$7 grab bags at TeeFury today

by Andy on June 24, 2013

Didn’t these used to be $6 a piece? Still really cheap though.

Post image for The Yetee: Today’s Tee For Your Torso – Hands on T-shirt Review!

Two tees for me! Sorry for being especially excited, but I received some great tees from The Yetee, and I know you wouldn’t blame me for being even more cheerful than usual after you see the tees I get to wear. For this review, Andy went ahead and ordered from The Yetee’s grab-bag, (grab-bag meaning random tees) for me to review. The guys over at The Yetee are mind-readers, or maybe I am just really lucky, because I got two t-shirts that I have always wanted from them, but missed when they were printed a little while ago.

Let me back up a bit, are you familiar with The Yetee? Well you really should become acquainted soon if you aren’t. They are a tee-a-day site which basically says it all; they showcase a new tee daily and once that time is over (and in The Yetee’s case, it’s 24 hours most cycles, though sometimes 48 hours depending on the shirt), then after the timer runs out, the tee is gone forever. The Yetee has come a long way since they first launched, which I can’t believe was only a little over a year ago, but their success doesn’t come as much of a surprise since it’s run and owned by two dedicated artists, Glen O’Neill and Mike Mancuso, which needless to say, both have a great passion for tees. It’s also safe to say that The Yetee is a generous crew as they have been involved and hosted various fundraisers for charities throughout their time as a business, and we all can’t help but admire and applaud that.

My tees were nicely packed in a normal mailer, everything printed clearly, and even the cute Yetee mascot placed sweetly on the shipping label. I would love to see a custom printed mailer with their mascot on it somewhere, that would be an excellent touch. Inside, tucked in with my tees, were several stickers, and cute ones at that! The illustrations are based on The Yetee’s mascot – the pretty Yetee lady by Megan Lara and the cool, growling Yetee face by WinterArtwork, both being designers that are dominating the t-shirt world.

Speaking of Megan Lara, this one titled Do What You Dream was designed by her and is inspired by one of my most loved childhood films, The NeverEnding Story. As you can see, it’s completely filled with characters from the film and the art is just gorgeous, simple as that. I am especially drawn to the composition, as well as the astounding glow of Falcor above the Empress – this t-shirt is a dream to those who know and love this story.

This shirt is printed on a women’s small Gildan Softstyle, which I mentioned in my previous review, tends to be a little short for me (and, sadly, a little too tight, ugh.) I really need to remember to order a medium when it comes to Gildan! I am not criticizing this blank, rather I actually really like the softness of the Softstyle as it’s name gives away, but I like tees to fit a little loose rather than being really form-fitting.

The next tee is a good one on many levels. 1.) It’s The Yetee’s 100th design to be printed, which makes it special to me. 2.) It also features the one and only, Yetee, the mascot and logo of this company. AND 3.) Yetee is repeated on this tee and in so many different pop-culturey ways, I can’t pick a favorite! Actually, I lied, I love the Chewbacca Yetee the best…

Unlike the other tee, this one is printed on a women’s small Tultex Fine Jersey blank. It fits nicely as well, but seems to feel a little thicker than the Gildan Softstyle, as well as a little larger and longer, so I like the fit of this one a little more. I also like how the sleeves are longer on the Tultex – I prefer them to the normal capped sleeves that most girly fitted tees have. The Yetee also prints using heathered tees on occasion, which are of a poly blend – so it seems to me that they print on several types depending on the design and availability.

As for print, both of the tees are spot on. The Do What You Dream feels especially smooth and soft, and when you look at it up close it’s incredibly clean, obviously screen printed and all proudly printed at Threadbird! The only thing that I miss when examining everything, is the possibility of a custom printed tag or sewn on tag – either one would have really grabbed my attention. Even The Yetee logo printed subtly somewhere would be a great addition to the tee as a whole.

Thank you Glen and Mike over at The Yetee for sending me tees to be reviewed, though you had no idea I was going to, but don’t fret, you won me over with your quality and branding, that’s for sure! And as always, thanks to everyone for reading!

snorg tees

It’s almost pun overload at Snorg this week, but my personal favourite is the vampire crest design. Anyone tempted by the grab bags at that bargain price?

4 random tees for $30 at BustedTees

bustedtees grab bag

Grab bags seem to be popular at the moment, with BustedTees getting in on the act with a 4 for $30 deal, anyone dare to spin the roulette wheel?

BustedTees $30 Grab Bag

teefruy sale

$6 shirts at TeeFury today, gotta say that’s pretty tempting for a random shirt, anyone going to take the chance? Oh, and you are guaranteed to get different designs if you order more than one shirt at a time, and I think you’re limited to 12 shirts in any size (not sure if that is per order or not).

I like ‘Slow and Steady’ from Shirt.Woot today, quite a novel take on the tortoise vs. hare story. $10 today only.

