austin_ladder-444x640 Akomplices Summer Collection

After last week’s teaser, here’s a closer look:

THE LIFE COLLECTION from Akomplice really holds true to it’s title. The Summer range has pieces for all walks of life; from the Jaquard Sweater to the Flip Shorts, mixing a prestigious cut with a relaxed style. The tees are just as worldly. With a collaboration between Akomplice and Hope (www.hopeartists.org), 30% of all “Realer World T-Shirt” profits are given to impoverished communities in Africa. Akomplice also pays Homage to the lighter side of life by teaming up with the German based brand “Wemoto”. Together they produced “Bad Times”, a tee poking fun at most people’s outlook on the bad economy. The Life collection consists of: sweaters, shorts, polos, New Era hats, tee-shirts, and a skateboard deck. This is one of Akomplice’s most well rounded collections to date. Be on the look out for this new collection in your local Boutique or online at the Akomplice webstore.

I’ve put a fair chunk of the collection in the gallery below, but the pics don’t really show the items particularly well, so if you actually want to see the designs properly, head on over to the Akomplice site, or this page if you want to see everything without clicking around.

il_430xn58953013 Collective Names for Animals by Xenotees

I thought it might be fun to check out what Philadelphians on Etsy were producing, and I found this really cool pullover which has loads of the weird collective terms for animals, including the best band name ever “Murder of Crows” and the hilarious “business of ferrets.” You can’t make out the text in any of the pics, but this is the kind of clothing that I think I’d find fascinating, though it does basically give a guy a reason to look at a ladies chest, so (”sleuth of..”) bear that in mind women of Philadelphia. Not that you wouldn’t be wearing a coat in the city anyway, it was so cold I thought my ears were going to snap off on Monday when I was crossing Broad Street.

Dreamy Cloud Sweater at Fred Flare

4635_d Dreamy Cloud Sweater at Fred Flare

I thought I’d better point out that clouds don’t have to be sad all the time, and this lovely sweater seemed to be a pretty good opportunity to show that. You know what would be cool, if someone did the same thing, but instead of normal clouds, they made clouds that looked kinda like real things, like that game you play in the summer when you’ve got nothing better to do than lie on the grass (get a job, hippie!).

keep_smiling_swe_49790dd79c45f Le Sucres new sweater is exclusive to Roktic

Roktic pointed out this new sweater from Le Sucre that is being sold exclusively in their store, and whilst I was under the impression that people were start to move away from the nu-rave text on a somber background, I actually quite like the 80s charm of this sweater and its meaningless text.

dpmnew01-480x270 Dance Party Massacre are a bunch of teases

I try not to do preview posts because I usually end up forgetting to tell you about the products when they’re actually released, which makes the whole exercise rather pointless, but since two of these previews are old designs given a fresh makeover, and just one is unavailable in any incarnation, I thought you might want to check them out.

All three will be available at the end of the month from Dance Party Massacre.

helveticaneuesweatshirt_20 Helvetica Neue Descending Sweatshirt from Typography Shop

To be completely honest, I prefer the t-shirt version of this design to the fleece sweatshirt, the print feels a bit small for a sweatshirt, which is a garment I usually associate with a larger print. Still, its pretty rare that I get to post a sweashirt (clearly they’ve fallen out of favour with a lot of designers), and the price is certainly very attractive.

Costiness=$24.99 ($29.99 after the end of the month) Buy it at the Typography Shop

akomplice2-480x311 Akomplices new line is accomplished!

Akomplice are a great example of a brand that know what taking photos is all about. They’ve got the cool lifestyle lookbook photo’s like the one above (and in the gallery), and then they’ve got standard photos of the individual items (also in the gallery) so that you can get a proper look at what you’re buying. It’s a good lesson for smaller brands to learn, if people can’t see what they’re going to buy, they aren’t going to buy it, so it’s important to learn how to take good photos of the clothes that designers have spent so much time working on. Also, nice pictures of clothes make HYA look better, which makes me more likely to post about those items, and I presume it’s a similar story with other bloggers and website owners.

This release is Akomplice’s 9th collection, and whilst I can’t really nail it down in terms of one style (it happily bounds across a number of styles), it seems pretty damn solid, lots of great pieces to cover you from head to toe, ensuring that there should be something for everyone to like in this collection… probably.

Say Hello to Define Breed

big_cartel_banner_2-480x120 Say Hello to Define Breed

I don’t really know what to say about this range of sewatshirts from Define Breed, I quite like them, but I have utterly no clue why.

It’s very unusual to see that Define Breed have made a range which only has sweatshirts in it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

bfsale1-413x640 Loyal To Your Soul, dedicated to savings!

I hadn’t heard of Loyal To Your Soul before, and I’m not that interested in about half of the designs (there’s some that are well worth your attention though, like this Eagle one, peep the gallery), but when every tee is $8 you can’t help but take a look.

Say Hello To Nonoloa

2981139273_4d8566bcc8_o-480x420 Say Hello To Nonoloa

This Madrid-based clothing label have sat in my inbox for too long, which clearly does them a disservice, because after you’ve checked out the gallery I’m sure you’ll agree that they’ve got some pretty good designs, not a huge range, but their wheat/chaff ratio is certainly very healthy. As usual, if anyone fancies having a crack at translating the Japanese on their sweaters (shown in the gallery) then I would very much appreciate it.

Their (flash-based) website is really cool too, and it’s pretty rare that I’ll say that about a flash site!

Nonoloa (sorry about the misspelling before)
