Revolution Australia

A brand hailing from Australia bringing a “revolutionary” idea to you on t-shirts.  I’m not sure about that whole revolutionary thing but these new tees from Revolution Australia are quite stylish in their own right.

Working the typography angle, Revolution Australia has produced some creatively cute designs.  This one above is called Surf Zoo and as Ric the owner/designer shared with us,

“One of the most popular sports in Australia is Surfing. There are so many beaches that many, MANY people practice this sport. You could say OZ is a SURF ZOO.”

I really enjoy when brands do typography tees and creatively incorporate designs into the lettering.  Something I’ve never been a pro at doing but I really do admire a brand who can come up with a good one.  This is a good one, considering I love surfing myself but my only problem is Ric shared that explanation with us at HYA but not in the product description on the website.  I mean the washing instructions are there which is well, interesting, in so many words but no good “story” with the tee.  Here’s a few more new ones from Revolution Australia.

Random Objects ring in the summer

by Chris_S on June 9, 2012

Post image for Random Objects ring in the summer

I’ve just spent a weekend in a caravan in Wales, and though it rained solidly for one day, the other two days were bright, sunny and almost Mediterranean. That can mean one thing: it’s summer time.

Of course, the weather can be unpredictable, so it’s much better to rely on Random Objects’s summer line release. We’ve written extensively in the past about this brand, and regular readers will know we’re a fan. Luckily the Summer ’12 releases (or rather, the first part as the press release we were sent teases) look to validify our good faith.

‘Be Polite’ (up top, $24) is a great example of a strong typographic tee. In a bright blue, the white text really stands out and it’s the little details such as the highlighting of the “and” which really separates this from the sort of thing you can pick up for ten bucks on Cafepress. It also preaches a good motto too: if I could, I’d be asking Random Objects very poliltely if they’d let me do a wear test on this design.

The other three designs are a little less strong to my eyes, but are nonetheless something which would fit well in any wardrobe. I’m not a fan of tank tops, but for those who are ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’ ($20) would be a great buy. It’s the sort of thing you’d wear in Instagrammed photos with the sun streaking across the sky behind you.

‘A Sailor’s Life’ ($24) looks like a shirt you’d buy in a high-end department store (which isn’t meant as a slight) and has an inspirational message; ‘Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’ ($24) is a smart play on the age-old turn of phrase which is equal parts cute and scary. Most importantly, I can imagine wearing all of them with some shorts while padding along the beach. Summer is here people! Enjoy it!

Whilst Avril (who very cleverly didn’t change her name to become Mrs. Whibley) was at the beach getting papped in her bikini, I was happier to see her in this cute hoodie (not much happier, mind you!). I know that putting ears onto clothing is a dangerous business, you are pretty much leaving yourself open for mockery, but she’s famous so she can do pretty much whatever she wants, I guess.

I’ve done a bit of sleuthing around and can’t find this hoodie or anything that looks similar to it, but Avril does seem to wear some fairly nice hoodies that look similar to this, so maybe she’s wearing the same brand a lot which might make my hunt easier.