‘Go Riders’ is a Games of Thrones shirt from RIPT that I just don’t understand, pretty cool looking design, but there’s a reason why there aren’t many orange shirts in my wardrobe. From $10 today only.

A Harvey Birdman t-shirt? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a design based on HB, so this is pretty exciting for me… I’m not going to buy it of course, but still, good on The Yetee for finding an under-utilised niche of geeky tees. $11 for the next few days/

Fun design from Loviu today, not the kind of thing I’d buy, but it looks good and I like the colour combo. €12 today, €22 after that.

This is clever, really novel approach. $12 for the next few hours at Tilteed.

I was actually playing Left4Dead 2 last night, which I believe this design at Qwertee is based on, really cool game, I’m not good at it, but it is fun to dip in and out of when you’re bored of writing about t-shirts and just want to mow down approaching zombies with a chainsaw. £8 until midnight tomorrow.

sleepy dan sale

I had been meaning to mention Sleepy Dan for a couple of weeks, but it’s always nice to introduce a brand when they’ve got a sale going on.

End of summer is getting close. So it’s time to get ready for SCHOOL and Sleepy Dan is going to help outfit and supply you for classes with a Back 2 Old School – Grab Bag sale! You’re gonna get a FREE drawstring NAPsack, school supplies, and a free shirt when you buy two shirts. How can you beat a deal like that?

Not a bad deal at all. I can;t see any special products in their Big Cartel powered store, so I can only presume that you just have to order two shirts and they’ll sort out the rest.

angry spade grab bag

Angry Spade now has grab bag tees! We’ve decided to give you folks the to option to grab an Angry Spade shirt for just $9!

thinkgeek random t-shirt

ThinkGeek tees wouldn’t usually grace the pages of Hide Your Arms since they aren’t really my style, but since HYA has become something of a haven for sysadmins recently following the publicity The IT Crowd posts brought the site I couldn’t resist posting such a tempting deal, and who knows you might pick up a Glennz tee as one of their random shirts!

Bigger dudes are stuck with a $6.99 (XXL) and $7.99 (XXXL) price point, the ladies add on another buck and are paying $8.99 for a tee, and skinny people (S-XL) will be paying $5.99, not exactly a lot for a random t-shirt at ThinkGeek.

Thriving Ink Grab Bag: 3 tees for $15!

by Andy on August 3, 2010

thriving ink grad bag offer

Pretty sweet deal eh, friends? For just $15 you will receive 3 random shirts from previous Thriving Ink lines, and whilst I do feel that their latest line is a big step forward design-wise, their old stuff didn’t exactly suck. Oh, and it’s only $5 for shipping, so all-in it’s $20 for 3 tees. Oh, and if I remember correctly from the last TI post I did, they don’t do international shipping, sorry.

seibei grab bag promo

Had a great weekend in Brussels, but the t-shirt world continues to turn in spite of my absense (shocking, right?) and I got sent a lot of e-mails about deals over the weekend, so instead of eeking them out over the day I’m just doing one megapost stuffed with enough deals to keep your wallet happy.

First deal is the Seibei grab bag promo, $13 for a random tee in your size and some other goodies, and if you order before July 9th you’ll be entered into a competition to win a hand-painted firgurine which David sculpted and cast himself, so it’s an unusual (one of a kind?) competition prize. Nice!

All tees from the wonderfully named Dripping In Fat are £10 for the summer, or at least until 1st September, I’m not sure if that’s officially the end of summer but that’s when this offer will be ending.

French streetwear brand Stereo Panda have got a big sale going on with up to 70% off some products. They usually aren’t the cheapest of brands so this is a good opportunity to pick them up on the cheap.

To be completely honest Parrotghost don’t sell my style of tee, but maybe they’re right up your alley, and they’re celebrating their relaunch with a buy one get one free offer from now until July 4th.

LTD Tee have got another box set on sale for $26.99 from now until July 4th, but you can get 15% off that price with the coupon code hideyourarms

One of the newer advertisers on HYA, Summerjunk, are offering a free ‘swan’ tee with every purchase on their site, pretty cool, huh? The deal will br running for about a month, and details are here.

LadyUmbrella are another tee company getting in on World Cup tee fever. They’re offering 25% off everything in their store (and free shipping!) as long as Spain are in the World Cup with the coupon code fiesta25. They’re playing Portugal tonight, and whilst I feel like they have the edge you never know, so this coupon might be expiring pretty soon!

Fancy an Urban Outiftters coupon code? I thought you might. Use the code SUMMER15 to get 15% off at Urban Outiftters from now until July 5th, there’s quite a lot of restrictions on the code, but if you’re buying clothing from them (online), then the code should work. As you can tell from the grpaihc they’ve also got a sale going on, though I don’t think that sale items can have the 15% coupon code applied to them. Still, cheaper clothes!

