It’s funny, I’ve made it pretty clear that I really dislike cereal box designs, but I rather like comic book cover designs even though they share a lot of the same elements, especially when they’re based on an actual comic book. It’s probably because the artwork made for a cover is meant to have an immediate impact and tell the story without needing any explanation, so it works well for a shirt. I like the way that 80sTees have captioned this picture as well, “Meet Chad. He is 5′ 7″ tall and weighs 182 pounds. He is wearing size Large.” It seems a little silly but that’s actually great information for people trying to make a best guess on how a shirt is going to fit them, it would be great to see more people giving this kind of info with their product photos.

Good to see that 80sTees have used the original Optimus Prime for this tee rather than the (also badass) Optimus that is in the movies.

For once I wish that the audience got a bit more hand holding with this design and it actually had text at the top that read “The Emotions of Ron Swanson.” It’s fairly obvious that’s the subject of the design, but I feel that the text would give it a more authoritative quality that would suit the joke. Also, it’s nice that 80sTees have licensed designs, but that Parks & Rec logo is just not needed.

I really, really like the idea behind this design at 80sTees, but there’s something about the way they’ve kept it being the same shape as the real periodic table of elements that makes it look a little awkward from a t-shirt design point of view.

I know that National Lampoon’s movies are held dear to the hearts of American’s, much more so than those of us in the UK, but you guys know I’m a sucker for tees that treat fictional things as if they were real, so I just had to post this “Walley World” t-shirt from 80sTees. Oh, adn FYI, Walley World is a real place.

Looks like 80sTees have had a redesign of their site to be a bit more modern as the old version was looking a bit early-2000s.
This 8-bit design is fairly simple, but it works and it appeals to the part of me that doesn’t get to play videogames enough.

You’ve got to hand it to 80sTees, they aren’t just a novelty, nostalgia-inducing funny tee company, they actually work hard with their licenses to offer something different, and a hockey jersey dedicated to one of the most famous robots of all time is certainly different.
This is on pre-order and will ship in mid-March, but if you order now you will be saving $30 on the release price.

Did anyone else feel like they were practically invincible when they were in the Tanooki suit. Me and Mario could achieve anything!

It’s when I see shirts like this that I realise even though I like arty shirts and stuff that has had a lot of thought put into it by a designer I am still a bit of a sucker for a pop culture mashup, which is probably why I keep such a close eye on 80sTees.

Really nice 8-bit Community t-shirt from 80sTees, I think that Troy is my favourite character recreation here.

Like I say in the title, these Star Wars hoodies are definitely fun, but I just can’t imagina actually seeing people out on the street wearing them, they just look a bit too silly to me. Still, my “different strokes for different folks” rule applies, and 80sTees have been doing this for long enough that they know what sells, so I’m sure that you’ll be seeing loads of kids dressing like Chewie, R2-D2 and Darth soon enough.

Fair play to 80sTees, they went all out with this Optimus Prime hoodie, there’s not a chance in hell that I’d wear it outside of the house, but I still think it’s amazing.

I was watching Spinal Tap with friends a few months ago and couldn’t help but notice that there were an awful lot of t-shirts on show, and since I had so much fun with the Scott Pilgrim t-shirt list I thought I’d give this one a go. It’s hardly surprising considering that tees are the classic rock n’ roll wardrobe staple, but it’s still fun to see interesting tees being worn by characters in a movie, especially when I imagine that quite a lot of them were created specifically for the movie itself.
In spite of the popularity of the film then and now, there are surprisingly few companies out there which have taken the plunge and recreated shirts from the movie, with most seemingly happy to put “it goes to 11″ on a tee and leave it at that. It’s disappointing, but maybe if this post does well some enterprising freelance designers will put their efforts onto a print-on-demand site like Cafepress, Zazzle, or RedBubble so you can snap them up before they get DMCA takedown requests. If they make them, I’ll post them here, but for now we’ll have to make do with merely enjoying looking at the great t-shirts featured in Spinal Tap. Please note that I was taking screen grabs from the DVD version of the film since I don’t know anyone with the Blu-Ray version, but if this post gets enough attention I will happily order a copy of the Blu-Ray so that we can have some extra detail for the images. Also, I would never claim to be a Spinal Tap authority, I’ve seen the film a few times and really like it, but if I make any errors in this post just let me know and I’ll fix it right up.

As a man who likes sausage, and a man who likes Seinfeld, it was pretty much guaranteed that I’d be posting this shirt from 80sTees.

I finally saw the episode where Ron’s favourite steak house had been shut down and he wanted all the bacon & eggs (all the bacon and eggs), so when I saw this shirt at 80sTees I have to mention it.

80sTees have a few different superhero themed polo shirts available, but I felt that this Captain America version worked really nicely with it’s iconic embroidered shield. If I owned a comic book shop all my employees would be wearing these.
