Top 10 t-shirts at RedBubble this week (25/01/13)

I’m going to be starting a new weekly regular feature on the site taking a look at the top 10 most popular t-shirts on RedBubble each week. I’m aiming to post this every Friday but there may be a couple of days each way depending on my schedule (because we all know I’m a very busy and important man). Expect to see lots of TV and movie references that I won’t understand and will be berated about in the comments.

1. “I’m not saying I’m Batman…” by kevinlartees – It’s a fun idea, but the execution isn’t perfect, the text changes size a lot and the gaps between each line (I’ve forgotten the technical term for that) are a bit uneven as well. This is proof that the art doesn’t have to be perfect to create a popular shirt at RedBubble.

2. “Just As Sane As I Am” by MeganLara – a gorgeous art nouveau style Harry Potter shirt from Megan Lara.

3. “DOTA 2 Heroes” by MoazTheFreeman – it shows just how much I am out of the gaming world now that I didn’t even know Defence of the Ancients was a thing, and that DOTA2 was the second version of it.

4. “Sherlock Comic by harebrained – very nice Sherlock Holmes style comic cover.

5. “On sugar mountain’…” by Valerie Anne Kelly – you know how I often say “different strokes for different folks? This is definitely one of those times, I certainly wouldn’t wear it, but we all know someone, probably an aunt, that would wear it, and love it.

6. “Slayer of the Vampyres” by Tom Trager – Buffy meets Saul Bass with excellent effect.

7. “Do You Hear The People Sing?” by TheGhostParty – if there was ever going to be a Les Mis shirt in the top 10 now would be the time for it.

8. “Good Game, I Hate You, Good Game.” by Lindsay Fulda – I have no idea what this is or why it’s popular, but I assume that it has nothing to do with the BBCs octogenarian presenter Bruce Forsyth, enlightenment in the comments, please!

9. “You Can’t Take The Sky From Me” by JenSnow – we’ve seen this quote from Serenity before in different ways, but I really like the type works on this design.

10. “Gandalf’s Eagle Transport Service” by Tom Trager – Tom Trager with two items in the top 10 this week, this time with a parody ad of Gandalf’s Eagle Transport.

“Hallows Kitty” Harry Potter x Hello Kitty shirt at MySoti

I shouldn’t really post this shirt since it’s one of those mashups where I think it pushes the boundaries a bit in terms of copyright, especially as there are so many Hello Kitty collaborations which play with the iconic character which mean that a parody or mashup shirt could easily be confused with the real thing. Still, fun looking shirt!

Two tees and a Horcrux poster at Tshirt Laundry this week

When I saw they they were selling a t-shirt that said vote Conan I immediately presumed that it would be Conan O’Brien that floppy haired late-night TV hosting legend, not the actual legend-wait for it-ary character. More interesting though is the addition of a poster to the weekly lineup from Tshirt Laundry, as that is certainly a first whilst I’ve been covering their weekly releases.

Seems to me like this is the kind of design that Shirt.Woot should have been selling in the run up to Christmas.

RIPT drop a Milton Glaser-inspired Doctor Who t-shirt.

Skyrim is the inspiration for this Nowhere Bad shirt.

I have no idea what the inspiration is for this design at The Yetee.

Daily Tees & News for December 19th

Sorry about the intermittent service on HYA recently, our wireless router failed last week, I ordered another on rush delivery from Amazon and when it arrived it wouldn’t work, and our backup router is quite old and a little flakey which doesn’t help things. There is another router on the way from Amazon though, so hopefully all of this will be sorted out before I go on my traditional Christmas break.

Wow, there really were a lot of iconic movies released in 1985, cool shirt from TeeFury.

Daily Tees & News for December 15th

Good to see Android getting some love from TeeFury in what feels like an iPhone dominated world (I love my iPhone, but I also love my Android tablet, I’ve got the best of both worlds!).

Very nice from Qwertee today, it’s cool to see them stray away from references and into the art world. I’m going to look stupid if this is a pop culture shirt.

Just a bit too much meme in this shirt for me at TeeFury today.

Don’t think that there’s any reference to this shirt at Qwertee, I think it’s just one for s[ace fans.

Another oldie-but-goodie from Tilteed.

Random tees for $6.66 at Shirt.Woot today.

Major League Quidditch Harry Potter t-shirt at RIPT today. Can you imagine if Quidditch was real? It would be AWESOME. All other I can’t imagine wanting to watch another non-flying based sport if Quidditch was an option.

I may well need assistance in identifying the reference on this shirt from The Yetee.

TeeMinus24 have dropped a Battlefield shirt here, right? I’m just about to run through the single-player on Bad Company 2, then I might relent and get in on the BF3 action, it looks pretty incredible.

I know that this is a song by Kansas, but a quick bit of Googling suggests that this shirt from OtherTees is also a reference to the TV show Supernatural.

I’m surprised that there haven’t been more rage face shirts turning up on daily sites, like this one from 24tee.

I just don’t have the inclination to watch gory movies like Saw anymore, they just don’t appeal to me. TeeRaiders

It turns out that the Daily Deal (which is on there for more than a day usually) isn’t always for tees at BustedTees, sometimes it’s a spatula that looks like someone throwing the horns, which may suggest that this item ($12 down from $20) wasn’t quite as popular with the buying public as they’d hoped.

It’s sale week at Glennz so all shirts are $15.

Urban Industry have a list of their currently available deals (usually free stuff when you order a certain brand.

Gilt are offering free shipping (for US folks) today.

Two really nice shirts from laFraise today. At first I thought that the astronaut one was my favourite, and then I noticed the glow in the dark part of the white shirt. Delightful!
