So last week I got an awesome tee, and it was a bit of surprise for me for two reasons, firstly I wasn’t expecting it and secondly I am not a fan of Khaki and I absolutely adore this tee!

The Cyclery are an Etsy store which specialize in Bicycle themed tees but they have their own vintage twist on it. Obviously because they don’t have a website with a huge ‘About Us’ section I can’t tell you too much about them. However what I will say is that their designs are original, perfect for fans of cycling or vintage ads (with a modern twist) and the quality of the tees are second to none.

I have had my tee for about 10 days and it’s been washed twice (yes I like it that much!) and it’s still in perfect, pristine condition.

A lot of their designs can appeal to both sexes and this company definitely isn’t afraid of colour. My personal favourite designs from their selection is probably the Liberator one that I got sent and the Jester one shown below.

Even though their tees are all ‘Cycling’ themed I am pretty sure most people can find one that they enjoy for one reason or another! So please drop by their Etsy store or give them a follow on Twitter or like on FB.

Some pretty good reprints to chat on about this week, some which have been added to the ‘Dee Wishlist’ for sure! It’s pretty lengthy now.

Totally epic B Movie humour hear and colour and comedy that pops ‘Aliens Gave My Cat a Beard’ by Steven Rhodes, is hilarious and in my opinion this is an obvious choice for reprint.

I find the next design to be quite a feminine one but it has been reprinted for guys, sol by Diogo Hornburg and Lucas Alcantara shows two beautiful song birds resting on a treble clef. I love how realistic and stylized the clef is.

My boyfriend, who is a photographer, is all over this design and it’s kind of like two Threadless tees he already owns mashed up together! Sky Aperture by Tang Yau Hoong  is a really original design which it’s interesting but not in your face, and one where you see more detail the harder you look. Excellent Threadless tee!

This design is so funny, I am pretty sure I have blogged it before. Totally gutting that it has only been printed for guys though, I’d welcome this tee into my collection with open arms. Crayon Role Reversal No.147 by Nick Roberts would be the perfect gift for a slightly comedic and artistic friend!

Lastly for this Thursday Threadless blog, Invention of Colour by Ben Hartnett shows very well drawn retro cartoon characters in Black and White with a test tube of colour. Excellent concept, excellent execution!

Not many new tees from Threadless this week but there are some pretty awesome ones, especially those pictures above!

Firstly this week because I adore the colour combination, the black with the ligt coloured print is so powerful. I also really like the design of ElectriciTree by Budi Satria Kwan, I especially think it works on the girly boat neck tee.

This tee looks almost like a brass rubbing or something, I love the gold and the brown and it’s normally a colour combination that I would associate with robot or futuristic type tees. I love the design of I Met A Robot by Danny Burgess showing a teeny man meeting a gigantic robot under the night sky.

I’m sure I have bored you previously how much I love tees that show food with a face, there is nothing not to love about a tee with a smiley fried egg on! Sunny Side Up by Aaron Jay gets some serious cuteness points, I kinda wish it had been on a brighter tee though!

Lastly for the tees this week, as there were only 5 this week.  This tee is so eerie, I love a zombie tee as much as the next guy, this tee shows a zombie family and then in the reflection you can see how they were pre zombie. A Family Once by Jay Fleck is probably one of the most original designs I have see on Threadless in a long while! Well done Jay.

This tee arrived through the mail and was a complete and utter surprise for me, but massive Thank You to Dress Royale for this fantabulous tee because I think that my boyfriend looks particularly hot in it!

I really like the simplicity of these guys website, it is very monotone, and the designs are simply and powerful and sometimes sinister.  They don’t have a massive number of designs at the moment but I am sure that their collection of designs will only increase as the word spreads about their awesome quality tees.

Their tee (and 1 tank) range between $16-$18 in price which you can’t grumble at for a brand spanking new tee from an obscure company, you aren’t going to find these tees on the High St and none of your mates are likely to have one.

Another thing I like about this site is that they only have black designs but they have really nice colour of tees like the Heather coloured one that my Nicholas has on, they also have a Silver one and an Athletic Blue one.  I do like a site that isn’t afraid of a splash of colour.

The quality of the tees and print is super high too, this tee has been washed and worn twice and is just a perfect as it was when it landed on my doormat. One complaint I have is that their ‘Women’s’ tees don’t actually look like they have been made for women, I wouldn’t say they are a flattering fits for us boobed ones apart from maybe the tee called ‘Sleep’ because it has an unusual neckline.

