Boy Parker

I actually saw some of these designs at the Margin show back in February, and whilst some of them weren’t to my personal taste the quality level was impressive and there’s some really wearable designs in the collection. Here’s the blurb:

The Illustrated Mind is an independent t-shirt line based in Brighton, that seeks to showcase the best in up and coming illustration via the most fashionable means… We have been commissioning and releasing designs since 2011 and have worked with the likes of Jack Teagle, Joe Daly, Steve Seeley and Gordon Holden to name but a few. Our aim each season is to develop a cohesive collection of illustrated t-shirts styled around a loosely devised theme. So we seek out the best and most notorious artists to collaborate with and whose work has caught our eye and made us think they’re awesome, we hope you agree.

The tees are available from Brighton’s finest tee shop, Boy Parker, and are £26.50 a piece.

The Dudes Factory [Margin Reports]

by Mr Four Fingers on March 5, 2013

The Dudes Factory

A couple of years ago whilst visiting a friends house I noticed a cool hand drawn illustration print framed on her wall. It was a curious cartoon-esque drawing by French illustrator McBess. I was supremely happy to find out that clothing brand The Dudes Factory were being showcased at the Margin Trade show as the crux of their designs are created by the talented McBess. The Dudes Factory were at Margin with the support of Boy Parker, an independent t-shirt brand and also part distributer who brought this brand from Berlin to our cloudy shores.

The Dudes Factory are awesome. Yes, I’m trying to stop using that word but in this case the description is perfect. All the designs I saw at Margin were creations of Mcbess, including a printed plate and a beer mug with the words ‘piss’ written on the front but there are other artists that flourish under the umbrella of The Dudes Factory. Here are some of the other great illustrators : Ugo Gattoni, Genius Inc., Dave The Chimp, Network Awesome, Oblast, Fidia and Carolin Loebbert.

By chatting to the different brands at Margin we gleaned information about them in various ways. The levels of professionalism and the essence of their brand was best shown in their lookbook/catalogue. By this I mean the actual design, style and photography. The Dudes Factory simply nailed theirs with fantastic product and location photography. This should be a benchmark for brands to aspire to.

The Illustrated Mind at Margin London

by Margin London on January 23, 2013

The Illustrated Mind by Boy Parker at Margin London
There are many t-shirt brands out there, with new ones launching every week it seems, but not all can say they have their own focus group and testing ground. Boy Parker, the independent store in Brighton on the Sussex coast, can claim just that, as they’re able to get an instant reaction to any new design from the stream of on-trend students that frequent the seaside town.

Having perfectly honed their season’s collection, Boy Parker then unleash their brand The Illustrated Mind, which brings together the work of artists from diverse backgrounds, and offer it to other stores to carry safe in the knowledge the range contains the best selling designs.

Their quirky prints and unique illustrations add a well-received surrealism to their range and distinguishes The Illustrated Mind from many other brands.

The Illustrated Mind started in 2011 and has steadily built their range, their group of collaborating artists, and their stockists ever since.

The new season’s range will be on display to buyers and press exclusively at Margin, the London trade exhibition in February 2013. The Illustrated Mind first debuted their range at Margin back in February 2011 and are returning in February 2013 to unveil their latest designs.

Renowned amongst key buyers and press as the launchpad for new brands, Margin has been providing an affordable platform for new brands since 2002.

Boy Parker is an independent store in Brighton, Sussex, that specialises in tees from brands including Lazy Oaf, Threadless, Brandt, My Yard, Paper Root, DeadBuryDead, and many others.

For more info and a look around the store, watch the Boy Parker Shop Tour Video created by Margin.
