Post image for Miley Cyrus helps Rock the Vote in a confusing t-shirt

I think it’s pretty cool to see Miley Cyrus getting involved with the ‘Rock the Vote’ campaign, even if the majority of her fans probably won’t be able to vote until the next election cycle, however, I am a bit confused by her t-shirt. I know what it means, that they’re never going to back down from those known as ‘they’, but it doesn’t read particularly well, does it? Maybe if there wasn’t a strike-through on ‘back down’ and it had ‘never, never, never’ scrawled across the main text it would have worked a bit better?

Anyway, my quibbles aside, if she gets more young people interested in politics that can only be a good thing as far as I see it, and not just becuase young folks probably won’t vote for Mittens.

Post image for OMG Kristen Stewart wore Robert Pattinson’s T-shirt, quick, let’s analyse this!

It’s funny how whenever someone famous wears a t-shirt with a phrase on it the media always presumes there there is loads of meaning behind it, when maybe Kristen just wanted to wear that particular shirt, which makes no sense to me because it really doesn’t fit her. Oh, and after a quick Google I can’t find it on sale anywhere, probably because I just search for ‘IRIE t-shirt’ and got lots of excited blogs writing how KStew wearing this shirt was a big deal after RPats wore it in 2011. Time to whip out the old #societyisdoomed hastag.*

*Yes, I am a massive hypocrite, but at least I saved this for the weekend.

 miley cyrus see through t-shirt

What a sad states of affairs that it is that me posting a picture of Miley Cyrus in a see-through t-shirt (from her Twitter stream) has the ability to generate so much more interest in this website than a gorgeous t-shirt from an indie company, kinda makes you lose faith in the internet sometimes. Still, crazy hair lol!

This faux info-mercial has been doing the rounds on the tee blogs recently but it’s taken me until now to get around to watching it (I’m so busy blah blah blah). It’s a lot of fun (the Anna Faris bits are especially funny) and I’m always happy to see Mr. T gracing screens in any form. Being in the UK I doubt that I’ll ever be able to judge if it really is the best tee of all time, but who knows with HYAs ever expanding list of contributors.

T-shirt news for January 26th

by Andy on January 26, 2012

star wars argyle t-shirt

Very nice argyle Star Wars t-shirt today at TeeFury.

Seems to me like this is the kind of design that Shirt.Woot should have been selling in the run up to Christmas.

RIPT drop a Milton Glaser-inspired Doctor Who t-shirt.

Harry Potter Muggle Ale shirt at Qwertee.

Those troublesome Tribbles are at Shirt Punch today.

Skyrim is the inspiration for this Nowhere Bad shirt.

I have no idea what the inspiration is for this design at The Yetee.

Star Wars meets Firefly today at OtherTees (who have a snazzy new site).

TeeRaiders have a Doctor Who design as well.

24tee go for the niche with one of the stars of the (surprisingly enthralling) King of Kong coin-op games documentary.

DBH love owls. On that subject, I saw a man walking down the street with an owl yesterday. Owls are great.

Hey look, Tilteed are selling one of their lesser seen designs again.

I have no idea what the kanji (presuming it’s Japanese) on this shirt says, so buyer beware at TeeMinus24.

Tee Gazette have put together their 10 favourite tees from the Storenvy marketplace for January.

Sock Monkee have released their Ampertastic Mr. Fox design as a print.

Adam over at IAMTHETREND busts six commonly held myths about his employer Storenvy.

Wrongwroks have released a parka with a faux fur trim.

Threadless have made some tees available to be put on Xbox avatars, and they cost about $1 each, but here’s the real kicker, if you want a hoodie you have to pay $2. They’re pixels, just because it costs double in real life doesn’t mean that they should cost double on the Xbox marketplace!

Glennz has made some more designs available as hoodies.

Mashable have a guide to building a strong online community around your brand.

Everything is on sale at Myth Clothing.

This Rihanna ‘thug life’ tattoo picture has been doing the rounds, but it’s her John Lennon t-shirt that interests me the most.

Here’s Katy Perry wearing a pretty cool hoodie (and I suspect a cool skull-based all over print t-shirt too).

Buy one get one free (on tees, not hoodies) at Eleven Eleven.

Typography Shop have put all their hoodies on sale.

