I like this artwork, but I haven’t seen enough of Breaking Bad to know whether this mashup actually makes any sense, can someone help me out in the comments? If the design is just based on the pun then it’s a little poor, since we’re seeing a Joker mashup, and from my limited understanding in Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston starts out with the drugs as a way to earn money for his family after he dies of cancer (I’ve literally only seen the first two episodes, and that was some time ago), which wouldn’t align with the Joker’s ideology of mayhem for it’s own sake. Still a cool design though!

I really, really like the idea behind this design at 80sTees, but there’s something about the way they’ve kept it being the same shape as the real periodic table of elements that makes it look a little awkward from a t-shirt design point of view.

Another quality pop culture design from Ian Leino, the two styles work really well together and all the little details are just right.

I wrote and scheduled a post about this image above wondering how on Earth someone had made this and not have put it on a POD site, and then after I read through more of the comments where I found on Reddit it turns out that it is on RedBubble already, so all is right with the world after all.

Mr Four Fingers T-shirts

I’m so used to reviewing and photographing other peoples t-shirts with a pretty quick turnaround but it takes us ages to do our own Mr Four Fingers t-shirts! HYA has reviewed Digisin before and it’s Digisin that  Mr Four Fingers has partnered up with to print our range of t-shirts.

There is another review on HYA of Digisins special edition packaging and there are  detail shots of hem tags if you are into that sorta thing but for now we are sharing our designs with some background info on the illustrations. [click to continue…]

why so serious joker t-shirt

I wouldn’t wear it, but I am very impressed with the artwork on that Joker shirt at laFraise this week.

goth city rogues batman t-shirt

Even though they’re in the midst of their biggest sale ever at BustedTees with just about every shirt being $12 or less they’re still releasing four new shirts. As you can probably tell from the title I’ve got the Gotham Rogues, Obama and Reynholm Industries shirts figured out, but that Frigid Flakes one has me confused, anyone feel like clearing it up for me?

Oh, and remember to use the coupon code SANDYCLAUS to make the saving.

batman t-shirt

So, The Dark Knight Rises has been out for just under 6 hours here in the UK, and that means that we are 6 hours into a very tense week of my life as I try to avoid spoilers and discussion about the film until July 28th when I get to the IMAX for the full experience. Frankly, I think I will fail, not because I am week but because I spend 8+ hours a day on the internet working and it’s hard for me to avoid any pop culture stuff. Hell, my entire knowledge of Doctor Who comes from t-shirts and I can just about pass as a fan now.

Lazy Oaf X Batman Bat Repeat T-Shirt

by Ricardo on July 18, 2012

Lazy Oaf decided to celebrate the forthcoming film The Dark Knight Rises by making a set of garments inspired by DC comics character Batman. I mean look at this Batman t-shirt, even Superman would want to wear one of these. Grab yourself this Lazy Oaf x Batman Bat Repeat collaboration t-shirt and let your Batman quest begin.

arch enemies batman t-shirt

Certainly a very timely release from Glennz, I’m awfully excited about the impending release of Dark Knight Rises, partly because I’ll be going to watch it on me and my girlfriend’s three year anniversary, and partly because the trailers (so many trailers!) make it look like an amazing film.

ecko batman t-shirts

To say that I’m excited about the release of the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman films is something of an understatement, so when I spotted this new series of Batman tees inspired by the original comic from streetwear goliath Marc Ecko I was definitely getting them posted at one point or another. Shirts are either $19.50 or $24, and are all available now.

Post image for The Dark Knight Rises contest winners at Design By Hümans

Design By Hümans recently held a contest to design a shirt themed around the new Batman movie: The Dark Knight Rises. I was kind of upset when I first heard about this, cause one of the things that really attracts me to DBH is their complete lack of pop culture designs. But when they announced the 3rd place winner today, I was pleasantly surprised. “Arise” by SilentOp incorporates the Batman theme in an awesome way. I may even have to buy this one! Congrats to SilentOp on his third place win in the contest and coincidentally his third print at Design By Hümans. The Top three winners (first and second will be announced on Thursday and Friday) were chosen by Christopher Nolan – Director/Writer/Producer for The Dark Knight Rises and Emma Thomas – Producer.

metroid t-shirt teefury

Sorry about the level of disruption to the site at the moment, I’m acting as something of a nightwatchman on a building site for my other job, which does change my schedule around quite a lot as you’d imagine. The other bloggers will hopefully be picking up the slack and I see that Matt & Leah have already posted a couple of great articles.

Metroid gets some attention in the TeeFury shirt above.

Prune juice has never appealed to me, but apparently it appeals to Shirt.Woot.

Jet Set Scott Pilgrim at RIPT.

TDKR Competition heating up

by Mr Four Fingers on April 5, 2012

tdkr logo

Andy recently posted about Design By Humans hosting  a gargantuan t-shirt competition for the up and coming The Dark Knight Rises film and I can tell you one thing, it’s hotting up. Ok yes, I’m of course saying this as Mr Four Fingers has submitted, hey at least I’m being honest. But there many good designs and my hand has been forced to vote on a few others ( I  tried clicking on my own already). So far Studio8worx is slaying the rest of us with a massive 700 + votes.

What I really like about the competition is the variety, the good, that bad, wait, art is  subjective, but one thing I know for sure, the work should be your own. I make it my mission to look at all the designs try to comment with a at least some constructive criticism, but what pisses me off big time, is when folk plagiarize. Two things : Your an asshole for stealing work and your a total idiot for then posting the design as your own in a competition as big as this. I mean really.

