Scared Til Death have really impressed me with this ‘Winter’ (they’re Australian) collection of tees crew necks and hoodies (there’s more available but I thought seven pictures was enough), though the price is a bit off-putting to a European spoiled by all the free samples that I’ve received over the past few years, at AUD$60 for a tee which equates to pretty much USD$60 these days. It’s a lot for a t-shirt, but knowing the Australian market I would expect that they aren’t actually making a large markup on that, t-shirts simply cost more in Australia to the point where it has the unfortunate consequence of pricing out most customers from outside the country, especially if you add on the postage charges ($24 to the US for a tee, $28 to the UK). Honestly, it’s just too much and it’s something that I can’t ignore, which is a real pity.

Impressive new collection from Sin Star, I’d say that it follows a lot of the trends that are hot in the UK at the moment, but I’m fairly sure that does Sin Star a disservice since they’re probably actually influencing the scene at the moment. There’s a load more in the collection but I didn’t want to put too many images in this post.

You can generally tell how much I like a collection by the amount of pictures that I share of it, sometimes if it’s a big release from a brand I might skip one or two of the items just for the sake of brevity, but in the case of this #TokyoTribes collection from Project A Apparel I’ve included every item, if not all of the many, many lookbook photos the are available. Here’s what Project A have to say about the collection:

Project A Apparel are back with their first drop from their SS 2013 line, this time taking a trip to the far east with #tokyotribes. The first release from the collection focuses on the brand’s experiences and influences from Japan, taking in imagery from classic anime movies , Bosozuku biker gangs and video games. Featuring graphic tshirts, sweatshirts, a zip up hoody, hats as well as their very first illustrated oxford shirt. The new collection showcases two guest collaborators, Dublin artist Morgan who worked on the Lucky Pussy tee and patch graphics and world renowned Irish godfather of graffiti, Rask.

The collection was actually released on May 1st, but as I was away I’m sure you’ll forgive me for being a bit tardy with this one.

I am constantly impressed by the quality of designs at Sevenly, but it’s so depressing hearing about all the people that they’re helping with their charity donations. Can’t a guy just bury his head in the sand and enjoy the fantastic artwork?

This week $7 from every tee sale if going to the Polaris Project, which works to help fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

I was going through the lookbook for the third season of releases from LUVD and just when I expected it to end a new item popped up, which has resulted in the massive gallery you can see below, and I haven’t even included all the images!

It is a wonderful release from LUVD, my standard yardstick of whether I like a collection is whether I would wear it, and in this case I can say yes, I would wear absolutely every item. The standout piece for me is the ‘Forgive’ t-shirt, I like the typework on it, but they’ve done a good job with the logo items as well. Great lookbook photography really helps to bring it all alive too. Tee are $24/26, and hoodies will set you back $45.

I like lookbook videos, especially when they come from brands that I haven’t heard of before, it’s a really good visual introduction and helps give a good feeling for what the brand are about. However, in this case it also brought up a fairly large error from the outset which distracted me for the rest of the video. Just after the title splash we can see the front of one of their new hats (best view at 10 seconds), with Rawvault in large text and the phrase “Get What Your Given” embroidered on it. Unfortunately, I haven’t made the typo in that phrase, they have, as if should be “Get What You’re Given.” As the range is not yet on sale on their site (though lots of other cool stuff is from their own brand and others, nice to see The Quiet Life in there) hopefully that means it’s samples in the lookbook and they can have the correct spelling on the full run because I wouldn’t buy something if I knew there was an error on it as Iwouldn’t want to wear something that would lead to know-it-alls like myself correcting the spelling on my clothing. Or maybe it’s meant to be spelled wrong, that seems like something that cool brands might do.

I’m usually fairly cynical about charity t-shirt sites, Sevenly has proven to be an exception since they always (always!) have good looking tees and give a good portion of the shirt cost to charity, but the effect that this weeks donation can give has really floored me. As usual, buying a shirt from Sevenly will result in $7 going to their chosen charity of the week, which this week is End7, a charity dedicated to eliminating seven neglected tropical diseases by 2020, a lofty goal, but why aim low when you’re dealing with diseases?

You’d think it would be quite expensive protect children from seven different diseases, but it’s actually just 50c, and that’s not for one dose, that’s protection for a whole year, so your $7 will ensure that 14 kids don’t get “elephantiasis, river blindness, trachoma, snail fever, hookworm, whipworm and roundworm.” It’s amazing just how much of a difference such a small amount of money can make.

Also, the designs look great!

Sevenly have teamed up with Next Door (a charity fighting domestic abuse) to raise some money for their important work. As usual the designs are top notch, they seem to always have a solid line-up of designs over at Sevenly. $7 from each sale goes directly to the charity so if you like any of the designs then pick one up and feel better about yourself for helping someone out!
