Organized Food Fight by Glennz

Glennz continues his fine run of form with another top notch design. I wonder why he didn’t add faces into the mascots? I know you can’t usually see the face anyway with mascots, but it seems to leave a darkened circle on each character.Costiness=$19.95 Link (also available as a poster for $12.95)

Love in Darkness by wayoner for La Fraise

When I first saw this tee I was all like “sweet, negative space!” I later realised that it wasn’t negative space at all, but still a really cool tee that reminds me of ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ a bit, which is usually a good thing when it comes to design style. Printed on an American Apparel blank for both men and women.

Miss World t-shirt

Its a bit of a pity that the product picture of this tee actually shows the packaging, lovely though it is, rather than the t-shirt itself. I think, think, that the tee is meant to look like a glittery winners sash from the Miss World competition. I like the theory, I like the execution, I like the fact it comes in one size fits all (fits all Miss Worlds, presumably) and I like the blurb, which is actually an odd bio for one of the designers (Ivan Duval):

1967 NOT MY CHOICE, BUT FRANCE IS A GOOD PLACE TO BE BORN. ONLY CHILD.
1968-85 ?
1986 ADVERTISING SCHOOL.
1988 WORKS IN SMALL ADVERTISING AGENCY.
1988 MEETS JEAN SÉBASTIEN.
1989 FIRST COLLABORATION WITH JEAN SÉBASTIEN, MAKES OBJECTS WITH PLANE PARTS.
1989 FIREMAN FOR 1 YEAR
1990 SPENDS 3 MONTHS IN NEW YORK, DOING EVERYTHING AND NOTHING.
1990 WORKS IN ANOTHER SMALL ADVERTISING AGENCY.
1991 MEETS LOVE.
1990 WORKS IN ANOTHER SMALL ADVERTISING AGENCY.
1992 WORKS IN BIG ADVERTISING AGENCY. FINALLY.
1997 FIRST AND LAST EXHIBITION AS A PAINTER.
1999 QUITS ADVERTISING.
1999 STARTS ATYPYK.
1999 DAD FOR THE FIRST TIME. TWO LITTLE BOYS (TWINS).
2003 LOOKING FOR A NEW PLACE TO LIVE WITH MY FAMILY. PARIS DISTRICT 10.
2004 FINALLY FOUND THE NICEST FLAT IN THE WORLD.
2005 ATYPYK TAKES OVER THE US
2007 LOOKING AGAIN FOR A NEW PLACE TO LIVE WITH MY FAMILY. PARIS DISTRICT 10. ANYONE ?

Odd, but its a bit more interesting than most bios you read. No word on price, but you can make an enquiry at the link if you would like to buy one.

*Ivan got in touch to say thanks for the post, and also sent over a picture of the tee being worn, it certainly looks better on a blonde model than in a plastic wrapper!

Tees with a positive message have usually seemed a bit lame to me, but this one from Print Liberation has forced me to re-evaluate my position on t-shirts that. I guess it isn’t actually a positive message, its more of a lemons/lemonade kinda deal, but still. I really like the way that they’ve thrown the type all over the tee, and put the arrows some of the letters to reinforce the message of how different decisions can change your life.Costiness=$22 Link

heart-shirt.jpg

When you look at the designs that Akumu Ink puts out, you’d think that they were a pretty dark and brooding bunch, and yet in their e-mails they’re really nice, they even use smiley emoticons!

skull-shirt.jpg

AI have dropped two new designs, one featuring broken hearts and one featuring skulls, ahhhh, classic emo design fodder. I really like the placement of the heart design, the way that they rise up from the bottom of the tee, almost as if the wearer was being swallowed up by a sea of misery (umm, I might be reading too much into it). The skull design is a bit hardcore for me, seeing as I’m not a fan of impaling heads on spikes, but I can imagine a lot of people liking it. Both tees are available in mens and womens sizes, printed on American Apparel blanks.

mustard_no3.jpg fancy_mustachio2.jpg peoples_condiment1.jpg

The FB crew have gone condiment crazy in their latest release of three designs, and also got in on the latest tee meme of putting mustaches in places where they wouldn’t usually be found (apparently they’ve been putting mustaches on bears for ages). I take exception to their anti-mustard stance though, as I have only really come to love the yellow stuff over the past few months (its revolutionised my breakfast pastrami bagel!), but other than that I’m pretty darned impressed with these designs. I really like how they’re pushing themselves by using ‘fuzzy suede ink’ and metallic ink on the bear design tee, you all know I love it when people use different printing methods and whilst I’m always a fan of metallic ink, I’m particularly impressed by the fuzzy suede being used because it makes sense and fits with the design rather than just because they could.

The three tees are on preorder now for $20 rather than the usual $24 until June 1st, and the tees will ship on June 16th. If that’s a bit much for you, how does 15% off sound? Good, right? Well, just input the coupon code HYA into the appropriate box at the bottom of the first page of the checkout and press ‘recalculate’ and the discount will be applied. You might not actually have to press recalculate, but that was how I checked it so maybe that’s how you should do it too. Oh, and this code works on any shirts in their shop, not just the pre-order ones.

Fantastic Bonanza

According to FB Joe:

Several of the fantastic t-shirts at Design by Humans are on sale for only $12! They’re trying to clear out some designs that they’re never going to reprint, so this will be your last chance ever to get them!

Combine this with the cheaper shipping options (or did that just about to non-US orders?) and we’ve got a bargain on our hands! The cheap tees are on the front page of designbyhumans.com under the title ‘Clothes Out’.

It’s been an incredibly long time since we last took a look at Lenko, and thankfully they’re packing a catalogue filled with cool, if slightly bizarre designs. Unfortunately their pics are a bit small so its pretty hard to make out the details, but I think we can get the gist of it.

The text reads “Have you noticed the squirrels are stocking up on canned goods?” I haven’t, around more area I have spotted a lot more of the damned grey squirrels and a lot less of the native red squirrels, but that’s probably beside the point… probably.

Atlantis green t-shirt by Pagan for laFraise

I wouldn’t usually mention a t-shirt that has sold out (especially as the last post was something that didn’t have a ‘buy’ link), but I spotted this on in my bookmarks and I’m really annoyed that I didn’t mention it to you before. In my defence, on the French blog post about it (yep, I even subscribe to the blog I can barely read) a couple of months ago they didn’t provide a link to the sale page, so I guess I was probably waiting for a shop link to come up before posting it, and then just forgot entirely. Hopefully something that looks this good will get reprinted at some point, and I think that the print might actually glow in the dark, which I can only imagine would be utterly incredible.Costiness=€11 (if it were in stock) Atlantis by Pagan for LaFraise

Go Ape really know how to get ‘names’, don’t they?

I assume that YASLY is well known to most people in design circles, since if I know who he is, then its safe to presume that he’s pretty well known. I guess that him being a ‘name’ shouldn’t be an issue, if a tees good, its good, if a tees bad, its bad, it doesn’t matter who the designer is, although I guess famous artists are more likely to make good tees on a regular basis… I don’t know where I’m going with this… this is a cool tee though.
