Post image for Big Cartel now has 250,000 artists, planning a big party to celebrate

I can’t be the only person who thinks that ‘artists’ is quite a strange way to describe people that have opened stores on Big Cartel?

Yes, some of them will be artists, but not all of them, I certainly wouldn’t describe myself as an artist but I have a store on Big Cartel (the HYA store). Odd wording aside this is a big milestone for Big Cartel, and to celebrate they’re having a party at their HQ in Salt Lake City, Utah, if any readers are in the area and head down it would be great to get a report from the event.

Post image for Back To School Streetwear Sale in Bristol on Saturday

I won’t be going, and most likely the vast majority of HYA readers won’t be going, but if you’re in the Bristol area on Saturday you might want to pop into the Big Chill Bar and pick up some new gear. Students can get 10% off at the bar with their NUS card too!

Boston Tee Party Recap Winky Boo Style

by Amy_F on August 19, 2012

Boston Tee Party 2012

Last weekend was a huge weekend for the indie clothing community.  Months of planning lead to the First Annual Boston Tee Party & Artist/Design Expo.  Hosted by Kelly Murphy (owner of Saucewear & The Tee Gazette) and co-hosted by (yours truly) Amy Fiedler (owner of Winky Boo & blogger/contributor for Hide Your Arms), the Tee party took place in where else? Boston, MA!

Brands from all over gathered in Boston to take part in the Boston Tee Party.  From New Jersey, to California, Florida and UK, we all traveled to take part in this extraordinary event that didn’t disappoint.  Starting the day off with 3 guest speakers which then lead us into the shopping and networking part while the live music played.

For the rest of my recap of the First Annual Boston Tee Party and to check out photos from the event head on over to the Winky Boo Blog for a closer look at this outstanding Indie Event!!

Get ready for the Boston Tee Party!

by Andy on January 4, 2012

Boston teeparty

Kelly over at Tee Gazette is putting together a very ambitious event in Boston this summer. Essentially, it’s a trade show, a networking event, a party, a chance to learn about the business, and a gig. Obviously I won’t be there, but hopefully a lot of t-shirt people that I’ve written about on HYA will be attending and it will be a great chance for people that have connected over the internet to connect in the real world, make some business contacts, and have a damn good time.

The specifics of the event haven’t been nailed down yet, but you can find Tee Gazette’s announcement about the event here, where you can also register your interest.

Renegade Craft Fair London

My girlfriend has surprised me with a weekend away in London for my birthday, so I’m going to be heading down to the Renegade Craft Fair today (or maybe tomorrow depending on how the timing works out) to see all the crafty awesomeness that’s on show, from people I’ve never heard of and a few that we know very well like Tee and Toast and Fuzzy Ink. If no one scowls at me too much I will take pictures and report back early next week on Renegade’s first foray outside the US.

I will have a load of stickers and buttons with me, so if you see me and want to say hi I will have those to give out, and if you do see me please say hi because I still tell the story of when a reader stopped me on the street in Philadelphia, and that story is getting a bit stale now that it’s two years old. Make me feel famous guys! I look like this, and will likely have a white DSLR with a red camera strap around my neck.

Find out more about the craft fair here.

johnny cupcakes ice cream sandwich

This right here, this is a werid promo. Johnny Cupcakes is having a meetup in LA today (Westwood is in LA right, I’m sure I remember that on the map), and if you turn up to Diddy Riese at 10pm wearing a JC tee (and really, what else would you be wearing?) he’ll give you a free ice cream sandwich. Presumably other fun things will occur.

Lhome news: Afternoon Tee & Roktic

by Andy on September 29, 2008

Kieran from Lhome got in touch to let me know about a few exciting new developments that are going down with them. First, they’re in Roktic, which is a British webshop that’s quickly establishing itself as a good place to shop by stocking some really great brands (what a novel process), and the addition of Lhome only strengthens their roster (there’s also free shipping to anywhere at Roktic until the end of the month, hurry!).

Second, they’re going to be one of the brands selling their wares at this years Afternoon Tee in Plymouth. Afternoon tee is an event on October 12th where some of the UKs top small & independent brands come together to sell their clothes, with live screen printing, live DJs and music and a couple of parties to provide extra entertainment. I’m really glad that there’s an event like this in the UK, hopefully it will be a big success, and maybe inspire further events around the country.