I think this site is deffo worth a look and also there is a 50% off code : DressRoyale which works because I tried it.

Sleepy Dan hood sweaties released in December, I had to release one cut n sew project for the first year so you can be sure there will be some more customized designs for the upcoming years! I can not emphasize enough, process is the most important part of any project. The rugby style hoodie is a design just recently hitting trend so I had to make some comfortable enough to bear the Sleepy Dan brand! In my day job as an apparel designer, I have learned how to work with embroidery shops to create apparel patterns, but sometimes several of the finishing steps have to be done on your own to save on cost. That’s how I was able to make these hoodies so affordable.

Coming from the manufacturer, I had to make some custom modifications past adding the logo embroidery appliques and the new custom neck labels for outerwear… This hoodie has several exposed cover stitch seams, so you can easily see it’s custom made, but the excess seam fabric had to be trimmed up a little more to be finished.

After finishing, the logo embroidery appliques are hand stitched to the garment, then the size labels are machine stitched into the neck seam. What makes this hoodie so special is the herringbone cotton twill neck seam, rugby placket, and hood seam edge. The time invested to this project is longer than a t-shirt design, but the fan and blogger reviews of the hood sweatie are amazing for the first cut n sew design. Research and development are a key role in the process of a successful project, so don’t overlook your process at any stage! Hope you got one before they sold out…

We could all do a bit more for charity, it’s even better when you can do your bit whilst also receiving a massively amazing tee which with not only look great but can be a conversation stimulator and you can convince other folks to grab a tee and support charities too! I would imagine word of mouth is something that works so amazingly well for www.sevenly.org.

Basically this site releases a different tee each week each supporting a different cause, the one I received (pictures above and below) was supporting a charity called ‘Living Water International’ which is dedicated to helping villages in developing countries in developing countries gain access to clean water.

This weeks charity is ‘Clothes4Souls‘ helps recycling be ensuring gently worn clothing is reused and give to people less fortunate.  The types of charities supports are slavery, water, hunger, aid, poverty, medical & disaster.

One thing I love about this site (which I am surprised about) is that most of the designs are all pretty similar just altering the text slightly or the colours slightly but essentially a lot of the designs have a similar format. They are not super brightly coloured and most convey the message in an obvious way without blasting it in the audience’s face.

The fit of the ladies V-neck is by far the nicest V-neck tee I have ever had in my life, it is the most flattering and comfy tee and the V is low enough that it shows off my chest without being so low that you can see my bra! Perfection. Next time I see a charity story on this site strike a chord in my heart I will be happy to purchase another V neck tee from Sevenly!

The website is contemporary, the product images are perfect, you can see how much was donated from each tee that has been released in the past, this website is just utterly fantastic and you should bookmark it, ‘Like them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter but find some time to swing by and see the amazing work that they do and bag yourself a high quality and heart warming tee.

Too Late to Dye Young tees are More T Vicars own range of tees which you can buy from their site. I think it would be fair to say that their range is ‘crowd pleasing’ and appeal to lots of  the younger generation but they also cater for older people with their retro designs as you can see with my awesome  leprechaun green Thunderbirds tee!

I can vouch for MoreTVicar as I have used them before many moons ago when my children were small I used this site to purchase No Added Sugar tees for my children as they were really ‘trendy’ at the time. I always received a very high level of customer service and quick delivery. Their website is silky smooth and attractive to use.

Not only do I have the I <3 Nerds, I also have their (mutters under breath) Justin Bieber t-shirt, which I have washed a few times and it’s still in excellent condition. I’d say the fit is pretty much as standard as you get.

I would highly recommend having a nosey through all of their designs, it’s a spectacular rainbow of colours and all sort of designs, some of which will take you for a jaunt down memory lane, all sorts, Andy Pandy, Rhoobard and Custard, Basil Brush, Mr Benn! Excellent!

These tees arrived yesterday, a complete surprise I hadn’t be expecting them honestly they are of my favourite tees I have seen during my time blogging at Hide Your Arms, which is quite odd really because they are black and white and generally I am all about the colour. Amazing attention to detail all wrapped in brown paper with string, totally adding to their rustic feel.

Beneath Reject are an awesome Oz based company launched last year by Georgie Hartigan who uses her t-shirt designs to express herself artistically, planning to release a new line every 3 months with a limit of 100 per design, you’re basically getting a very limited edition art piece for your (I’m guessing Australian dollars) $32.