3 tee for $33 at The Onion’s Store, a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Use the coupon code 3FOR33 to receive the discount.

$5 grab bag tees at TeeFury today only!

by Andy on June 15, 2010

teefury grab bag

You’ve got about 11 hours to get in on this deal, I’ve heard about people picking up older Design By Humans t-shirts in previous TeeFury grab-bag sales, so it’s entirely possible that the same arrangement is going down this time around, meaning there are a vast number of possible tees to be picked up.

I’m not sure how long this deal will last, but as it’s a New Year’s offer I can’t see it lasting much longer. Unlike most grab bag offers, you actually get to pick your tees in this case, and as a tee from Random Objects will usually set you back about $20 this is clearly a great deal, especially as they’ve got at least 3 tees that you’ll like (probably).

$5 grab bag tees at Teefury, today only

by Andy on November 30, 2009

I’m not posting much today because I’ve attempted to have a life rather than being a tee-deal posting machine, but if some Cyber Monday stuff comes up that I just HAVE to post I’ll give it a mention.

*The gif from the teefury website didn’t resize when I uploaded it, but after the “wait,” bit in the picture it goes on to explain that for your $5 + shipping you’ll receive a tee that was printed within the last 70 days at Teefury, or a premium tee from Design By Humans, so it’s a pretty good deal!

I think the infographic makes it pretty clear what the offer at Terratag, so those of you willing to live on the wild side and buy without knowing what you’re getting (except for a hefty saving on their usual prices) will probably be a little excited right now. If you’re the kind of person that likes a bit more control and wants to see the merchandise before you part yourself with your cash, Urban Retro have got quite a lot of Terratag t-shirts on sale for as low as £9.99 each, which is actually the same price as the grab bag on a per-tee basis, but I think that the sale designs are older stock, whereas you don’t know what you’ll be getting in the grab bag.

Grab bags can be a perplexing beast, you may be getting a good deal, but is it really a good deal if you don’t like what the postman (or woman, it is the 21st century) brings to your door?

Fortunately Concrete Hermit make good tees, by good artists, and whilst I’ve never perused one of their books, it’s safe to presume they’re pretty cool too, and £15 for a tee AND a book is a good deal considering their tees usually run around £25. I’ll warn you though, your tee may not necessarily be one that can be bought on the site, which could mean that it’s old stock from their previous releases, or possibly that it’s a super limited edition rare tee by a ‘name’ artist, who knows?

Just name your size here and CH will do the rest.

SerendipiTees from Design By Humans

by Andy on March 9, 2009

Get a mystery tee from Design By Humans for $10, and apparently the tees will be random, so you won’t be stuck with what we’ll charitably call a ‘slow seller’.

Beautiful/Decay are a Mystery

by Andy on January 10, 2009

I was perusing Beautiful/Decay’s new site dedicated to their apparel line (the actual store is still served by Indie Merch though), and I noticed that they’re offering mystery grab bag’s of their hoodies and tees. 2 random hoodies for $60, 3 random artist series tees for $30, and 3 random tees for $25. Considering that B/D don’t make bad clothes (it’s as simple as that), this is a very, very good deal.

It’s good that B/D have given the apparel line its own separate site, previously it had felt as if the line was just tacked onto the main magazine site, but now you can get a much better sense from the brand without the magazine over-shadowing it, and it’s cool seeing all the behind-the-scens stuff that they’re posting to the blog.

Beautiful/Decay: Grab Bag

by Andy on April 23, 2008

Last week it was 15% discounts, this week it seems to be grab bags, go figure. B/D made up some pretty refreshing blurb so I’m just going to copy/paste the news to you:

Beautiful/Decay presents the ultimate t-shirt grab-bag promotion at a bargain basement prices! For the standard $24.95 price of a single shirt, you will instead receive THREE randomly selected shirts, pulled from any of the artist-based designs and brands featured on our website, including the ever-popular Beautiful/Decay artist’s series apparel line. That’s like $8 a shirt. Of course, at a cut-rate price like this, all sales are final and non-returnable. You might receive two of the same shirt, but quit talking about your feelings and do some living. Get rad, use your mind, eat pizza, and take a gamble on the grab bag.

$24.95 for 3 shirts? Now that’s a deal!

2one5: Grab Bag Time!

by Andy on April 22, 2008

2one5’s $95 grab bag

Time for a copy/paste moment to make sure that I get none of the details wrong:

2one5 is going be having a grab bag for the next two weeks! For $95, each grab bag will include a variety of items from the new Spring/Summer Collection! (estimated value of each grab bag is approximately $233).

Each Grab Bag will include:
2 pieces from our hood riches collection
1 5-panel hat
1 tee
There is however one catch, we get to pick the gear and there are absolutely no returns or exchanges.

That seems like a pretty good deal to me, so if you’re in the mood for decking yourself out from head-to-waist in 2one5 gear then this is a great opportunity to do it.
