Six tee, one crew neck, and one snapback hat, that’s what I’d call a solid release from Simply Complicated for the Spring. There’s nothing too busy here, they’re all strong, icon-like designs (I’m being careful not to describe them as iconic) and I’ve be happy to wear any of them.

Go ahead, take a good look at the new Winter line from Tribe, I sure did and it impressed me (a lot.) Between the six new tees and the new crewneck, I am not sure what I love best, but you can definitely call me a fan. I prefer the simple aspects about all the designs; their name placed amongst well designed, clean motifs – it’s pretty stunning. While you’re there, take a look at their Fall 2011 line, the entire collection will be on sale until Sunday, February 5th.

Tribe also released a lookbook for the Winter line, showcasing  their cool tees (and a lot of pretty people), which is guaranteed to get you excited about the new line! So go take a peek, you won’t be sorry – that’s a promise!

Sleepy Dan hood sweaties released in December, I had to release one cut n sew project for the first year so you can be sure there will be some more customized designs for the upcoming years! I can not emphasize enough, process is the most important part of any project. The rugby style hoodie is a design just recently hitting trend so I had to make some comfortable enough to bear the Sleepy Dan brand! In my day job as an apparel designer, I have learned how to work with embroidery shops to create apparel patterns, but sometimes several of the finishing steps have to be done on your own to save on cost. That’s how I was able to make these hoodies so affordable.

Coming from the manufacturer, I had to make some custom modifications past adding the logo embroidery appliques and the new custom neck labels for outerwear… This hoodie has several exposed cover stitch seams, so you can easily see it’s custom made, but the excess seam fabric had to be trimmed up a little more to be finished.

After finishing, the logo embroidery appliques are hand stitched to the garment, then the size labels are machine stitched into the neck seam. What makes this hoodie so special is the herringbone cotton twill neck seam, rugby placket, and hood seam edge. The time invested to this project is longer than a t-shirt design, but the fan and blogger reviews of the hood sweatie are amazing for the first cut n sew design. Research and development are a key role in the process of a successful project, so don’t overlook your process at any stage! Hope you got one before they sold out…

I’m not nearly cool enough to have heard of Marshall Artist before Street Casuals dropped me an e-mail about them, but I like their style, everything is very clean and wearable. I could natter on for a while but to be honest the SC press release about the goods is far too well put together for me to ignore, so you can find that after the break.

Marshall Artist spring summer 2012 collection is now available at streetcasuals.com. With Marshall Artist’s signature spin on modern British tailoring, this collection is set to be the strongest yet and is packed with some great pieces and nods to it’s British heritage.

The outerwear, always a strong area for Marshall Artist has some great new designs and re-workings of classic styles. The Tailored Golf Blazer is based on a traditional 1930′s golfing blazer and is a must have piece for Spring 2012. The blazer is constructed from a medium wale brush corduroy and features 2 large bellow pockets, a small leather welted ticket pocket, reinforced canvas shoulder details and a slanted chest pocket with button flap.

In addition we also have the classic Nautical jacket, a staple in the Marshall artist collection and this season made in a indigo waxed chambray fabric.This classic vintage sailing jacket has a centre front storm flap concealing a full length zip and features several beautifully finished leather details. The Nautical jacket also features metal cantilever clasps at the chest and is constructed from a summer weight waxed cotton chambray fabric.

The nautical theme continues in the knitwear collection with the sailing cardigan a fully-fashioned shawl collar cardigan made from 100% cotton. This piece features vintage buttons on the centre front placket and a canvas patch pocket and single welt pocket at the lower front, a shawl collar and two contrast stripes on the sleeve.

In the jersey section we feature the classic sweatshirt, aptly named as it is a vintage washed fleece sweater, a Marshall artist classic for spring 2012. This piece is constructed from unbrushed french terry cotton and features a leather welt stash pocket on the chest, leather branding and embroidered eyelets.

In the t-shirt section we highlight the Naval gym t-shirt a classic jersey tee with excellent attention to detail. The t-shirt features contrast cover stitching details under the arms, a concealed woven patch pocket at the inside of the lower front body and a small button placket at the throat.

Finally we have the very timely release of the vintage Sherlock t-shirt, constructed from super soft cotton jersey and features a floral silhouette print of the British icon Sherlock Holmes and finished in a vintage wash for a worn in look.

Ninenuckles is a new clothing company based in the UK.

Aimed at the older bruised generation of skaters, slammers and the ones who don’t like big prints.

Andy: It’s quite hard to judge a company when they’re producing things like this that are quite minimal, the quality of the products makes so much more of a difference and that’s something we cannot judge from pictures alone, but I certainly like the idea of a company for skaters that don’t necessarily want to be quite as loud with their clothing.

I think that this shirt has a pretty decent mantra on it, sometimes when I life before I was with my girlfriend it does seem like I didn’t do very much, even if I’m sure I was busy all the time (just like now), but now that I’m with her I do so much more interesting stuff (I swim in lakes, what an unusual hobby?!). In summary, my girlfriend is lovely, and these t-shirts and tank tops from bsclly are pretty neat too. You can pick them both up for 25€ now.

Well that’s certainly a large release!

I think that this wave of releases has helped to round out the offerings at Magik City, for a brand to be successful they can rarely get by with a small collection of tees, reaching a critical mass of products is important. The shirts and sweatshirts that Magik have released are all a bit different, yet retain the same feel as the rest of the brand, so hopefully there will be something in the store for everyone.

Outcry Apparel impressed with their first release last year, and this latest addition to their collection does nothing to hurt that growing reputation. The sweatshirt is currently available for pre-order for the very reasonable price of €25.

This hoodie and sweatshirt duo were released before the New Year, but as I had little intention of blogging during the break they have had to wait until now to be mentioned.

They’re a bit of a departure for Sleepy Dan, traditionally he’s done screen printed goods, but these cut & sew pieces show the direction that he wants to go in the future. I am seriously impressed with the level of detail that Dan has gone to with this release, clearly he’s trying to produce something very unique and interesting, but quite understated and classy. It feels to me like a step up for the brand trying to hit that next level and I like that because I’m sure it means that we’ll be seeing some great blog posts from Dan this year. Speaking of which I really hope that Dan will get the chance to talk about the new goods here on HYA, since the production process on a cut & sew product like this would probably very interesting.

Despite all the extra details on each item they aren’t going to be breaking the bank, with the sweatshirt coming in at $35 and the hoodie at $40, bargain!

I like the style of the graphic on this sweater & hoodie from Dawn Clothing (a Belgian brand), there’s a kind of graphic novel feel to it that lends itself to the design. Here’s some info about the item from Dawn themselves:

- The hoodie/sweater itself is made of 100% organic fair trade cotton, so it’s good for both man and earth.
- it is printed with environmental friendly water-based inks.
- I really focused on getting the best blanks I could this time, ensuring that they would be super soft,
warm and fit nicely. And at the same time not only carry a message of change with the brand
and it’s designs, but actually have an impact myself by using organic and fair trade products.
- The design is about having a close-minded or limited view on the world/life. I thought that a person
wearing blinkers would be a cool metaphor for this message. If you look a bit closer you will
see that this character is holding a pair of scissors, trying to cut the blinkers and freeing himself
from his own narrow mind.