Sehubabe have released a hoodie and t-shirt for Transardentes 2012 (a Belgian electro rock festival).

TanDan have been added as a brand store at A Better Tomorrow.

T-shirt News for January 19th

breaking bad t-shirt

I realised that this TeeFury shirt was about Breaking Bad, but having only seen a couple of episodes the Los Pollos Hermanos aspect of this shirt is lost on me.

I think that this might be my favourite design that Shirt.Woot have released.

Goonies-inspired t-shirt from RIPT today.

“The Marvelous commute to Wonderland” is up at Qwertee.

It’s Back To The Future vs Bill and Ted at Shirt Punch today.

Here’s another 24tee shirt that goes over my head.

I know that Community isn’t for everyone, but the paintball episode was truly fantastic, so I’m glad to get the reminder from TeeRadiers.

Two new shirts from DBH today (including one that is fighting SOPA that will only be available for a couple more days).

BustedTees have some wrestling pandas for $13.99 instead of $20 this week.

Hey look, Tilteed are selling ‘The Eternal Struggle’ again.

This error greeted me when I visited TeeBlitz this morning.

Adam has some advice over at TeeJunction on creating a t-shirt brand.

Save up to 20% on your order at Wrongwroks, providing you spend quite a lot.

Raygun Robyn is aiming for global domination, and to do that she’s going to offer free shipping to the first person from countries that haven’t yet made an order in her store.

Johnny Cupcakes shares a little story of how he put a plastic skull into a random customer’s order for a hat to try and add some mystery and magic to the online shopping process. It might give other store owners ideas about how they can make their shopping experience more interesting.

Obscure Printing are going to start offering a complete fulfillment service for brands (printing, packing, shipping, and stock holding). They’re also collaborating with a company called Judda distribution which will make brands available to 3000+ stores across Europe, which could be a great opportunity for a lot of brands. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.

Mila Kunis wore a vintage-styled Pepsi t-shirt, super-duper!

T-shirt News Roundup for January 16th

by Andy on January 16, 2012

mythbusters t-shirt

Dexter’s Laboratory meets Mythbusters in this shirt from Teefury.

Y’know, I’ve never seen Donnie Darko, judging by the amount of shirts about it, including this one from Qwertee, I probably should (lots of shirts usually = a good movie).

Shirt.Woot have a delightful 8-bit Ghostbusters design.

Strangely, RIPT also have a Ghostbusters shirt, though with a Muppets twist.

Glow in the dark shirt from The Yetee.

Nowhere Bad have a Portal inspired shirt.

OtherTees have a nice Sherlock design. Did anyone see the last episode of the current run last night? That show is so damn good.

24Tee are selling a familiar stormtrooper design.

TeeRaiders have a Firefly design that I didn’t need to Google to work out what it was.

Quite a pretty Twitter design from Stupidhurts.us.

GraphicLab have a Portal shirt on sale all this week.

Tee Mashups is closing, which is unfortunate, though at least they are being up front about things and are sending refunds to people that will not receive their shirts.

Star Wars comes to Shirt Punch today.

Not my kind of tee at DBH today, but interesting nevertheless.

Hey look, Tilteed are selling Greg Abbott’s lovely fox design again.

Glennz has turned five of his designs into iPhone wallpapers (may also work with other smartphones, I’m not sure).

Tony over at Wrongwroks has released a parka jacket in five different colours.

Perception Apparel have put three of their tees on sale for $10.

Halfcut Clothing have released a shirt to celebrate their involvement with the Blind Tiger Collective. Use coupon code hcc10 to get 10% off your order in their store.

The official press release for the Boston Tee Party has been released, it doesn’t cover much new ground but it’s nice to have it all be ‘official’.

Big Cartel let us know about some of their milestones in 2012, such as collective store sales of over $100,000,000 from their almost 200,000 stores.

Mighty Fine are running a competition with Marvel to find an amazing Avengers t-shirt design with the winner receiving up to $2,500.

Johnny Cupcakes has a couple of new tees, and a couple of new hats in his stores.

Here’s Rihanna wearing a Celine t-shirt that probably cost more than my whole outfit.

