magritte pipe t-shirt

Quite proud of myself for knowing that this shirt is a play on the famous Magritte pipe piece. Sure, I Googled it to save my blushes in case I was wrong, but I was right in the first place.

Pick it up for €23 at laFraise.

god save the queen t-shirt

I must have bookmarked dozens of tutorials for building a hackintosh over the last few years, but something tells me that trying to build a Mac from scratch might be slightly above my skill level.

god save the queen t-shirt

You know that the world is filled with nerds when a t-shirt that uses a keystroke combination to make it interesting actually looks really cool.

Post image for Overcompensating introduces the tShirt (iPad parody)

I don’t read that many webcomics, but I am a big fan of Overcompensating, and yesterday’s strip is one of the reasons why. I’d recommend clicking through to OC so that you don’t strain your eyes.

109 I love NY style t-shirts for you to love

by Andy on December 14, 2009

After the success and popularity of my previous list posts such at the 202 Star Wars t-shirts and robot lists (and of course the ridiculously meta list of t-shirt lists), I started saving up links of tees that fit into various categories, but there’s no point me just saving them up indefinitely, so it’s about time I started posting all these lists, most of them don’t quite breach the lofty barrier of more than 100 items in a list, but as they say, it’s not the size, it’s the amount of time Andy spent thinking up the metaphor.

As fasr as t-shirts go, few are more iconic than the design Milton Glaser created to help promote New York (the state, not just the city) back in the 70s. That design has gone on to be used in hundreds of different ways and become part of American pop culture, so it’s hardly surprising that the style has found it’s way onto more than a few t-shirts.

As ever with my list posts, THEY ARE NOT IN ANY RANKED ORDER, the numbers are merely there to keep track of the amount of tees in the list. I say this every time and no one seems to listen, it’s as if you skip the intro and move straight on to all the tees! Also, there are some affiliate linked shirts in there, so it’s possible I will earn money from people buying certain t-shirts on this list, but as I’ve listed just about as many as I could find, it’s hardly surprising that some of the companies have affiliate programmes. Some of the tees in the list are sold out already, and depending upon the success of this post some of them could become sold out in the future, but they could also be reprinted, so in many ways these tees are like Schroedinger’s cat before you click on the link. The list has been split into two pages to make things a little bit easier on my server, but please click through to the second page, because some of my favourites are on there and I think the list finishes pretty strongly, so they’re all worth checking out.

As ever, any exposure you can give to the list (stumble, tweet, delicious bookmark, blog post, digg, ill-considered full-back tattoo) will be greatly appreciated, and I’ll write up a thank you post with links back to everyone that helped in a couple of weeks. Now let’s go love some t-shirts!

Exploded Hoodies & Polos

by Andy on October 18, 2009

That title just gave me a great idea for a video… now I just need to work out how to blow hoodies and I’ll be a millionaire (an internet millionaire, not an actual millionaire).

The popular Exploded series has expanded from tees to putting a couple of designs on hoodies and polos. I’d like to see the DaVinci style hoodie have a much larger print, but it simply isn’t possible with the kangaroo pocket in the way, so there’s not much they could do about that, but the Exploded 128 design is much more accommodating of that size of print. Hoodies are $33 (+$7 shipping), polos $33 (+$5 shipping), and they will both start shipping on October 29th.

DeathGob -- Mac t-shirt_1253206613585

If this tee wasn’t so cool I wouldn’t have posted it just because the pictures are so small, yep, no matter how long I spend writing about tees, small pictures will always annoy me.

The Macintosh by Print Liberation

by Andy on September 18, 2009

macintosh t-shirt

So, we blew one up yesterday, and then the C-Dog (as no one calls him, probably) found a Macintosh that hadn’t been ripped apart. Back in the early 90s my family actually had a Mac, I forget the model, but I remember it being an exciting day when we upgraded the memory from 4mb to 8mb (or something like that), so I guess that even though I’m a Windows type fellow with the exception of my beloved iPhone and contemplating hackintosh-ing my new PC with Snow Leopard, I was into Macs before they were cool (were they ever not cool?).

The tee shows off Print Liberation’s typically restrained design style, which would probably look boring if it was small, but luckily they’ve made it nice ‘n big so it works.

Costiness=$18 Available from Print Liberation

P.S. Did anyone see Print Liberation’s 9/11 tee? I wouldn’t call myself a fan.

iSteamMac tee by Kevin Tong

by Andy on September 17, 2009 isteammac

I guess it was only a matter of time after Kevin Tong steamed a certain phone (that won’t be named for legal reasons) that he got his hands on the iconic Mac 128k and steamed the hell out of it.

Apples by Violent Elegance

by Andy on April 16, 2009

apple_green apple_red

I’ve gotten into the habit of taking an apple to work with me most days as an ‘emergency’ if I end up not being able to leave for lunch (which is usually my own fault for not being able to say ‘no’ when people ask me to do tasks), but I seem to always end up eating it by about 11:30 anyway, so maybe I’m going to have to start taking a second ‘emergency’ apple. Man, planning for my own lack of willpower and need to label things to make them sound exciting is tough.

Costiness=€29 (free worldwide shipping) Buy the apples tees that I didn’t mention once in this post at Violent Elegance

It might just be me, but it feels as if podcasts have never quite taken off as much as they should. Anyone have any favourites that they think I/everyone will like?

Mac Ghosts by Gary Gao

by Andy on August 12, 2008

I got an e-mail a couple of days ago (from someone that isn’t Gary Gao) which just contained the URL to this t-shirt, I didn’t actually click through because I was just checking my e-mails on my iPhone and we don’t have 3G (or even Edge) around here so I just moved on to the next e-mail, when I revisited the link today I realised it was fate. The link led through to a t-shirt design by Gary Gao, and I’m actually wearing the Gary Gao’s Ghost Camera’s hoodie right now, so I felt pretty compelled to post this tee. I’m not just posting it because of that moment of serendipity, he’s a great designer and really knows what goes into a good tee.

Costiness=$15 Tee Link (I can’t actually find this linked anywhere else on the Karmasoup site, so I don’t know how the tipster found it)
