Damn, that was long title!
I’m currently wading through the quagmire that I call a ‘migraine hangover’, the day after a bad migraine where you feel like you’ve got a hangover but didn’t get to have all the drinking fun, so I’m going to hand the typing duties over to whoever it is that writes AITAs press releases.
The new Spring/Summer 2008 line from Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction highlights seven new artists creating original designs. One of these bright artists is Thom Lessner who designed the David Lee Nagel parody tee.
The very talented Mr. Lessner brings bipolar hero worship alive in this tribute to both Patrick Nagel and Diamond Dave in the David Lee Nagel tee. The tee is available for both men and women and includes the 80’s, 90’s and the naughty auties all in one!
Thom Lessner originated from Ohio and is now living and playing in Philadelphia. Thom’s parodied cartoon renditions of pop culture figures have become his signature style and his works have traveled through Philadelphia’s SPECTOR gallery, Los Angeles, New York, and abroad. Currently, Thom is an ardent skateboarder and a rock n’ roll star in the costume-clad band Sweatheart.
To be completely honest, I don’t think that the David Lee Nagel tee is the best of the bunch in terms of the latest releases from AITA, but they seem to be really excited about it so I might be missing something, but I guess its hardly a surprise that my favourite has gold foil on it.

Owl Movement released their seventh range about a week ago and I somehow managed to miss it despite receiving a couple of e-mails about the collection, so my apologies about that. Its a solid range of four new pieces, with some recognisable names doing the design work, none of which have produced designs for OM in the past, hurrah for keeping it fresh!Owl Movement
Seibei: New Stuff in store

David has put up a few new items and colourways into the Seibei store… rejoice!
The first thing to get refreshed is the Ice Wizard hoodie (which I first reviewed back in March last year) which is now available in a ‘Red Baron‘ colourway of red/white, and a there is also the ‘Blockhead edition‘ for those of you that have a yearning to look like a bumblebee. The new hoodies have drawstrings that match the vinyl trim colours too, which is cool because I know that there had been a problem with sourcing decent coloured drawstrings in the past.
“I like to say stuff and eat things” has been completely reworked and looks awesome, I really love the gradient print and putting it on a striped tee is a bold move, but I think it works pretty well.
I can’t remember if ‘Superpredators’ is new or not, it might be the case that it has just been a work-in-progress for such a long time that I just presumed it had made its way into the store at some point. Either way, its a massive dinosaur on a t-shirt, and that can’t be a bad thing. [available in Mint or Pink]
Last but not least, there’s Fierce, which involves a three-headed dog wearing a gold chain, about to eat some diamonds… naturally.
So, I write about robot tees months ago and all of a sudden everyone is selling them. I’m not saying that I’m a barometer of style, but… okay, that’s exactly what I’m saying, I can’t wait to see what design trend I cause next!*
Ten Bills are back (even though they barely went away) with their fifth series, title Robot Rebellion, and its a really strong set of releases. What I like about Ten Bills is that they don’t necessarily stick to one certain style set, which I guess is fairly natural since they have a few artists, but it is still pretty easy for brands like Ten Bills falling into a safe routine of releasing tees that look similar in style, so I applaud them for avoiding that. My personal fave from this bunch? Blazin’ Glory on Forest Green by Bobby Liquori (4th from the left in the above pic).

Okay, at the time of writing this posting, there’s no mention of the new line on the Methods NYC site, but hopefully when this post goes live at 4AM GMT when I’m tucked up in bed dreaming about wonderful t-shirts and hoodies, it will all be on there for you to get your e-grubby, e-hands on. Hopefully. If not, the totally awesome image above has surely whetted your appetite to check the site out when the new line does become available.
