DeadBuryDead have just released the ‘first delivery’ of their Spring Line, which I assume means there is more to come other than the 8 shirts that just hit their shop.
Judging by the professional look of the images here, and that they’re going to be showing at Magic in Las Vegas this week, DBD are clearly stepping up their game and trying hit the next level. The new designs could be considered a bit more ‘mainstream’, but I like them, and it shouldn’t matter whether lots of people like a style, they’re still doing that style to a high standard.

When I get an e-mail mentioning an updated or redesigned website I’m ready to meh all over the place, but DeadBuryDead have actually build something pretty nice here, filling my big HD screen with a photo and laying the more traditional elements of the store over it. The site looks good, I certainly can’t discuss my pet peeve of tiny product pictures because there are plenty of shots of each item, and of course there’s the massive photo in the background at all times too.
The new shirts are worth taking a look at, though it’s probably a bit of a tough task trying to sell tees at regular price ($23.99) when there are so many sales going on at other stores around the internet at the moment.

A selection of Dead Bury Dead‘s tees are on sale (mostly logo based) for up to 60% off, so you’re looking at $9.99 if you feel like picking one up before the end of the week when the prices will go back to normal.

And the award for most over the top promo picture of the year goes to… Dead Bury Dead! Actually the most over the top thing is probably the little movie they made.
I quite like this tee, but it doesn’t really fit with other items that they’ve got in their store, although the Never Die Easy collection will consist of four tees, so perhaps it will reflect DBD going in a slightly different direction, for this collection at least.

I remember when I was in Philly and there was a Chinese takeout place that put the rice & lo mein into the same kind of takeout box that you see in the picture above. I was actually really excited to eat out of one because it really completed my American experience since I always saw people on TV eating out of them. So for that reason I am a little bit too excited that Dead Bury Dead are shipping this new tee (which by itself is mighty fine) in a take out container. Yup, that’s all it takes to excites Senor HYA, a cardboard box, it’s like I’m 5 or something.
It’s a little disappointing to see people continuing to perpertrate the myth that MSG is a bad thing though. I can see how it is lazy cooking (I use it when I’m cooking, and not just with Asian food) as it is often used to inject umami into a dish, but a lot of people still think that MSG is dangerous for your health, when in reality it’s just like a lot of other foods which are potentially dangerous if you eat vast quantities. Then again, what do I know, I write about t-shirts, and I only pretend to be a scientist on weekends.*

*simply not true.

It took me a second, but I got this design pretty quickly, and I really like the idea, it’s a good bit of word/graphic interplay, and the simple print works really well with it’s slight amount of ‘vintageness’ to it. I’m told it is available on heather grey but I don’t see it in the store, and I can’t see myself liking it more than this colourway anyhow.
