from there $16.28 (approximately £10.13) versus £10 at 10poundtees, and of course if you order more than one shirt it again becomes cheaper to order them from 6dollarshirts. I know we’re only taking about a few pence here when buying one shirt, I just wanted to make it clear that I have looked at it and I’m not just making a blanket statement based on a quick glance at the site.

So, apart from being a nicer looking site it would appear that 10poundtees hasn’t get a lot going for it compared to it’s bigger brother, which makes it all a bit pointless for me, though I am quite sure that guys like me aren’t the reason for this site being created, they want to attract a more casual buyer who doesn’t pore over every detail of a t-shirt. If I’ve missed something then please do let me know because I wouldn’t want to make unfair comparisons about the two sites.

Post image for HYA Hoodies £22 until Sunday, extremely limited quantities available

It’s getting cold out, it’s already snowing in some parts of the Northern hemisphere and it feels as if it’s not that far off here at HYA HQ, so I’ve decided to put the HYA hoodies on sale so that you guys can stay warm during the winter months in a quality hoodie that will keep you super-warm, the thick, soft lining feels just lovely. I’ve always been really proud of my hoodies and I’d love for them to be out in the world rather than being stored in my house waiting to be worn, so if you are a fan of HYA then this is the best opportunity to pick one up at a great price. I am unfortunately down to just S & XL sizes, and pretty limited amounts of those at that, so if you want one, I recommend that you place your order ASAP. I probably won’t be doing a reprint any time soon so this ould be your last chance for a while to pick up a high-quality hoodie at a low price and support HYA in the process.

Head over to the HYA store to place your order, and check out the rest of the goods that we have on offer.

You’ll notice that I didn’t say ‘new’ in the title, that’s because I meant to post this more than a week ago and then forgot too, still, better late than never.

Post image for Wrongwroks celebrates 7th Anniversary with a collection of classic tees

Congratulations to Wrongwroks for hitting their seventh anniversary. To celebrate the occasion they’re re-releasing some tees from the early days of the brand, including that Kate Moss image that I still have on a trucker cap somewhere. It’s a nice idea, especially when you’ve released as many designs as Tony has over the years.

Andy: It would be nice if they had a model shot of this tee because their other shirts looks really nice quality when they’re worn by a model, but with it being a new shirt I guess they haven’t had time to get around to it.

Post image for WeLoveFine & Cheezburger Present the “I Can Has Cats” T-Shirt Design Contest!

It kind of amazes me that this is a thing, but when you consider that I spend all day writing about t-shirts and looking at camera straps (Rigu!) then I guess that it isn’t that weird. However, if I were an artist I’m not entirely sure I’d want a cat, and a grumpy cat at that, deciding who gets awarded the prizes. Here’s all the details:

They are either your adorable, easygoing non-descript house pet… or they are our fluffy overlords who have taken over the internet, and soon, THE WORLD! Well, maybe, but we sure know which we would bet on, which is why we decided to launch our latest themed design contest on all those crazy CATS! Whether they are part of’s extensive (and hilarious) LOLCats archive, or a regular staple on your Tumblr feed, or an actual silly, awesome cat that belongs to YOU (and totally sits on your laptop every time you’re trying to work. Maaan, come on!) – take inspiration from the feline phenomenon and show us your most outstanding cat-based artwork! It can be funny, it can be just plain rad… it can feature kittens, old cats, fat cats, hairless cats, munchkin cats…. cats with frickin’ LASERS shooting out of their eyes! Anything your imagination can come up with, it could win you up to $2,500 and the chance to have your tee added to WeLoveFine’s shop! We and our pals at Cheezburger can’t wait to see what you all come up with, so go for it. From here until the winners’ announcement, every day is CATURDAY!

Tees from Aesthetic Apparatus

by billpyle on October 30, 2012

Aesthetic Apparatus is an awesome graphic design studio from Minneapolis. I first became aware of them because of their awesome poster work, but they’ve done plenty of other work including shirts and logos, among other things. Their store features a wide variety of different items and I’ve selected my two favorite shirts: USA-OK and Too Small to Fail. I really enjoy the simplicity of the designs, although they could be printed a bit bigger. Their product shots could be better as well. They show off the design well enough, but I can’t help but wish they showed the entire shirt as well as someone modeling it. Both shirts are printed on American Apparel and are $20 a piece.

Post image for Project A Apparel – “Departures and Arrivals” AW2012 Collection

Dualta from Irish brand Project A Apparel got in touch to let me know that their latest collection (which, as those images attest, is a pretty big release) is up for pre-order now ahead of the full drop on November 10th.

Dublin-based streetwear label Project A Apparel showcases its Autumn/Winter 2012 collection “Departures and Arrivals”. Continuing a tradition of themed drops, this collection crosses classic travel imagery with horror graphics. The new pieces feature Project A’s first forays into outerwear with a flecktarn camouflage jacket, and “deadliest catch” style coach windbreaker. The rest of the collection features tees, zip ups, crews and hats.

I’m impressed, it’s great to see how much this brand has developed from the first time I head from them years ago, seeing that kind of progression is one of the nice things about HYA being around for as long as it has.

Digisin Special Edition Packaging

by Mr Four Fingers on October 30, 2012

We featured Digisin in a review awhile ago and now I have the pleasure of showing how they are successfully growing into a pretty wicked brand. We at Mr Four Fingers recently teamed up with Digisin by having some of our illustrations added to his online store. There will be another post showing the collection soon.

The packing you see here is a part of their ‘special edition’ selection and I can’t help but feel that this was also chosen in response to some recent postage issues Digisin had. By that I mean the customers box looked like it was delivered by Ace Ventura (I nicked that from a FB comment). So as you can see there is a polite sicker notice informing the person delivering that packaging to treat with respect. I love this ‘paint tin’ packaging and is officially the coolest I have received from any brand.

When we first reviewed Digisin they were using Softstyle Gildans and have sinced moved up to the Gildan premium t-shirts, which is pretty decent and a far better fit than the standard Gildan. It also happens to be a great surface for Direct to Garment printing (which is what they do). As you can see we we have two images printed onto darker fabrics, so what I can tell you is that when you initially get the t-shirt the design will feel a little stiff, like plastisol ink but after a wash it loosens up nicely.

Chaos Rules – £16.99

Visions – £16.99

Digisin has also upped their game by getting nice hem tags and inside collar tags and the pack also includes a neat little swing tag sticker and old school movie cards that you can collect. Since I first found Digisin I have seen a marked increase in product development, new artists to his collective and an overall improvement.

The future is bright.
