kozyndan have an Etsy account?

by Andy on November 11, 2009

il_430xN.98533779

This post has nothing to do with tees, but regular readers will be aware that I’m a bit of a fan of the art duo known as Kozyndan, and it would appear that they have an Etsy store to sell items that for one reason or another aren’t on their main site, like original paintings, drawings, and photograhs. Cool!

As ever, I think this tee would benefit a bit from increasing the print size so that it filled out the shirt more, but otherwise I really enjoy the simplicity of it.

Space Invaders Cushions!

by Andy on September 29, 2009

il_430xN.92616161

You obviously can’t wear these, but my head pops up like a meerkat when I hear the words ‘space’ and ‘invaders’ said in very close proximity to one-another, and I know a lot of you are the same so there was no way I wasn’t going to give these cushions a quick mention. What you can’t tell from the picture above (but can see in the gallery), is that the actual aliens are made up of an alien pattern, further increasing the level of Space Invaders awesomeness in these cushions. It is $45 for a single patchwork cushion cover, so they aren’t particularly cheap, but I guess quite a lot of work goes into making a patchwork anything.

PacMan & Lost Buttons

Clearly, these are not t-shirts, or hoodies, but I found a Etsy seller called Slevin11 tucked away in my thousands of bookmarks (that shall ensure HYA never runs out of content) who makes these fantastic buttons that I just had to share. Other than the Lost and Pacman buttons I’ve feautred above, there are also Pokemon, Mario, and photography themed button packs available.

According to this comment on the 202 Star Wars t-shirts list, the above flutter sleeve shirt was made just for us HYAers, I hope it wasn’t made with me in mind, because I just don’t have the shoulders for it. When something is created with HYA in mind, chances are I’m going to feature, and letting your model bring the sexy to the photoshoot can’t hurt either (I hope Mrs. HYA isn’t reading this…).

narwhal segway t-shirt

I was going to write about this beautiful Narwhal t-shirt, then I saw a narwhal riding a Segway and realised that I couldn’t in good conscience pass up an opportunity to post a narwhal called GOB riding a segway since I doubt it will happen again in the near future. Contender for t-shirt of the year? Ummm, yah!

202 Star Wars T-Shirts [Lists]

by Andy on July 16, 2009

star-wars-t-shirts-logo

I think that you’d be pretty hard pressed to find a series of movies that have gained as much of a following as Star Wars, and as you’d expect that has resulted in a huge amount of t-shirts being produced that reference the films in one way or another. So, being HYA, I thought that I’d better make an unnecessarily large list of them. As always, the t-shirts are not ranked, the numbers are merely there as an illustration so that we all know which is which, so being #1 or #202 means nothing. Some of these tees will be pretty recognisable as they’ve been featured on HYA before, and some were also in the 101 Robots List from last month, but if you know of any I haven’t featured then please let me know in the comments. The list has also been split up into pages to ensure swift loading times (my server may probably wouldn’t like people loading 202 pictures at a time).

As you would expect these lists take quite a long time (this one took about 30 hours, seriously), so if you deem it worthy, it would be fantastic if you could promote this article in any way. Twitter, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Digg, your own blog, carve the URL onto a tree, anything!

I’ve re-written this post a few times, but I don’t really know what to say about this hoodie, I like it, that much I know, but I can’t find adequate words. I can tell you that it is printed on Alternative Apparel’s eco-earth line, and is a recycled poly and cotton blend… which is nice, though it should also be noted that it is a thin hoodie, basically a long-sleeve tee with a hood I would assume.

Expect to see more of Fifty Seven Thirty Three, you want to know why? Because their tees look awesome (they aren’t the cheapest out there, mind you). This tee isn’t actually particularly representative of their style, they aren’t exactly a laffer of a brand, but this design certainly did raise a smile.

Oh, it would appear that I’ve mentioned them before.

101 Robot T-Shirts [Lists]

by Andy on June 19, 2009

100robottees1

With the release of what is almost certain to be the greatest movie of all time today in the UK and across the world over the next week, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity for me to hunt down some robot t-shirts, especially as the previous robot-themed lists have are two of Hide Your Arm’s most popular articles to date. I must admit that I was a total child for the first Transformers live-action movie, even though I realise that in many, many ways it is utterly terrible, but I still smiled throughout the whole thing because it was goddamn awesome. Robots, fighting, and Megan Fox, what more could I possibly want? I’m pretty sure that you could rob my house whilst that film is on TV and I’d only realise you were doing it once you unplugged the Blu-Ray player. I guess you could say I’m a little excited about Revenge of the Fallen being released, which is why I went a little robot crazy and compiled this huge robot tee loving list. Enjoy!

Collective Names for Animals by Xenotees

by Andy on February 28, 2009

il_430xn58953013

I thought it might be fun to check out what Philadelphians on Etsy were producing, and I found this really cool pullover which has loads of the weird collective terms for animals, including the best band name ever “Murder of Crows” and the hilarious “business of ferrets.” You can’t make out the text in any of the pics, but this is the kind of clothing that I think I’d find fascinating, though it does basically give a guy a reason to look at a ladies chest, so (“sleuth of..”) bear that in mind women of Philadelphia. Not that you wouldn’t be wearing a coat in the city anyway, it was so cold I thought my ears were going to snap off on Monday when I was crossing Broad Street.

Newvember at Lucha Workshop

by Andy on November 13, 2008

The folks over at Lucha Workshop dropped me a line to let me know that they’ve got a few new items in their store for November that continue to riff on their usual themes of sci-fi and vintage technology. If the tee above (a collage of many characters from sci-fi) or the hoodie and tee in the gallery don’t tickle your fancy, they’ve got an Etsy store that contains one-offs, sample items and alternate colourways.

Joe of Fantastic Bonanza! fame may well have semi-retired from blogging, but clearly he’s still as obsessed with clothing as I am, because he pointed me in the direction of this very interesting piece. I’m still not totally sold on the idea of a hoodie and a blazer making sweet-love and producing hybrid offspring, but it doesn’t mean I’m not intrigued by the idea.

This example of the breed certainly annoys me a lot less than others I’ve seen, it looks really high quality, and if you think that you can pull it off then it might be worth your $265 of hard-earned cash.