Avril Lavigne wearing an ugly hoodie

by Andy on January 19, 2010

Celebrity posts are few and far between on HYA at the moment, which I’m sure most of you find to be something of a blessing, but I quite like these posts because I can be rude without feeling too much guilt, since I doubt Avril (seen here about to attempt some kind of ‘bear attack’ pose) is going to see this post and get depressed because I said I don’t like her hoodie. I’m pretty sure it is one of her hoodies too since it is covered with the word ‘Abbey’, and her clothing line is called Abbey Dawn, so I don’t exactly need to put on a detective hat to work that one out. There’s nothing particularly wrong with it, I just find it a bit messy, and the colour palette to be… bad.

I’m sure some of you will be disgusted, but I actually quite like the concept of Big Brother; putting people in a house and watching what happens could be interesting, I just don’t like all the tasks they get given, they’re obviously there to make the show more entertaining and to ensure there will be drama in the show, but I don’t like them, making the show more organic would be to my liking.

Anyway, Celebrity Big Brother kicked off on Sunday night, and then on the Monday show I couldn’t stop myself checking it out, curiosity got the better of me (I usually manage to avoid these kind of shows). One of the contestants this year is rapper Lady Sovereign, and I was sure I’d seen the tee she was wearing before. I was sure, but not sure enough to know who made it. So, as is the way these days, instead of researching it myself I just asked people on Twitter (I didn’t even google it now I think about it). Within an hour I had an answer from Regal Clothing, the tee (and necklace) are from Lazy Oaf, whose Kingly Court shop (just off Carnaby Street) I went in when I was down in London last month. Mystery solved!

109 I love NY style t-shirts for you to love

by Andy on December 14, 2009

109

After the success and popularity of my previous list posts such at the 202 Star Wars t-shirts and robot lists (and of course the ridiculously meta list of t-shirt lists), I started saving up links of tees that fit into various categories, but there’s no point me just saving them up indefinitely, so it’s about time I started posting all these lists, most of them don’t quite breach the lofty barrier of more than 100 items in a list, but as they say, it’s not the size, it’s the amount of time Andy spent thinking up the metaphor.

As fasr as t-shirts go, few are more iconic than the design Milton Glaser created to help promote New York (the state, not just the city) back in the 70s. That design has gone on to be used in hundreds of different ways and become part of American pop culture, so it’s hardly surprising that the style has found it’s way onto more than a few t-shirts.

As ever with my list posts, THEY ARE NOT IN ANY RANKED ORDER, the numbers are merely there to keep track of the amount of tees in the list. I say this every time and no one seems to listen, it’s as if you skip the intro and move straight on to all the tees! Also, there are some affiliate linked shirts in there, so it’s possible I will earn money from people buying certain t-shirts on this list, but as I’ve listed just about as many as I could find, it’s hardly surprising that some of the companies have affiliate programmes. Some of the tees in the list are sold out already, and depending upon the success of this post some of them could become sold out in the future, but they could also be reprinted, so in many ways these tees are like Schroedinger’s cat before you click on the link. The list has been split into two pages to make things a little bit easier on my server, but please click through to the second page, because some of my favourites are on there and I think the list finishes pretty strongly, so they’re all worth checking out.

As ever, any exposure you can give to the list (stumble, tweet, delicious bookmark, blog post, digg, ill-considered full-back tattoo) will be greatly appreciated, and I’ll write up a thank you post with links back to everyone that helped in a couple of weeks. Now let’s go love some t-shirts!

Jay Z wearing Simply Complicated Global View T-Shirt

I’m not even a big Jay-Z fan, but I would probably pass out if I found out that someone as admired as him in the music world sported one of my tees to a gig, let alone one at the biggest and best stadium in the UK (before anyone says it, I realise that there are locations in the UK that could be called a stadium which would hold mor people, but let’s be honest, they don’t really hold a candle to Wembley Stadium). I imagine that Jay-Z has a lot of fans that will follow everything he does closely, so it would be interesting to see if this tee has actually experienced a sales bump recently, but even if it hasn’t, the Simply Complicated crew must be feeling pretty good right now.

Costiness=$22.99 (use coupon code TWITTER to get 30% off) Available from Simply Complicated’s Big Cartel Store [via T-Shirts Around]

Avril Lavigne Out And About In Hollywood Avril Lavigne Out And About In Hollywood

I seemed to go through a phase of posting ‘Avril Lavigne wearing a hoodie looking pissed off at the paparazzi’ a while back but those posts tailed off when she ceased to release pop-pop-pop-punk tunes that I was embarrassed to enjoy listening to. I’ve got no idea who made the hoodie she’s so elegantly wearing, but I certainly do like the polka dot pattern on it.