I have moved into a new role. A police role. Craig from DBH contacted me via e-mail and asked about some comments I made about designs being ripped off, and so, like a decent fellow, I named and shamed.

So beware (cue evil laughter).

Rant aside, if any HYA readers fancy dropping a few votes/ comments for Mr Four Fingers and I daresay, the fellow artist on DBH, then follow this link for the front page designs (there are over 6 pages now) , alternatively you can check out Ascension or Almost. MFF website has larger images and process images of you are into that sort of thing.

Get in there with a design if you have not already and happy voting!(voting ends 22 April 2012)

dark knight rises competition

As far as t-shirt tie-ins with movies go it doesn’t really get much bigger than this. The Dark Knight Rises will likely be the biggest movie of the year (I doubt it will be better than the last Batman film, but I will gladly be proved wrong in July when it’s released), and Design By Humans have been tasked with finding official t-shirts for the movie. This is definitely something of a coup for DBH, especially as the final winners are going to be chosen by Christopher Nolan himself. Here’s a rundown of the prizes to be awarded to the top ten submissions:

1st Place: $3,500 plus 12 shirts of artist choice
2nd Place: $3,000 plus 12 shirts of artist choice
3rd Place: $2,500 plus 12 shirts of artist choice
4th Place: $2,000 plus 12 shirts of artist choice
5th Place: $1,500 plus 12 shirts of artist choice
6th – 10th Place: Option to sell artwork to DBH

Submissions are open now and will remain open until April 11th, the voting fun begins on April 22nd.

T-shirt news for February 14th

klimt star wars the kiss

Hello, hello, hello and happy Valentine’s Day! I had a great holiday (though my snowboarding inflicted bruises may say different), and then went to see Justice play in Manchester last night, but now it’s back to reality and back to the serious business of t-shirts (and camera accessories at Rigu, of course).

TeeFury have a Star Wars-ified take on Gustav Klimt’s ‘The Kiss’.

Shirt.Woot believe the pen is mightier than the sword (or possibly equal to it).

RIPT have a Game of Thrones t-shirt that looks cool that I don’t understand.

Daily T-shirt News Roundup for January 12th

by Andy on January 12, 2012

cthulu t-shirt

Am I the only person on the internet that doesn’t have an obsession with Cthulu? $10 at TeeFury.

Shirt.Woot are playing on the idea (I think) that Shakespeare didn’t write his own plays with this ‘Ghost Writer’ t-shirt.

There’s no pop culture reference in this RIPT design… I don’t know how to react, where’s the reference, WHERE’S THE REFERENCE!

OtherTees offer up a splattered Portal Companion Cube for the next few days.

And there’s your Doctor Who t-shirt for the day at Shirt Punch.

I’d like to see how this shirt at DBH prints, but I do love the artwork.

I don’t think this is the first time 24tee have posted a Big Lebowski tee, they must be fans.

Hey look, Loviu are selling that Joker design again.

Hey look, Tilteed are selling that weird shark fortress design again.

Made With Awesome are on until Jan. 15th, the sale isn’t on the site yet, but it will be at some point today.

Do you like talking about tees, then talk about tees at teetalk next Wednesday, January 18th at 8pm EST. I doubt I’ll be involved since it starts at 1am UK time, by which time I’ll likely be tucked up in bed. More details at their Facebook page, and here’s a link to the chatroom.

Free shipping at laFraise when you spend 60€ or more, no coupon code required. laFraise also recently hired a new strawberry, Katinka, who will be running the German-language blog, as well as handling less fascinating things like admin and SEO.

Light Design in Spain have a sale on for their musically inspired t-shirts.

Simply Tap is a mobile shopping app, if you buy a MoreTvicar t-shirt with it (and it’s your first Simply Tap purchase) you’ll get £10 cashback. They also have a number of tees on sale from £4.99, which is pretty damn cheap.

Smashing Magazine have a good roundup of free fonts you may want to add to your design arsenal.

Daily Tees & News for January 4th

kid icarus t-shirt

I question how many people are going to buy a t-shirt from TeeFury with an obscure Kid Icarus reference on it. That said, I’m sure people that do get it will be squealing with delight that this design exists.

I’m not going to make any friends with this, but I didn’t think that Bridesmaids was amazing. It was good, sure, but it wasn’t that good. Still a cool shirt from RIPT though.

Even though Dr. Seuss isn’t that big over here in the UK I can appreciate this shirt, very nice choice at Shirt.Woot today.

Shirt Punch drop an Edward Scissorhands design today.

TeeRaiders shirt for the day will look good to Portal fans.

OtherTees have a mashup of the Joker from The Dark Knight, and Transformers.

This shirt at TeeMinus24 takes a famed British poster from WW2 and puts a Battlestar Galactica twist on it.

Yes, that is a real QR code on this shirt at 24tee, but I’m not going to spoil what it says.

I really like today’s offering from DBH, sometimes I feel like their prints are a bit too big, but in this case it works really well.

Loviu remind us once again that Barbie is a Slut.

I know that this is an old shirt from Tilteed, but I can’t remember seeing it before, so it’s like it’s new!

Big ole’ sale on at Sin Star, they’re usually quite a premium brand so this is a good chance to pick up their stuff with a decent discount.

Camiseteria reprinted a couple of designs yesterday.

IAMTHETREND have a year in review post which is worth a look.

Wrongwroks have a top 10 of awesome things that happened to them last year.

Johnny Cupcakes has a cool video showing concept to completion on the Nickelodeon collaboration.

Choc Ice Clothing have got a sale going on at the moment with up to 30% off their goods, so that’s tees down to just less than a tenner.
