Margin London at HideYourArms

Margin London at HideYourArms

Margin London has been kindly invited to contribute to HideYourArms. We’ll be posting some news about up-and-coming labels that will be exhibiting at Margin in February 2013, which takes place on the 10th & 11th, but firstly we think we should introduce ourselves.

Started back in 2002 as an affordable platform for new designers, Margin is the longest-running independent trade exhibition in London. The show presents designer women’s and men’s tailoring and accessories, as well as streetwear for men and women, to invited store buyers and press.

The humble tee has long been a starting point for numerous labels, and we’ve seen many an exhibitor start off with a t-shirt offering which has grown over the seasons to include a full range of clothing. Supremebeing, Lazy Oaf, Seventyseven, Dephect, YourEyesLie, and many others all started at Margin with tees before growing their stockist base and extending their range to include clothing, bags, jewellery (or jewelry for Americans!), and hats.

Margin has been providing a launchpad for brands to meet with key buyers and press for 10 years to date, and 2012 marked a decade of exhibitions.

Margin London Streetwear Fashion Tradeshow Exhibition 10 Year Book

To commemorate the occasion, a limited-edition 10 year book was printed for visitors to the show, but it’s also available to download as a PDF or as a super-interactive book for iPad. The iPad version features extensive galleries of previous seasons, as well as videos, and can be downloaded here.

Here’s the link to posts where HideYourArms mentions Margin including brand updates from when they last visited (well overdue for a revisit but Andy & the HideYourArms London correspondent are returning in February 2013!).

Margin is an intimate showroom exhibition in a white gallery space in the heart of Central London, and the only tradeshow in the UK where buyers and press can discover new & emerging design talent (most making their debut launch).  When we say “NEW”, we don’t just mean new to Margin, we mean brand-spanking, never-been-seen-before, new!

Margin London Streetwear Fashion Tradeshow Exhibition

Since the exhibitions first started back in 2002, Margin can lay claim to providing the successful trade launch-pad for many brands such as Chateau Roux, Your Eyes Lie, Supremebeing, Dephect, Emily & Fin, Miyson, 1 in a 100, Missmilne, Worn By, Ashley Marc Hovelle, Humdrum, Worn Free, Sugarhill, King Apparel, Terratag, Lazy Oaf, Famous Forever, and Ruby Rocks, as well as the UK launching point of overseas brands including Silas, Upper Playground, Tank Theory, Eastpak Apparel, Loreak Mendian, Syndrome, Al & Alicia, Gama-Go, Mimobots, Double Goose, Stereo Sound Agency, Diamond Supply Co, Urban Originals, and Uzi amongst many others.

Margin London at HideYourArmsMargin has welcomed key stores to the exhibitions since first launching in 2002; from online players like ASOS, My-Wardrobe, and Urban Industry; multiples such as Ark, Joy, Beams, and Ships; department stores, such as Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Liberty, House of Fraser, Psyche, Fenwick, El Corte Ingles, Galleries Lafayette, & Engelhorn Trendhaus; as well as the key independents Margin is renowned for, including Colette, Hip, Sakis, Wood, Royal Cheese, Natterjacks, 290sqm, Coggles, Market, Atoo, My Yard, Donuts, Caliroots, and Get Cutie, to name a few.

Margin has welcomed numerous stylists and fashion editors from magazines including Vogue, Wad, Elle, Wallpaper, Arena, i-D, FHM, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Vice, DJ, Flux, WWD, Drapers, Sportswear International, and Sport & Street; as well as contributors from directional blogs such as BNTL, Coolhunting, Hypequest, Slamxhype, Hypebeast, and, of course, Hideyourarms.

T-shirt news for March 9th

by Andy on March 9, 2012

how I met your mother t-shirt

Considering how popular How I Met Your Mother is there are surprisingly few t-shirts about it, TeeFury are bucking that trend.

Shirt.Woot‘s description suggests that this shirt has nothing to do with the Brady Bunch.

Whiskey and zombies, a match made in the apocalypse (and at RIPT).

An Asian take on the three-eyed fish from the early days of The Simpsons are Qwertee.

Zelda inspired shirt at Shirt Punch.

A surprisingly intricate Vader design at The Yetee.

I might be reading a bit more into this that there really is, but today is the anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G’s death, and he had a song called ‘Recognize a Pimp’ so…. 24tee, did I crack the code?

Hydro74 has one of those styles you can recognise really easily, here he is at DBH today.

Today’s Made in the Now shirt references the story of a cupcake vending machine in Beverly Hills.