Here’s the only person that geeks like more than Megan Fox, Olivia Munn, wearing a Wonder Woman tee whilst at Comic Con in San Diego at the weekend. My question is this, anyone know where it’s on sale? Obviously it’s been cut up/sexified by her/her stylist, but presumably the original can be found… somewhere.

The Ultimate List of T-Shirt Lists

by Andy on July 2, 2009

t-shirt-lists

You know what people love? T-Shirts. You know what people also love? Lists. I guess that explains why I’ve written so many t-shirt lists in the past, but did you know that other people have written lists about t-shirts as well? I know, crazy right, I’m not the only person who thought of that, hell, someone even devoted a whole blog to it.

I thought it might be useful to scour the web for these tee lists and put them all together in one big post. Of course, a lot of these lists will be fairly old now, and t-shirts inevitably come and go, so some of the tees featured in the lists will no longer be available, but there’s not a whole lot we can do about that now, is there? If you know of any lists that I’ve missed (and I’m sure there will be a lot), please let me know in the comments.

It would be very, very much appreciated if you could tweet about this post, stumble it, bookmark it on delicious, mention it in a blog post, digg it, or fly a banner behind an airplane with the URL on it, anything at all. These lists take a long time to put together, and the more people that get to see them the more people will be visiting the lists I’ve collected below, which will be beneficial for the entire t-shirt blogosphere.

    Chyler Leigh Likes Local Celebrity

by Andy on February 17, 2009

I have no idea who Chyler Leigh/Lexie Grey is because I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy, but I do really like this photo, which was in a recent mail-out from Local Celebrity.

I have no clue who Selena Gomez is, I was going to Google her name and find out why people should/would give a damn about her, but then I realised that I probably already know more about celebrities than a lot of people should, and that I’d just appreciate this picture for what it is, a girl wearing a cute tee with Casper the Friendly Gohst on it holding a massive ice cream, which we all know is a bit of a tease for him because ghosts can’t eat.

Wondering why there are so many celebrity posts on HYA today? Look here for an explanation.

I think I might have seen the Transformers movie about 6 or seven times now (in a normal cinema, in an IMAX in Hong Kong where I was the only person in the whole place, on DVD, and on Blu-Ray), so its fair to say that I thought it was awesome. Obviously, the story and acting were pretty terrible… but it was sooo cool!

I can’t find the exact same Transformers t-shirt as being worn by Josh Duhamel here (at what I presume is an Asian premiere of the film), but 80sTees have got a pretty substantial range of Transformers gear that is in a similar style.

I always thought that t.A.T.u (henceforth known as Tatu, becuase that’s what makes sense) were a cut above the usual pop trash. It wasn’t just because of their faux-lesbian antics either, the music really wasn’t that bad, which is high praise coming from someone who would only listen to pop-punk during Tatu’s heyday.

The tee looks like a fairly low budget affair, probably knocked up at short notice for one of their shows, but you can get one which looks fairly similar here if you feel the need to make it clear just how available you are.

Wondering why there are so many celebrity posts on HYA today? Look here for an explanation.

Britney Spears was a pretty frequent subject of previous celebrity postings, so it makes sense to kick the day off with her. This picture is actually from back when pretty much everything she did was described as being a “train wreck” but now that she’s now longer crazy I don’t feel quite as dirty posting about her. The green ribbon hoodie is by Primp, who Britters is frequently spotted wearing, but I’m afraid I can’t find it in stock anywhere.

Mila Kunis is back on HYA once again, and this time she’s getting all political and stuff with a ‘Barack the Vote’ t-shirt, its probably a good thing I can’t vote in American elections (on account of me not living there), because I’d probably probably try and trade my vote for a date with her, I know that’s just a little bit sad and pathetic… but seriously, have you seen her!

Just for a change in these celebrity posts, I actually know where the tee comes from (shocked? me too!), although admittedly the research was almost laughably easy. If you don’t want the design as a white t-shirt, it is also available as a tank top, hoodie, even a onesie.