These are guy fit shirts but they have some model pics on their website which show excellent ways of girling it up, I actually stole their feminising ideas when I shot their t-shirts. I am wearing a design called ‘Touch‘ which looks almost like a very creepy dragon hand illustration from a child’s book.

The designs remind my boyfriend of glasgow artist David Shrigley, I felt a bit of Edward Monkton, it’s definitely the nice clean but at times comedic collection of designs. My favourite item on the site is their super cool ‘Forget’ tank which which you should have a look at.

My boyfriend got the tee that he liked best on the site anyway and this is ‘Fear’ it looks so great on him, the design is slimming, he said he feels that the ink seems stiff but I am positive that it will soften after being washed, I think it is to be expected from a brand new tee with a massive block of black on it.

The tees from Beneath Rejection are of the highest quality and the designs are so original they rock my world, you should definitely stop by their site and at the very least drop them a ‘like’ on Facebook! I’m finding myself for the first time very excited about what their new designs are going to be like, surely that is the best you can expect from a t-shirt company!

I have to admit I have had this t-shirt since before Christmas but just haven’t got round to blogging it, so firstly sorry to TeeBlitz.com for being shockingly slow however I only have lovely things to say about you so hopefully that will make up for it.

TeeBlitz seem largely about trying to get exposure for a wide range of artists from comic artists, game designers, toy designers, all sorts basically, this means they have lots of different styles of designs hitting their site. If you have a nosey at they gallery you can see what I believe to be past designs.

The tee I got sent from these chaps is called ‘The Passenger’,  I got this in red but if you pop to the site now this tee is still available for 11 hours, as they are only available for a certain amount of time, this is fab as it makes them more ‘limited edition’ and you know there are going to be very few people in the world with the same tee.

As far as the quality of the tee goes I adore the quality, I adore the fit, I adore the design! This is a tee that I shall be wearing time and time again. It has a very transformery feel to it and as a geeka-chica it totally fits in with other t-shirts I own.

One teeny negative point, the tee I received had accidentally got a permanent marker dot on the sleeve this may of simply happened during the packing process but I thought it was worth mentioning.

The tees on TeeBlitz are fabulously original, super high quality and a very nice fit. Again running true to size. I would definitely recommend grabbing The Passenger for $10, it’s an absolute steal.

(Must apologise for simply using my bedroom to take pictures, they do show off the tee pretty well though)

So I have a couple of t-shirt reviews for you. Going to do the first one about Cake Star. Two tees arrived from these lovely guys for me to review and take pictures of.

Firstly their site is very cool, it appeals to all sorts of people. They have very cute cartoons on their ‘About Us’ page which somehow manage to tell you everything and nothing all at the same time. Their website is very easy to navigate, very clean and uncomplicated and anything that leads to making buying tees easier is alright by me.

I got sent one tee for me and one tee for my fella. My boyfriend got the ‘Panacea’ design (of which there are only 5 left so if you like it you’d better shop swift). His tee fits him really well, and the design is one that stands out for me on their website. I’m by no means a prude but they have quite a lot of designs involving ladies in a state of undress, if I see them on guys I assume they are single, desperate and slightly perverted and I wouldn’t be keen on my boyfriend walking around with another guys bum on his belly. By the same token I don’t want him to get a t-shirt with my bum on. I feel these designs are appealing to a very small corner of the market, however the non T&A designs I like very much.

For little me, I got sent ‘Flight’ which is a really lovely whimsical design, I love the deep green colour. These are definitely guy fit tees and I don’t think that this t-shirt was flattering for me. However I noticed in the Cake Star blog there were lots of cute petite modelly types in their tees and they totally rocked them and looked hot. So maybe this is simply to do with my body shape. It’s a cute tee and I will be wearing it again for sure. I’d say the tees are true to size, the small was good on me and the medium was good for my boyfriend, as standard for us.

I have washed Nick’s t-shirt and the print and t-shirt were both still perfect and pristine as it was when it arrived in the mail. On the website they have hoodies and other bits and bobs coming soon, so it’s worth keeping your eye on what they’re going to come up with. They also have the beginnings of a reward scheme which is always good fun.

To sum up, Cake Star is a company bringing delightful and raunchy tees to your collection. Friendly and crazy company who bring fantastic quality t-shirts at reasonable prices. I’d recommend at the very least dipping your toe in to what they do.