BustedTees ‘Control Freak’ design is down to $11 from $20.

Cute design gets another outing at Tilteed.

Tee and Toast are gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day with these Guiness brooches.

Last Exit to Nowhere were approached to be the official producer of crew t-shirts for John Carter (which is released today, just by chance), and they’ve been allowed to sell the shirts for a limited time.

SS12 is now online at Dephect.

New Diamond Supply Co snapbacks are in at Street Casuals.

SpringLeap have teamed up with Stimorol for their biggest ever design contest, and this time it’s for packaging, not tees.

Daily T-shirt News Roundup for January 13th

by Andy on January 13, 2012

exorcist rolling stones t-shirt

This shirt at TeeFury is a mashup of The Exorcist and the Rolling Stones, which is pretty appropriate for Friday the 13th, it’s almost like they planned it!

I’m fairly sure that I’ve seen this Firefly shirt somewhere else before it docked at Qwertee.

Shirt.Woot have the kind of shirt I would put on a level with Three Wolf Moon, except with no ironic redemption.

RIPT are getting into the Hobbit spirit a little early.

TeeMinus24 must have been watching LOTR too.

This 24tee shirt doesn’t really work with my British mind.

One for the Star Wars fans at TeeRaiders.

An Ozzy Osbourne/Iron Man parody for you today at Shirt Punch.

Now that’s an angry bear at DBH (who I notice have made a few little tweaks to their homepage).

Loviu are doing mystery tees for 7€ from now until the end of the month. The text says “order 3 mystery tees only 7 euros each” but I think that three is the maximum for one transaction, not the minimum, as I was able to add one tee to the cart when I gave it at go.

BustedTees have got their Hunger Games t-shirt on sale for $11.99 instead of $20 for the rest of today.

Hey look, Tilteed, are selling ‘Expansion II’ again.

Details of Graniph‘s design award have been announced. Submissions open on February 1st, and the top prize is 500,000 yen, which is probably a lot of money.

Graniph are also having their winter sale at the moment, loads of goods marked down by as much as 50%.

Turista Clothing have a 35% off coupon code at the moment, HPY2012, that will be live until January 15th. They also have some new tees you many want to check out. [via TTG]

Kid Robot have a decent sale on, with 50% off all of last year’s designs.

The first of Obey’s Spring 2012 line has dropped at Urban Industry.

I think that only a mother could love these (recently restocked) barcode hoodies at Methods NYC, but the coupon code of BRICK getting you 25% off your order on anything in the store until tomorrow at midnight (EST, presumably) is a lot more tantalising.

Taken Clothing have got everything on sale for $20 until January 17th. I’m not sure how much things cost before the sale, but presumably it was more than $20.

Get 13% off your order at Trust No One with the coupon code UNLUCKYFORSOME until 9am tomorrow UK time.

Own the Night Clothing have a sale on until midnight UK time. [via TTG]

Complex list the 50 greatest pop culture reference in streetwear.

Tee Gazette have an interview with Twin SRPNT.

20% off everything at Sin Star Clothing with the coupon code 13 today only.

Oh No Berlin now have a brand store at A Better Tomorrow.

Dephect’s January sale is still going on with t-shirts as low as £9.99.

Antique Clothing also have a sale going on with item as low as £15. [via TTG]

HYA tri-blend tees in the HYA store are £13 for today only, a saving of £3, limited quantities available pick them up before they sell out.

There’s up to 35% off in the big sale at Human Empire.

pokemon t-shirt

I hope you guys all enjoyed Christmas and the New Year, it was a great break for me not thinking about t-shirts (much) and enjoying guilt-free eating. Good luck to everyone in 2012!

TeeFury have a Pokemon t-shirt that I don’t understand.

RIPT drop a Harry Potter-insipred shirt.

Daily Tees & news for December 14th

by Andy on December 14, 2011

ghostbusters t-shirt

My internet connection has been misbehaving recently so don’t be surprised if there are less updates on HYA over the next few days.

I think that the pixelation might be my favourite part of this Ghostbusters shirt at TeeFury.

Why would you get a breakfast buffet at night? Or does the text at the bottom mean that they serve breakfast, a buffet at lunch, and then table service in the evening? I can’t help but feel I’m focusing on the wrong aspect of this RIPT shirt.

The Yetee have dropped a mashup shirt for fans of Pokemon and the Evil Dead.

TeeMinus24 are trying to keep everyone happy.

How have I not seen this Star Trek concept before? 24tee

I really like this collage shirt from Loviu.

I think I remember a not-particularly-memorable fighting game where you did climb a totem pole as to cleared the levels, anyone? Cool Street Fighter design from Bamboota at Shirt Punch, and I’m glad they’re going with that big print otherwise the design would have been dwarfed by the rest of the shirt.

Another nice but hard to describe shirt from DBH.

I think this shirt on BustedTees Deal of the Day for $9 makes a lot of sense at Christmas, since it’s the time of year when your parents force you to stop playing Kinect and dust off board games instead. Busted Tees have also extended their sale, use the coupon code CHEAPTEES to get your shirts for $12.99 or less.

Here’s a first for me from Tee Mashups, a Domino’s x Star Wars mashup, well, somebody had to do it, I guess.

Internal Error is the £10 festivitee at origin68.

Shirt.Woot have a depressing t-shirt on sale today.

Stupidhurts.us have a Charlie Chaplin design that I don’t understand, possible explanations in the comments please.

A classic Greg Abbott design is back on sale at Tilteed.

PalmerCash have lots of new t-shirts and yes, that is the guy from breaking Bad.

Sneaky Studio are offering free shipping until the New Year with the coupon code SANTA.

Get 25% off your order at Dephect this month with the coupon code DEC11.

UK XFactor winners Little Mix tweeted a picture of themselves wearing shirts from Truffle Shuffle when they were interviewed by Chris Moyles on Radio 1.

Boing Boing are selling this cool half-knit zombie ski-mask that might confuse a few people on the slopes.

80sTees are giving away this Griswald Family Christmas shirt when you spend $50 or more. [via Rude Retro]

Monster Press are showing off their printing prowess by selling this sample shirt designed by Craig Robson for £5. Monster printed the grey shirt in the HYA store if you’d like to see what their printing is like on a tri-blend.

Among Villains are giving away $150 of goods, check out this Mintees post to see how you can be in the running.

Terratag are offering 25% off until Christmas day, no coupon needed, discount applied automatically at the checkout.

Daily Tees & News Roundup for November 4th

by Andy on November 4, 2011

pacman mario t-shirt

I like the concept but I’m not too into the style of the artwork in this Pcamn x Mario mashup tee at TeeFury today. It looks more like a comic (and a well illustrated one, let me be clear) than a t-shirt design.

Oooooh, political shirt from Qwertee today, very cool, very timely.

Another old shirt from Tilteed, I’d love to know when they’ll be dropping some new designs.

Nice colourway on today’s Stupidhurts.us robot t-shirt.

It’ll never last, they’re from two different worlds! Shirt.Woot.

I’m glad this has the word ‘Firefly’ written on it otherwise I’d have had to hunt out the reference on this RIPT tee.

I love Zoidberg, so I think that this Futurama tee at TeeMinus24 is pretty nifty.

I love lunch, it’s one of the few times in the day that I’m not staring at a screen. This shirt is referring to the film Wall Street, so I can only assume that 24tee are hoping to pick up sales from the 1%!

Another oldie from Loviu, cool though.

Aren’t we all always at the corner of time and space? Catch of the Day Tee.

Not getting the reference on today’s Shirt Punch design, is it something to do with Portal?

Time to add TeeBlitz to the daily roster. This $10 tee shop has got that fantastic astronaut-based design on sale for the weekend.

Urban Industry are offering free shipping on orders until November 18th to try and encourage early shoppers. As you can tell from the infographic, they’re also offering extended returns and reminding you that gift vouchers are a thing.

Use the coupon code SEPT to get 20% off your order at Enclothe until 11/11/11, who have just introduced a new hoodie and had a few restocks too.

BustedTees are bringing in daily deals, starting with their Honey Badger shirt being $12 until midnight (EST).

PLNDR have got some ridiculous deals going on, probably on stuff that you’ll regret buying, but still. Oh, and if you manage to spend $100 or more, use the coupon code 20BUCKZ to get $20 off your order.

Karmaloop‘s latest offer is: “This Week:Spend $75 get *free shipping, Spend $125 get 15% off + *free shipping, Spend $200 get 20% off + *free shipping, Spend $350 get 25% OFF+ *free shipping,
USE CODE: LEVEL25 *$8 off international shipping” I wonder if anyone has ever bought anything for full price at Karmaloop.

Buy 4 shirts and get 1 free at Spreadshirt this month.

Dephect are offering a free card wallet with all orders, and the cool part is that you get to choose which wallet you receive depending on the coupon code you use. From right to left in the picture, these are the coupons to use: CITYWALLET ODWALLET ICECREAM BUYRECORDS.

Concrete Rocket have expanded their product range with a couple of jackets.

New shirt from A Better Tomorrow.

Mental Floss have got shirts as low as $9.99 for people that like their funny tees with some smarts to go with them.

Storenvy have a guide to taking photos of small items for your store, which will be of limited use to people with just t-shirts in their store, but it’s a decent tutorial and I felt it was worth adding to the news roundup today.

Daily Tee & News Roundup October 28th

by Andy on October 28, 2011

panda astronaut t-shirt

Very nice Panda/astronaut t-shirt from TeeFury today.

Another oldie-but-goodie from Greg Abbott at Tilteed today, it’s a really lovely design.

Weren’t you always a little disappointed when you had to play as Luigi? Stupidhurts.us

Hahaha, silly owl. Shirt.Woot

Nice tribute to A Clockwork Orange at RIPT today.

If a single one of you gets the reference on this TeeMinus24 design I will be amazed.

Fairly creepy looking Doctor Who design at OtherTees today.

24tee bring us a classic Halloween design.

I didn’t like this Donald Duck shirt when Loviu first released it, and on the second viewing my opinion has not changed.

I have no clue what is going on in this Catch of the Day Tee shirt.

Nice Doctor Who design from Shirt Punch, I think it’s fair to say those guys have had a pretty decent first week.

I stumbled upon this fantastic tutorial by Natalie Jost detailing several ways that you can customize your Big Cartel store to give it features which you would usually expect to see in a standalone ecommerce solution.

Sturban are offering free delivery in the UK on all orders until the end of the month.

BustedTees have put all their fall releases on sale for $14 a piece until noon (EST) on October 31st.

Dephect are offering 25% off all their tees with the coupon code HALLOWEEN11 until November 3rd.

I’ve never heard of Kii Arens before, but their shirts are on Fab.com now, $19.50 down from $35, and they’re looking mighty fine.

Digital Gravel have knocked 50% off everything, which is pretty huge, all you have to do is use the coupon code THX2011, the infographic says 3 days, but it’s now more like two and a half.

T-Post, the Swedish t-shirt subscription service, are going to stop using a wholesale blank (I’m fairly sure they were using American Apparel) and produce their own shirts, and they want feedback from you to help make it ‘the best t-shirt the world has ever seen.’

That above is a relaunch teaser for PPRHRT, I was unaware that they were in need of a relaunch but there you go, like their Facebook page to keep up to date with their relaunch progress.

A reminder that Urban Industry‘s big Halloween sale is ongoing.

PLNDR are giving away a $250 gift pack from Breezy Excursion, who I’ve never heard of so I presume that means they’re popular.

If you spend more than £40 at Dephect in the rest of May (not too hard since their tees are £25, basically buy 2 items and you’re set) then you can receive 20% off your order with the coupon code MAY11. The coupon code expires at the end of the month.

keshone x dephect t-shirt

Pretty cool, huh? I’m not cool enough to know who keshone is, but I know know he’s a grafitti artist and he can make a sweet tee design, so he’s alright in my book.

Costiness=£24.99 Buy it at Dephect (also available on cyan)

dephect dank hoodie

Is it just me, or is describing something as ‘dank’ generally not a good thing?

I’m sure once you’re wearing this hoodie though you’d stop giving a damn what it’s called since it doesn’t appear to have ‘Dank’ printed on it anywhere, in fact it just looks like rather a nice hoodie. They’ve customised just about every aspect of this hoodie, gingham hood lining, a chest pocket (quilted, no less), contrast drawstrings, and even a custom logo zip pull. Not half bad, Dephect.

Costiness=£59.99 (inc. free UK delivery) Buy it at Dephect

Spring Line at Dephect Now Available

Nick Mannion MOD:1

The Urban Retro crew are clearly just waiting for the day when our robot slaves inevitably rise-up, stop riding bicycles for our amusment, and enslave the rest of us because they’ve been appeasing the robot world with so many fine, fine robot-based products in their store. They’ve added t-shirts by Dephect and Terratag, vinyl toys, iPod & iPhone gelaskins and even some Poketo wallets that all benefit from that extra touch of awesome that can only come from having a robot-based design.

Throughout the whole month of April you can get 15% off your order (that doesn’t necessarily have to involve robot products… I think) by using the coupon code LOVEROBOTS. There’s that number 15 again, this is getting kinda weird!

Check out their blog post all about the latest releases.
